This is literally one of the best vampire films ever made. Realize the vampires of folklore are not swave sexy seducers and this one portrays them as they should be.
“Should” is a strong word. Both folkore and sexy vampires aren’t real anyway. The best is something like vampire the masquerade where you get both sexy vampires and monstrous.
@@jamesj5612 true but its sweet to see something ugly and fierce. Oh man imagine if the show kindred the embraced would be made now? I watched the original one and enjoyed it but it didn't get the love it deserved. Proud Gangrel here. The whole show is on CZcams if you haven't come across it.

My mom and I like good macabre films we both watched the first one. Once it was over she turned to me and said, " what was this crap we just watched?" I felt the same way.
Yeah, they definitely seemed more feral in appearances and action than your traditional two fanged variety!
The ending of this film broke my heart. I don't even cry at romantic or sad movies, but the final death was so brilliantly acted, I was a mess. The movie made you deeply feel the town and winter's isolation. Well done.

Best Vampire movie ever. I remember being so entranced in the movie, I actually felt like I was stuck in that town with them. I had no idea what me and my wife walked into when we sat down to watch that movie, it caught us off guard great movie!

I also liked Daybreakers. Always wondered what would happen if the vampires just took over.
Definitely one of the most underrated vampire movies of all time. Very original plot. Of course, a place that has 30 days of night would be perfect for a vampire.
I love the slow building sense of doom in this movie, the desperation of the isolation and the tension of the dementia sufferer locked in the attic, so much good stuff.
Loved how the depicted the Vampires not as hipster like Snobs or winged Animal like Creatures but very very old ancient sentient but brutal creatures, disguised from mankind but also kind of part of humankind, like some sort of a different tribe of humans.
this is actually the first vampire movies that creeps me out and it was actually a little bit scary. Awesome movie, definitely reccomend it
This movie definitely had some of the creepiest vampires I've ever seen and w/them not really speaking so much that lack of humanity intensified the creepiness..

This movie had the best vampires to date - vicious, relentless, and terrifying, driven by bloodlust, and with only a few of them (namely - their leaders) displaying some form of sensibility regarding their prey.

The second was probably made by a different company and not a true sequel i am guessing( have not seen it)

One of my favorite Vampire movies ever!
I came across this movie when I was searching for movies based on comic books/graphic novels. Man it was awesome. A legit horror movie. The buildup towards something sinister, the bloodbath and finally some much needed retribution..give them a dose of their own medicine kinda deal. I liked that a lot.

It was actually refreshing to see true monster-vampires instead of sexy virus-mutant superhumans.
Had this film in my mind for more than a decade now. Best vampire horror film, bar none.
I love how this movie showed the people fight back. Not just the main characters you see some no name civilians kill some vamps through the movie.
These are without a doubt the best vampires I've seen on a screen. Their uncaring, predatory, and violent nature is perfect.

This is one of my favourite vampire movies, I was never really taken by romantic or comedy movies/shows but THIS movie (then the graphic novel) made me what to be a vampire, scary, powerful and monstrous.
It’s kind of comforting to hear your super chill voice while describing some really brutal and gory films.
One of my favorite vampire movie. Blade 1 and 11 tops them all but this is definitely on my list of one of the good ones. I wish they would make a sequel.

With the vampires in 30 Days of night being as old as they are, the language they're speaking could be ancient Mesopotamian.
I saw this one in the theater when it came out. It was a hell of a fun movie. The big burly guy's last stand with the trenching machine was incredibly awesome. Like a lot of genre movies, it had some odd plot holes and conveniences, but overall I'd watch this one again anytime. I didn't even know there was a sequel movie.
4:11 I noticed one interesting word. The word "Upir", which is pronounced by Marlow (leader of the cult) in his ancient language. Upir is a vampire from South Slavic mythology. An undead, blood-eating creature that rises from the grave at night. This means that Nosferatu vampires have existed for a very long time and perhaps they are known to mankind by other names in different cultures.
This movie is based off an amazing graphic novel series that has so much detail that the movie missed, but awesome video man.
They actually made the script first. But to create interest in the masses. The creator's friend made it into a comic so studios would take a chance at it.
@@cc4670 dude what are you talking about? Your information is all jacked up. Steve Niles wrote the story and pitched it to be a comic before it got turned into a movie, but it was rejected. He then tried to pitch it for a film, but it still got rejected. After so many rejections he was forced to shelve it for a later time. Years later he took it to IDW and got them to agree to publish it as a comic and had Ben Templesmith do the artwork for it. Niles and his agent later pitched the comic for a possible film idea and got filmmakers like Sam Raimi very interested in making it a feature film.
I think this movie is one of the best vamp movie made.
Very good. Vampires were terrifying again for the first time since I was a kid in the 70s. Back then there was movie called The Night Stalker about a newspaper reporter investigating a series of deaths involving...you guessed it, blood loss. The vampire in that movie was also depicted as very frightening akin to a serial killer stalking city streets at night. Very suspenseful.

I really love this movie. I think the whole premise is awesome. Most original take on vampires in way too long. I'm really excited about Niel Blomkamps upcoming movie, he describes the vampires in it in a Joe Rogan podcast like a month ago. It's gonna be awesome!

I remember this getting so much shit critically but aside from the disappointing/dumb ending, it's a beautiful looking and terrifying film.

Coming from Serbia, a country from where the word "Vampire" originates as well as the mythology about them I have to say that these vampires are the closest to what the mythology about them says. They are described as cursed dead who have no rest, who are feral, have rows of razor-sharp teeth, and who act like wild wolves in a frenzy.

One of the best interpretations of vampires on film. Animalistic pack hunters that aren't romantic high society socialites that seduce you. I also loved the teeth, more shark like meant for tearing flesh. A breath of fresh air for vampirism.

I felt like this was a really good representation of a vampire. I just wish they gave a small backstory to how they became vampires. I almost feel like it was an experiment gone wrong, either in Northern Europe or northern Canada.

Good video. If you ever want to look more into the lore around 30 days of night. Check out The graphic novels. And there are a couple of books based on the Graphic Novels. Oh, there is a book based on the movie too. It's actually pretty good even though it came after the movie. It does a great job at making some of the plots make more sense and elevating them to produce more anxiety. But to answer the question. It's a bit foggy but I think Eben can withstand and control himself. I haven't watched the second movie but in the Graphic Novels, Eben gets brought back to life.

The irony is that the road to Barrow is better during winter; the cold stabilizes the soggy parts and it freezes the rivers.
The vampire abilities were a little more realistic than other movies.
