She was going easy on him not to kill him. But once he choked her and Mike got in between them, she had to show billy that she was only holding back .. lol if you watch season 4 and then come back to this scene it will make sense. She could've broke every bone in Billy's body while he was in the air and melted his brain in his skull. She gave him a only a feeler of it before throwing him through the wall. Lol. That's why he ran off and didn't come back. And that's why in the very next scene you hear Billy saying "she could have killed me". Meaning he got the message lololol such an awesome show and that's definitely one of the best episodes to re watch after you seen past it.

Gisselle Dieguez I think the others were too shocked at what was happening, Eleven who they all know is very strong and powerful with her abilities, were confident that she would win. But the moment when Billy had the upper hand they had a hard time processing what was happening. Except Mike who loves Eleven so much and never wants to lose her ever again that he had to step up and do whatever it takes to save her.

@Ambyr Paul Hopper did not die. He jumped into the upside down just before the machine blew up. You can rewatch that scene, he probably was not standing near the machine.
Ambyr Paul there will be a season 4 they have to get rid of the demigorgen and El might still have her powers it's just that she used them so must they need to stop for a bit then come back. They also said they will meet up and stuff for thanks giving and just because they moved doesn't mean it's the end. It would be the worst ending they need to get rid of everything to do with the upside-down and the gate was still partly opened. The dude that came into the room at the end looked very interested with the gate (the police) and he could have something to do with the next season!
2:03 I really appreciate this shot of Will’s face during the whole scene. Out of all the kids, you can tell that he’s the most terrified of the group, because he actually *KNOWS* what it was like to be controlled by such a powerful, sinister entity. You can see the genuine fear in his eyes because he is physically witnessing the true extent of the Mind Flayer’s power. Will has a personal connection to the Mind Flayer because he was one of its victims, making this scene all the more powerful!

At :53 the way she pushes them behind her. Just shows how good of a friend eleven is. And how much she loves them all.
The fact that its been like 10 seconds, Eleven is dying but then when she literally cant breath anymore Mike helps.
At 1:47, you could *see* that Billy was sorry. That apologetic look he gave to Max shows that he was fully aware of what was happening, but he was powerless to stop the Mind Flayer controlling his actions. He was a prisoner in his own body.

Okay so why is no one talking about how extremely powerful eleven is. She literally was almost killed by billy. Then uses that last tiny bit of her strength to levitate billy and not only just in one spot she turned him around and threw him out a BRICK WALL. Then busted threw the door at the hospital and threw up and down left to right then out a window a monster that was 59x her size. Then holds off the mind Flayer then gets dragged across the room and alarmist killed again then gets the tiny thingie monster thing ripped off her leg then still uses what left of her. Then flips a car let’s Jonathan cut open her leg without any numb ish then take out herself. ELEVEN IS A BADASS and stronger then we think

The power difference between Vecna and Eleven is so incredibly small. Vecna knows much better how to use his powers effectively and in a special way. That is why he overwhelms Eleven very quickly and often. But once Eleven picks up a feeling of strong love, she's unstoppable. The way she throws Henry against the wall through the mirror and then walks over to him when he can't do anything is epic. It's like she's stopped being herself, just focusing on obliterating her target. Plus the fact that she can also obliterate entities and then create a gate. That's something Vecna can't do. The only reason I think Vecna is cooler and why he has the advantage is because he has been working on his plan for years and has absolute control over everything in the Upside Down.

But I do think that the mind flayer possession significantly boosts someones strength, remember how possessed Will managed to rip of the ropes and almost choke his mom in S2. Will himself is not really physical strong. Billy is so it makes sense he became this strong with his strength boosted. Also makes sense why the mind flayer kept him of all people around instead of dissolving him in the flesh monster. He was probably the strongest human under his control. Makes sense to keep him as his "human avatar"

In the first two seasons, that's exactly the thing I missed about the villains: namely, that physical threat! I mean, even Eleven was almost killed here!

This scene is a masterpiece...it really shows what the mind flayer is capable of when it’s taken over the body of a victim, plus, this scene’s gotta be one of the scariest scenes in the series. Millie and dacre’s incredible acting in this scene is definitely what completes this scene and what makes it so scary...you can see the pain and fear in el’s eyes when she’s choked...as always, an amazing performance by Millie. But it’s not just the scariness of this scene that makes this scene such a masterpiece, it’s the little details too. You can see that he looks at max right before he chokes el...this is because BILLY doesn’t wanna choke her, and he doesn’t want max seeing him choke her because max and el are besties. Deep down, billy doesn’t wanna choke her, but he doesn’t have a choice because like he said when he was trapped in the sauna, “he’s making me do it.” The mind flayer is making him do it because the mind flayer needs el to die. Luckily for the mind flayer, the mind flayer has billy. You can also see that he looks kinda guilty for what he’s doing to el. Whenever you don’t see billy with black veins in this scene, you know it’s billy. Whenever you do see billy with black veins, you know the mind flayer’s taking control. In horror movies, I find people getting possessed by something pretty scary, so this scene was scary to me. This scene did a great job demonstrating what possession is like👍 I think Billy’s strength in this scene also makes this scene a lot scarier, just because his strength is so inhuman-like. Without the mind flayer possessing him, billy was already strong enough, but with the mind flayer possessing him...he’s pretty much the hulk. I’d say a lot more good things about this scene because there are a lot more good things about this scene, but I’m not making this comment any longer than what it is. Overall, this scene is such a masterpiece. Watching it was like a rollercoaster of emotions! Hopefully we get some more scenes just like this in season 4...

Boy was it ever. Watching him push back the barbel was a total ":O WTF?!!!" moment. And it was utterly heartbreaking when he had her by the throat like that.

Also why Millie didn’t get an Emmy nomination for this season is beyond me, her getting choked was super believable acting and she was 14 doing it…
This shows how perfect of a host billy was for vecna/ the mind flayer, Will was physically weak so the mind flayer was limited heavily but with Billy being incredibly strong, it could take full advantage of less limitations to the amount of power it could use

I think it highlights that for all the shit that they do, for all the wild situations that they're in, they're still just kids and physically Billy is completely unmatched. They're also pretty used to Eleven being the one that protects them and basically fights for them plus they're probably still shocked that their plan to contain Billy failed because (as is pretty typical for kids haha) they didn't have a plan B for if it all went south. End of the day, I think this scene really reinforced to me that they're just kids, and that they've been through shit that it's staggering that they survived due to their lack of relative power.
Probably just stunned lol. Eleven is the most powerful thing that they know, and billy is just standing there choking the life out of her, what could they do? Good thing Mike found a pipe and loves eleven or she probably would have died.

I get chills when the Mind Flayer/Vecna starts to become overtly active in its host. The dark force pumping through their veins, their demonic screams, their eyes turning pitch black. It's an "instant-kill mode" of sorts, where the host focuses on nothing but escaping and killing the people who get in the way. Will, Doris, Billy...

Was exhausted from all of that so she Went into finns arms and That's why Mike/finn was/looked suprised.
