    Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could czcams.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.

    Get the Tatula SV TW. No spider graphics, a bit bigger profile, you rarely need it, but more accessible tension knob. The Tatula SV has the best braking for the money. No traditional setting of the spool tension. Just set it with a little play in the spool, set your braking and give it a fling. Start high and work lower. You don't even have to thumb this spool in the air or when the lure hits the water.

    i have been a Shimano guy forever i saw the T wing daiwa came out with they claimed it casted farther and smoother having never liked the small hole line guide of Shimano and most another's .i went and bought a TATULA SV TW 103 XS 8.1:1 I put it on a 7'6 Duckett Silverado 30 pd braid i have flipped with it frogged and a few more. The set up has not let me down .i was so impressed i bought another Tatula 150 p in 5.4:1 with 17 pd Fluorocarbon to be my spinnerbait reel with a alx rod Hammer hvy 7'0 it is the rod i do most of the work with. i still use all my Shimano's but the T wing and the smooth of the Tatula won me over. Great reel next will be the Tatula SV TW 70 in 6.3:1 or a Tatula Elite Pitch/Flip in 7.1:1 smooth buttery, back lashes are a thing of the past great casting very compact size . well worth the money. P.S i also have lews ,kastking, and ardent reels so far Tatula i feel is a better reel.

    One thing I've noticed with Shimano, and Diawa bait casters;
    The Diawa's don't last, they tend to have more issues in my experience over time. I have numerous 5+ year old Shimano's that get cleaned/greased yearly and have had zero issues. I don't have a single Diawa that didn't have some sort of broken or failed part internal or external after 2 or 3 years of service.
    However, Diawa Fuego Spinning reels are my go to for saltwater light tackle, the magseal technology really works and keeps nasty salt water out of the internals.

    Hey Justin, I just came across this video, new subscriber here. I've been a fan of Daiwa since I was a teen in the mid 70's. I'm just the opposite of you with the reels. I'm true to Daiwa, don't get me wrong, I have used other brands on occasion in the past, however, I prefer, and would always go back to the Daiwa. I currently own 12 varieties of the Tatula reel, ie: 100H, CT100H, CT Type-R, SV's, Elite, 200, 300, SV TW 70... I can't say enough about the Tatula, I fell in love with them the first time I held one about 5 years ago. I really like the spider logo's on them, I think it's pretty cool. To each his own on that. I did however buy 1 Shimano reel for a Musky casting rod I own, it's the TranX 400, it is a good reel, it casts just as good as the Daiwa LexaHD 400XS-P that I own. I do like the crank handle and feel of the knob of the Lexa better.
    Since you've had a year of ownership on the Tatula, how often have you included it in your I'm taking this combo with me today grab? What are your impressions of it now? Tight Lines!!

      ARR Matey, I'm right there with you on that one... I've been a Daiwa fan since the mid 70's as a teen...

    Just out of curiosity, Justin.... (I picked up two of these, btw), was there anything special to spooling these up with this t-wing system they have going on?

    I think I mentioned this before to you.
    I'm a Diawa guy...Not a Shimano hater, hell they make great stuff...
    But sumthin' bout them Diawas that just feel right for me...could be just what I am used too. But I think it's feel and so on...great reel

    I just got a Tatula SV. Pretty nice. Not sure it’s Curado nice but it’s nice for sure. What are your thoughts on it? I’ve only had mine a few days. I like it so far.

    Bought a couple Daiwa 21 zillion sv tw g and sold all my curado’s. Still have a few high end shimano’s but Daiwa makes killer reels imo

    Imo the tatula ct is the best bang for the buck! I’m not gonna act like I don’t love my metanium shallow, but for the money it’s hard to beat them tatulas. I have 3 tatula ct 100 hsl and they just work. May not feel like a curado/scorpion, but they cast a mile and are super smooth. There just isn’t another reel for $120 that even comes close. I’m planning on picking up a 22 zillion TWHD 1000 for some more heavy duty stuff.

    Hey, I'm new to all this bait caster fishing and binge watching alot of different videos. Have you tried out any of the 13 fishing reels?? I have a 13fishing sport z and find it to extremely smooth and easy to use. I only ask because it seems like you like to actually use them Nd go into detail about them.

    I’m about to get the Diawa Tatula 200 bc and most of my rods and reels are Lews. I also have 2 of the shimanos Slx 150 xg and love the feeling of those reels.

    Have you tried the Daiwa Tatula SV 103H reel? The SV spools is pretty crazy, you have to try pretty hard to make it backlash. I have one and really like it but I LOVE my Curado MGL 150's reels tho.

    I bought a Daiwa last year with me mainly having Shimano and I got to say it's definitely a good reel but the way I hold my reel the brakes constantly change all the time without me knowing unless I look or get a backlash
