Tony & Chelsea Northrup Ok I'm using a 50mm lens and I can really get the setting on my Camera on Manual! I'm going outside and I'll send to you and I'll see what you think.
Tony & Chelsea w w
This is the simplest yet detailed explanation I've seen on the entire internet! Great video. Learnt a lot.
Couldn't have put it any better.
Beginner camera user here and man I've been looking around trying to figure out some this stuff and settings. This one video here took a seemingly complicated issue and totally made it easily understandable in explanation as well using proper picture and graphic representation of what exactly is explained and what the camera is actually doing. A Big Fat Thumbs Up to this video!
Ardent Dfender Agree 100%
I totally agree! They made it simple and easy to start using right away!
Getting back to basics, i like that. If it was not for videos like these many beginners would be lost. Makes me happy to see these types of videos slipped in every now and then. Keep up the great work guys.
Magallon Thanks! We're prepping an update to SDP.
Tony Northrup
You guys make such a great team. I love how you guys took turns talking. You guys are so captivating. Thank you for helping all of us.
this is so crsytal clear other videos are so complicated :')
+Imad Hussain Glad to help!
Imaddness I couldn't agree even more
WOW!!!! you've made this seem so easy and not complicated at all! First video to do that for me! Thank you!
Glad we could help!
I'm a beginner and after watching over a hundred videos I can say this is without a doubt the most helpful one I've come across. I'm buying their book. Bravo!
I literally learned how to shoot in manual mode by watching THIS VIDEO!!!! I’ve read all kinds of instruction articles that did indeed make sense to me, but they failed to explain it in a way that I could visualize. Immediately after watching this video I switched my Nikon D4 into Manual mode, shut off the auto-iso and started shooting great pics that had more of what I saw with the naked eye. Then I started making them darker, lighter, sharper, with better bokeh and so on. So impressed I immediately bought your book “Stunning Digital Photography” and now I’m having so much fun! Thank you both so much for what you do, I am without a doubt a new loyal subscriber. Best! John.
It’s amazing how far these videos have come, this one is great and it was how I started but you’re more recent videos are so much more natural, and your personalities really shine
I got my first dslr about 4 months ago for Christmas. You two put out wonderful videos! Every time I want to learn something new, or have a question about photography I come to your channel.
After months of searching for a decent 'how to' video, I came across this. Amazing, easy to follow and not making it sound to complicated. Andy.
What a wonderfully calm and professional way of tutoring. I´ve know the ground rules for decades, but this reminder didn´t get boring. I´ll check out the rest and keep you in mind if anyone asks me about where to start understanding their camera. Good work.
Just in curiosity I bought my first DSLR camera Canon 1200D with no knowledge about it. After watching all your tutorials, I started to love my camera and photography and learnt so many things from your videos. Very detailed information and easy to understand live demonstration. Thank you guys. Awesome work...
I’ve probably watched a dozen or more hours of videos and yours is the one and only so far that has truly explained this all in a way I can understand. I’m now really excited to get out and take some photos. Def be watching more of your stuff.
Thank you for the great videos, I purchased your ebook 'Stunning Digital Photography' because you are my favorite photography instructors on CZcams. I am a serious- hardcore-extreme-amateur-beginner-hobby photographer, and I have learned more in the past week from your channel, than I have in the previous five years watching/reading others.... THANK YOU!!!!
The Nikon d7200 guide you have on youtube is the best i could get anywhere and thanks for encouraging enthusiasts like me to take more pictures in manual mode now.
Wow, you have no idea how many videos I've watched trying to understand this, with this one it all suddenly fell into place, crystal clear, thank you.
I just got my first DSLR camera today. Read for about three hours out my dummies book and learned about 1/10 of what I have from you two in about half of an hour. I'm buying your book off pure gratitude, you guys are awesome!
Thanks, Cyrus!
One of the few videos I've watched re: understanding the basics of photography that has finally helped me to 'get it'! Thank you.
Just bought the nikon d3300 and the only camera I've ever used was on my phone. I was in over my head with this camera. After watching these videos and also your video on the d3300 I feel so much more confident. I've taken about 500 photos in the last 2 days using manual mode and understanding exposure compensation, aperture, and shutter speed. ISO is in auto for now. You both make it so easy to learn that I had to buy your book and can't wait to dive into it. Thanks for the great videos!
just bought my first camera (canon eos rebel t5i ) and a beginner. I subscribed after watching my first video of you guys. Thanks for sharing all this knowledge with us.
This is by far, the most detailed and easiest to understand explanation on this platform. This video should be the "go-to" video when trying to understand the camera! Good job!
you guys rock! I've dj'd clubs, parties, and social events for over 20yrs! Just purchased my 1st professional camera to capture memorable moments.... Canon Rebel t6 w/ wifi.... & this tutorial was the best! Thx
You guys are great. Glad you guys put your energy into teaching people online about what you both know. I don't think there's anybody else out there who is this committed to helping people with this particular profession (or hobby) to the people to see something apart from just a shutter click on a camera with an empty message clipped onto it.
Hello, guys! Just wanted to stop by and say thank you for this tutorial. I watched so many tutorials for photography from other users, but most of them were difficult to understand. This video was very very helpful, I feel like I understand my camera better now lol. Looking forward to watch more videos from you. Keep up the good work!
I've seen many videos about the manual mode, but this is by far the clearest I've seen!
This is probably the most simplest and the most useful guide I have ever watched. I was having troubles with my pictures because they came out too dark and somewhat brownish, now I understand where I was messing up! Thank you for this, insta like insta subbed. Keep up the good work!
Hey Tony, I'm the beginner in photography and just love you lessons. Great work
Awesome tutorial for a photography newb like myself. I figured I’d watch it even though I don’t always go manual. I’m glad I did because I think this is by far the Best explanation of ISO + Aperture + Shutter Speed vs Light I have seen! Thank you so much to both of you.
I finally decided to concentrate on shooting in manual mode and have purchased a few books, but I must say that your video trumps much of my readings due to the way you explain it in visual style. Respectfully, I had to watch it a few times because the lady is so beautiful that it caused distraction for me. I state this respectfully! Thanks for taking the time to help others understand their cameras better!
I just got my camera and i watched so many videos on the settings and they all made it so complicated and used words that i had no idea what they meant and this video was so crystal clear and helped me soooo much! Thank you tons
Hi, My name is Lloyd. Thank you so much for your great videos. And thank you again for takin the time to help us out in our photography life. You two guys are great. I love all your video lessons ( Trainings)
Love you both
Lloyd
As a beginner i like you guys the most and explained the basics very thoughtful. I recently bought canon 70d and bought the 50mm 1.8. I don't usually use M mode cause i tend to get wrong settings.. i use av mode and probably going to kickstart using manual
YES! Thank you for the simple, thorough info w/ visuals!!! I really appreciate the fact that you have us pause to practice so that we're familiar with what you're doing and explaining. It's like our own personal classroom. You both rock.
Thank you guys!! You just earned a new subscriber! YOUR video is easier to comprehend than the manual that came with the camera!
this is actually the first video i found that actually explains properly everything... thank you so much, can't wait to go out and practice with my camera . Gained a subscribers btw 👍🏻
Very good video on explaining Manual mode of DSLR camera. I recommend this video tutorial to all amateur photographers.
Thank you Tony.
Best video on Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. Tony & Chelsea Northrup are the best trainers.
tbh, these are my favorite videos. it's genuine and quite informative. i prefer this style over the current style.
This video helps tremendously. Thank you Northrup family.
Thank you Tony and Chelsea. God bless you and your team
Just discovered you - what a great team! And a really well-thought-out presentation of these complex-ish ideas. Thank you so much for making this!
Simple yet most brilliant explanations seen until now. Thanks!
Good video. I used a Cannon Powershot for a couple of years in the Auto mode. Your simple and straight forward examples provide a perfect "on ramp" to experimenting with the manual mode. Well done.
Tony, if you are now switching from Auto on your Powershot please don't forget to adjust your resolution from Large to Superfine Large which will give you an infinitely finer photo. Auto only photographs in Large.
Great video to compliment your book. Enjoying both resources. Thanks
Great video, as always. It's so true that the camera becomes something so important and if you know it well you change settings automatically and once you understand the exposure triangle (ISO, Aperture and Shutter speed) everything is easy. Keep it going. Hope to see a video showing manual on studio environment. I know is almost the same just that the shutter is used to control the ambient light but I really like your style and how you teach.
That was very good, guys..EXCELLENT...This was the first video where I'm beginning to get it partially. I like how you take it step by step in a detailed fashion. I like your graphs as well which help to explain....Thanks....
This video was soooo helpful when I got my new Nikon. I really, really appreciated the clarity of the video because it was so easy to follow and do on my own.
Thank you so much for explaining this in detail. It now makes sense to me. Just got my first DSLR and had no idea what to do, great video and very informative.
Great lessons here. Thank you so much. Teaching with examples is the best way of making people understand what you're talking about. Much loveeeeeee!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
love your videos. very clear and easy to follow. bought your book today. Thanks
Thanks for showing me how to use camera manual mode..i like it, and both of you did very good job. thanks again
super amazing video! This just helped me out tremendously! I have been looking for a help with a canon rebel T6 I purchased back in April. I feel like I can finally use it! Thank you so much!
One of the best video explaining...thanks a lot. I have subscribed to your channel straight away.
Excellent and very helpful video, thank you so much Mr Tony and Mrs Chelsea
Thankyou , I do watch your videos & learn from it every time something new , thanks for making things easier for a beginner
I am learning so much from your videos. You make everything so easy to understand!
Wonderfully explained, Thanks Tony for your great work.
I have enjoyed your videos and have been away for a while, this was a great video. Short and full of great stuff! Excellent work.
As a new aspiring photographer with absolutely no experience or training, I really appreciate your videos!
Thank you!
Caycia Banks 8
You guys enlightened me as a beginner photographer, now i just need to practice and practice, I usually using Av mode but now ill try to use the manual mode
This is why I read Stunning Photography, LR Classic, and Photoshop; with the included videos there’s no better way to learn. I Started LR a couple days ago, and 20 minutes into the book and video I learned a ton of useful stuff I didn’t know about, and I’ve been using LR and PS for years. Most importantly, they make it fun.
Loved the console-style tuning you put in the video with the 4 options!
You guys are extremely competent teachers! I learned a lot, even though I thought I knew a little!
You are both very photogenic as well!
Very informative guys! I'm learning a lot watching your videos. Thanks!
I like seeing you both explaining things calmly.
Great video, explaing how it all works. I'm currently using an a6500, on auto most of the time. But, I'm ready to start taking control of my pictures. Thanks for sharing this one.
I always enjoy your videos and learn or reinforce so much information! I think for a full discussion of manual mode an image of your in camera meter is always helpful, in addition to checking the brightness on the LCD. Excellent presentation nonetheless.
What an awesome team. Thank you for sharing.
Great explanation! I bought your book too. Thanks!
Thanks! I am a totally new in photography, and your video was really helpful and easy to understand.
Read this in your book...and it sorta made sense to me. Watching this video made it crystal clear. Thanks for doing this.
jturie Glad it helped! We made it specifically b/c we know it's a topic people still struggle with after reading Chapter 4. This will go into the next update of SDP.
Thanks guys embarrassing to say but i own some very decent gear and don't know too much about it at all, learning these techniques from different people with a different explanation is really helping me out. I've finally moved out of the Automatic mode and have a somewhat clearer understanding. Regards joe
you two are excellent trainers... thank you.
Great work guys. Very informative for a beginner like myself. Thanks!
I picked up my first camera in 2002...disposable. And later when my wife bought me my first digital (Kodak), I discovered how much I enjoyed and had a flare for pictures. But during all that time, it was always "Point and Shoot". 14 years later, I am a serious student of learning manual settings. Thank you, Tony and Chelsea, for not only being instructive...but NOT condescending. I know that others feel the same as I do...(added note).....I was always frustrated as to how to keep my pictures at substantial sizes, not always being able to produce photos AT good sizes. I know this might be common knowledge to the learned photographer, but manual settings also......give you good substantial sizes for posters, framing, etc.
I just wanna say you guys are awesome. Thanks for all the info. Between you guys and d4darious im learning alot. I watched your 107 video to pass that test.
Probably the best tutorial I've viewed on this subject. Thank you.
Thanks a ton really!
before watching this video whenever i press the shutter the camera takes 20 seconds to finally capture the image and it results in full black or full white but i tried what you told here and it worked immense changes in my shots. its faster crispier and full of colors :)
I'm brand new to DSLR photography and this was incredibly helpful. Given me the basis to start experimenting with! Thanks
Thank you so much for summarizing it efficiently.
im a total beginner and this helped me so much. i really enjoy your videos
Thanks Tony and Chelsea, you both teach me a lot !
Hi Tony and Chelsea, I love the way you guys elaborate! It was understood straight. Both of you are great artists indeed!! Just subscribed to your channel!! Thanks much!!!
Covered pretty much everything most people need to start taking better photos, nicely done.
Looked at a lot of tutorials, but so far this is the best! Trust me!
Have been following and learning from you for a year now, thanks so much for the endless learning :)
You guys are good. I'm brand new to this, and your videis have already helped me a lot.
You guys are legends, thanks again for such a clear and fun tutorial.
Thank you. I have the digital book and this really gave me more insight on using these particular settings.
Brilliant video and a subtle, respectful plug! Well Done!
Thank you Tony & Chelsea Northrup. you gave the easiest explanation
Great video, best video I've seen yet explaining and demonstrating F-Stop, ISO and Aperture.
I love all your videos. i am a beginner and find all your videos of great help. Thank you.
Awesome as always. Congrats to both of you.
You guys did a great job! You're really inspiring and empowering beginners thanks so much for helping us out.
This is one of the best tutorials of the exposure triangle, well done!
You guys are awesome you made my photography so much more better now thank you
Hey, just wanted to give a quick shout out to you guys to say thanks for the great videos. Worked through three of them so far. Already putting what you taught me into use. I froze the water! Yes! Anyway, thanks and look forward to ingesting more of your wealth of knowledge!
Thanks...definatley will use this to learn...love all your videos and especially that you include us beginers. I have subscribed, now I need to get your books starting with the buying guide. My current camera is a fuji finepix 2000, lol. Looking at a6000, 70 d, d5500, what to do!?!?
