- A steel series gaming mouse came in, and was in need of cleaning to be put back to use, here is how you too can get your own mouse back on track.
Steel series mice seem to be rather easy to both repair and clean, the only downside being the glued on side panels that don't seem to like soap water and will come off during cleaning.

I finally did clean my mouse using this video, this was a hour and a half project for me because it was my first time taking a mouse apart and putting it together. But this totally helped. My mouse is no longer jumping. Thank you so much for your help!
Thank you for saving me $80 on a new mouse. This was super simple to do.
Warm the teflons with hair dryer or something, they are perfectly reusable.
That mouse was designed in a rival country...
Thank you so much for this!!
There's another version of Rival 310 (not sure if older or newer batch) that use yellow colored contact adhesive instead of double tape to adhere the silicone grip to the mouse body, and the mouse body have additional grooves (that stripes 5:37) to grip the adhesive. So it's more messy and doesn't stick as well if it come off when cleaning with soap water. You need to remove the existing adhesive with soap water & IPA then reapply the adhesive.
Standard yellow adhesive (used for shoe soles, leather, etc) doesn't work well on the silicone though (i tried), you need a primer on the silicone before applying the adhesive and even then it doesn't last long. For gluing the silicone side pads to the mouse, use standard silicone sealant (usually used for aquarium sealing). It could stick the side pads back on the plastic body, no primer needed and holds very well, just make sure to properly clean the surfaces before spreading the sealant, thoroughly press down the pads to the plastic for the first few minutes after sticking it with the sealant, and let it cure properly (I did leave it for 2 days).
**Update: after 2 years of having my Rival 310 side pads glued with silicone sealant, it still haven't peeled off and still stick like new, so I guess it works with other mouse but may depends on the type of side pads and the mouse's plastic material. I use silicone sealant from Dextone (green packaging if you google it), but other brands may work just fine.
yeah, the side pads are definitely the worst part about the 310, otherwise the disassembly procedure is much nicer than most mice.
use 3m 468mp and sand down the mouse body with fine sandpaper
Thank you, I did a similar disassembly and cleaned my mouse. Although my mouse scroll is still wonky, it works better. If you have any ideas on why my mouse scrolls up and down when only spinning down, let me know. Thanks ahead everyone!
The way most mouse weels work is that there are 2 sensors and spokes that block light and the order of which sensor shows blocked light first determines which way the rolling is seen by the computer, so very likely there is still some stuff in the mouse wheel or the sensor.
Good clip
May I ask where this mouse sensor is sold? The sensor on my mouse is broken but I want to fix it because it has too many memories for me.
The skates thing is why I always sell a mouse on the fritz and buy another. Can't say I've ever applied new skates to the bottom of a mouse but it's about 80% of the feel of ta mouse for FPS guys, I'd lose my mind if I got it wrong.
I've changed plenty of skates, and its the easiest part when I refurbish something, just make sure there is nothing left of the old adhesive and don't touch the new adhesive with fingers and the skates cost next to nothing.
What screw driver size did you use ?
I can tell you from owning this mouse, those sides will fall off after this. I had to use superglue to keep mine on. I'm switching from steelseries' mice after owning this mouse. Too many problems after only a year of owning.
I've had some come off and some stay on, been like 50/50 chance but agree, just prepare to use some double sided tape to be sure.
where can i get replacements for skates for this mouse :D nice vid btw
amazon, aliexpress etc.
How to replace laser?? My sensie laser not working but the click and scroll is working ang lights. Onlu laser not working.
Easier to just get a new mouse at that point they go for around 30 Bux now around where I live..
Curious about the financial side of this. Wouldn't it make it almost the same price to buy a new one?
if you talk about cost of resources used, its likely that those are far less expensive than the mouse, but the labor might or might not make it worth it. There is also the fact that once you have completed the cleaning its ready to be used immediately instead of having to walk to a shop or order it via post. Your mileage will vary.
I must have been too damn rough, my MMB collapsed after playing Killing Floor 2
I followed these instructions to clean my Rival 310.
Plus I put a tiny bit of oil on the Alps Encoder which seemingly fixed my scolling issue.
Also did this to fix the double-click problem on the Omron switches: czcams.com/video/eDoXMJyimDU/video.html
Scrolling issue where it randomly scrolls up or down while you're scrolling? Because I have been having this issue for a while
@@kin9452 Same. I've gotten this issue with every single steelseries mouse ive purchased and its incredibly annoying
@@noakuu393 it's really is annoying. Not to mention the sides grips falling out. Got my self a razer viper mouse seems pretty good
@@noakuu393 ever found a solutions to this? does cleaning even help with that? lol
@@BrooklynBanana Nope. I've opened them up, blasted with air, wiped them out, etc. I think it may just be that the scroll wheel breaks
Mate you dont have any clue about pull off and drag on skatez. its a tragedy
