- After making the video I've searched for the original part number and found several threads of people complaining about failures on these Omron parts, used by several manufacturers. Mice this expensive should use better components.

Great video, José. Greetings from Venezuela.
Hi Jose Faria good video, can you link what tools you use for this? Thank you
you can use 3m 468mp to reattach the side grips.
Knows how to do electronics repair but can't be bothered to find silicon adhesive. lol. Good video either way.
Yes, proper silicone adhesives are hard to find locally, that's why I went with the bodge repair.
Thanks a lot, amigo, I use a very basic iron, and that pin was so hard to get out, I didn't want to force it, I assume it is a delicate board, but I did it in the end. Have a nice day. 50 mil clicks, yeah, wright.... The super mega pro mechanical keyboard is next...😑😑😑
If you start doing more of these repairs on your devices or your friends' devices, consider investing on a desoldering station with vacuum, even the cheap ones make these jobs so much easier.
Regarding the switches, I'm pretty the switches in all my mice never got close to the rated values. Not saying the manufacturers are all lying, but to get even close to those numbers you probably have to have the mouse in lab conditions, inside a temperature and humidity controlled chamber.
Nice video! But I have one question does the bottom glides or feet need any extra adhesive when reassembled? Or does it just stick naturally?
Thanks, I've removed them twice and they stuck without any extra adhesive.
José Faria thanks for the reply! Youre the best
Спасибо тебе друг, очень выручил.
Thanks for the video. Mine recently started "unclicking" while I'm clicking and dragging things. Do you think it's the same issue?
It's very likely that's the same issue. That's one of the things that were happening to me, I had to press the button very hard in order for dragging to work properly.
I have same issue with my rival 600 and the grips lost too
@@olebo1 same
SAME thing is happening on my rival 310
Just in time when I need to change my switches! and I agree the original switch were sucks
Posting this comment with the left mouse click of the mouse which I just revived thanks to this video!
What is the result of peach trèe bro
how about part number for middle button?
I bought it in 2017. The same problems appeared to me as well.
i don't have double click issue but when selecting text or anything , (holding left button) to select doesn't always work
If it works properly if you press the button hard, then it's probably the switch
Thank you. This confirmed that my mouse is old too. Its like 1,5 year old and that issue. I think i have to buy new one :(
Where do you live? In europe we have 2 years warranty, mine was actually in the warranty period, but I had the components with me so I just fixed it myself.
@@jfaria I have to try
My Logitech MX 510 from 2004 still works without any issues, yet these new mice from steelseries etc. fall apart after 2 years of use. The prices went up and the quality went downhill, fuck these companies, honestly.
@@eqxotiC i honestly think one should only buy logitech ..
@@fooooooooooofive Yeah, I just bought a G Pro X Superlight and it's the best mouse I've owned so far.
Heat teflons with hair dryer and use razor blade to delicately take them off so you can reuse them/
Which encoder do you recommend and the size is 9mm ?
To be honest I don't really know, but I bet if you take it to an electronics store they can find you a compatible one. If it failed completely you have to replace it, but if it's failing intermittently you probably can squeeze quite a bit more time from it by spraying the encoder with contact cleaner.
Hello Jose. I have a couple problems with the same mouse and I was wondering if you could help me. First, my mousewheel doesn't work properly at all and I struggle to scroll. Should I open the mouse aswell or is there another sollution? Second, my thumb grips also have started to peel off...what can I do about it? Thanks in advance!
You can buy replacement grips, ask the store where you bought the mouse, they are made of silicone, which is notoriously difficult to glue, a tube of adequate silicone glue will probably be more expensive than the replacement grips. A possible alternative would maybe replace the silicone grips with a bit of abrasive tape, like people use on skateboards. I went with that silly paper pad in the video and it's still going.
Regarding the scroll wheel, maybe open it up and spray the wheel encoder inside with contact cleaner, usually helps.
@@jfaria Thanks alot for the quick reply! Would I not need to buy glue if I bought only the grips though?
@@_S1nta No, they already have adhesive, just peel and put it in it's place.
@@jfaria Thank you so much!!
Hi! can you still use steelseries engine after replacing the switch of the mouse? sorry for the noob question. hope someone answer. thank you
No problem, replacing the switches doesn't make any difference to the software, it works normally.
so i did this, but 10 minutes later they broke again, (my problem being that they wouldn't go back up), what should i do.
First, make sure they are properly seated on the PCB, if they are you have to replace them again. I can imagine some possible causes, they could be bad parts from a less reputable seller or they might have been internally damaged if you had the soldering iron on the new part for too long and it got too hot internally.
Edit: also, of course make sure they are broken and it's not just some problem caused by leaving some slightly out of place part during reassembly.
I have an issue with the wobbly mouse buttons. It makes a rattling sound when I shake the mouse. Is there a way to fix this? P.S. mouse is Sense 310
Maybe the plastic hinges that hold the buttons to the chassis broke and that is what is causing the noise? Try to glue them back together?
@@jfaria Thank you.i will try.
Hey pal, I have steelseries rival 110. I have never done soldering or replacing buttons etc. on boards but it doesnt seems like rocket sience :D I would like to give it a chance and try it myself. It seems like those mouses temp to fail after 2 years service with same issues (click buttons). I manage to get replacement within warranty but now after almost 2 same symptoms and thats left clicking button. Do you think that I can use same click buttons as you used in your videos or is there any difference ? Voltage etc. I found plenty of them on Aliexpress but not sure which one to choose. Can you help me out please ? Great video btw. Thanks for that.
Forget about voltages and other parameters like that, just worry about the size, which for the main buttons in mice is almost always the same. If you like that mouse and want to use it for as long as you can I would avoid aliexpress switches, you might get lucky and get good ones, but if possible get something from a reputable brand to get some quality control and buy from a reputable seller to avoid counterfeit parts.
@@jfaria Thanks for reply. Do you have any recommendations which brand should I choose ? And also what liquid have you used before soldering ?
@@rastislavpulak4168 Those I've used in the videos are the only type I've tried, they are cheap and work, but any switch from a reputable seller will work. Regarding the soldering flux, buy from a reputable seller as well, good flux makes it a lot easier.
@@jfaria Great thanks for reply and your help! Have a hood day :)
I just change my rival 310 switch with kailh gm 8.0 black..before tightening the screw it works just fine but after i tighten the screw to the max point..suddenly cannot click…then i have to loosen the screw so i can click..dont know what the cause
Measure the switch height, could the new one be slightly taller?

Eu usei estes: www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/c-k/ZMA00A080P00PC/3757116

Hey, how do the C&K switches compare to the Omron ones? The spec sheet says that C&K have greater actuating force by 0.2N. Is it really noticeable?
My Sensei 310 started randomly "letting go" of the left mouse button when I'm pressing it down. Thanks to your video I know that the soldering work won't be too hard, so I might actually try replacing the buttons.
Edit:
Nevermind about the C&K's, it would cost me 20€ in shipping alone to get them.
Do you have any other switches that you can recommend? I've been looking at Kailh GM 4, as people often use these as a replacement for D2FC-F-K.
You'll probably be fine with any of them, as long as it comes from a reputable seller. Yeah, shipping from the large electronics distributors can be expensive, I usually wait until I have more stuff to buy, so I go above the 50 euro mark where stores like digikey offer free shipping.
your mouse stopped working, so you made it better lol
Thanks for video.I have rival 110 but i do not know which switch should i buy ? Do you know rival 110's switch code ?
They should be identical to this one, most mice are.
@@jfaria Thank you but when I disassemble my Rival 110, I could not see any code on switches. Your Switch brand is Omron but my Switch brand is Kailh. And As i Said there is no code on Switch. So i do not know what should i do ? Should i use Omron Switch ? My switch :

@@jfaria I see. I have one more question. My switch is orange and Omron D2FC-FL-NH is orange. Your switch is blue and your switch code is D2FC-F-K. What is the difference between those switches? Could you help me about this question?
@@furkanozturk2341 No, I only know these C&K I used in the video, you will have to download the datasheets and read them to see the differences.
did it take 2 years for your switches to go bad? cuz if then id rather just get a new one . i hope they update this moues with better switches, cable, and feet this year. this mouse shape is its biggest strength against other mouse, nothing like it.
thanke you very much. Bye bye.
steelseries quality in nutshell, u need to use carton to fix their crap
It gets worse, I tried to install the "steelseries engine" to change settings, but the latest version installs "GG" which is just a bunch of bloatware that asks you to create an account in the end. GTFO
Razer was doing a lot of bad hardware, but they lost me when they did this with their pos software, SteelSeries is going to go the same way for me.
I wish I had your skills. LOL
Hello Jose, i watched your video changing the capacitor on the Toshiba. I might be having the same problem so i wanted to communicate for help with you about it. Can you send me your email? Many thanks
