I feel like Jesse and other youngsters at United over the past like 5 to 10 years really had their growth torpedoed. Having constant instability with systems and coaches, some managers not playing the youth, some managers afraid to adjust the lineup, and systems not really suiting the attackers at the club. Jesse felt like a talent but needed to be molded and mentored, United were in rough times I think some managers really were afraid to take time to develop guys and focus all energy on winning games. I don't think he did himself many favors at times either, but I loved the kid. The club didn't have much in the way of senior leadership at the time either which didn't help matters. I really wish he would have worked out at United even off the bench or going back to West Ham. I would have liked to see his energy and counter attacking ability within the squad for ETH.

@Vizeh undoubtedly man, the entire situation would repeat a cycle. New coach hired, win games, buy new players, team starts to falter and won't gel, then coach just focuses all energy on saving his ass lol if you surround him with a supportive environment mentally during such a dark period I think his carrer is in a different space. You hear the stories of a Manger like Fergy and how he cared about you beyond the pitch, how he'd ask about your wife and kids. You hear the same with ETH we saw how he just totally backed Sancho after he lost multiple family members. The man management beyond the pitch just wasn't there for Jesse or really Marcus either.

Great vid! From a forest fans perspective, Jesse is crucial to this teams success. Although he's been nothing less than disappointing in his game time, along with picking up an injury that held him out about for about almost 2 months (including WC break), Jesse's outgoing, and loving character is the glue in the locker room with 30 new faces. Every time forest win, it's a huge reaction from the fans and the team no matter the opponent. He bought into the culture of diehard fans that forest have, and he brings that energy day-in day-out no matter the minutes he plays, he's always the first to celebrate or comfort after a big moment or a mistake. His leadership is a quality he will carry with him wherever he goes in life. Everyone talks about his wages at forest, which is both fair and unfair. Sure we should be getting much more on the field but, in my opinion, what he's brings to the locker room is almost priceless.

I feel like I might get so much flack for saying this, but because of how he is at the very least from the games I watch him, he is willing to be a work horse and roam around and find oppotunities, he would have fit into the current Man United's squad under Ten Hag as an impact sub. David Moyes and Solskjaer usually plays him very uncomfortably, where he is much more restricted and therefore unable to roam and create opportunities as a CAM, so he felt stagnated. As soon as he switched to West Ham, where he is more comfortable and able to roam, he is brilliant. So I think it is sad that he couldn't have stayed for one more year and maybe let Ten Hag try him out, because he was put into systems where he cannot be the best of his ability, but by the time he left the club a manager comes in and changes said system that would have fit him otherwise.

He might have played a few games as an impact sub, but that's about it, hence i'm happy he's not sitting on the bench here and wasting his career any longer. He still has the potential to become a good player in a mid table club, but for that he needs to work hard on his fitness and his game, which at this moment i'm not sure he wants to do.

Another banger of a video Viz. As a United fan and therefore having watched him for the best part of 5 years I can say with strong conviction that he was just never really that good and a squad player for a mid table team at best. Yes the guy had his moments like the Fa cup final goal and scoring the occasional banger but when he started he was consistently underwhelming. He never looked like he had any star quality in him and often looked very average. Other than a 2 month period of very good form between Nov to Dec 2017, he was very underwhelming. I’m glad he left because as seen this season he just isn’t top team quality. He was at best a moments player who played on hype and emotion but when played consistently, he would always be 5/10. I know he’s been through some stuff mentally, but over his whole career, the fact still remains; he’s an average midtbale/ relegation side footballer who only played for United for so long because of the inadequacies of the club and the fact that he was from the academy. A moments player who was overrated when he was rated and now everyone has found out how average he really is.

I love Lingard. The weirdest part was I expected him to bounce back the way Rashford has. I think the managers at United (especially Ole), as well as the extremely critical United fanbase on social media might have affected him beyond repair. And funnily enough, I don't mind the fact that he was all over social media, or the dances he did. What was more important was that he clearly had a bond with his team mates and wanted to put his best out for United, both on and off the field. I can relate to that, that need to do right by those that lit that fire under you when you were younger. But his experience in the senior team probably left him disillusioned as both a player and a fan. Do I think he can bounce back? Yes, but he's going to have to reconcile his experiences at United with the senior team with what image he had when he joined the youth team

During one of the chances he got to prove himself, he was Captain for United with a very young side, it could have been a cup game or something. Bearing in mind he was Captain and should have been showing maturity and leadership, he scored a goal and as Chong ran to him to celebrate, Lingard ran away from him and straight to the camera to show off his stupid celebrations. He is so immature and attention seeking that he has no place as a Captain, and for someone who was at United for ages it showed that he would never be the right person to play in a top team. It's all about him and always will be, so to answer your comment - Don't complain that no-one cares about him because he does not seem to give a f**k about anyone but himself.

At the end of the day, people need to have realistic expectations on Football Players in general. Especially when it comes to youth players from the academy.
I say this because I felt that people had unrealistic expectations on Lingard, despite the fact that the vast majority of United Academy Products never really establish themselves in the First Team at Old Trafford or even play for United at all.

I saw a comment here saying that Lingard is average. To an extent I agree. But like the thing with players like Lingard, Alli, Quaresma, Ravel, and all the failed wonderkids of our era is that, no disrespect to anyone, but on their day, they can turn the game around by themselves, they can create things outta nowhere, and honestly these are the players people come to watch, and these are the players who catch the eyes and capture the imaginations of fans everywhere. So, when you're at a position like that, there will always be eyes on you, cause people know what you're capable of, and the entire baggage of expectations come across, and I wouldn't say it's their fault that they couldn't respond back to the criticism and press, cuz they are young lads and have no idea what's going on honestly, trying to catch up with so much fame and attention at such a young age and it's just the thing is, I just wanna say that even if they don't ever "realize their potential", i hope they can handle things better now in their personal lives and find some fucking peace. But yeah, Viz, my man, you've been amazing, great vid.

He does things his way, and is not a robot who is defined by his xG and expected key passes in attacking areas or whatever, and whether it is unprofessional or not, it really is his club's or his manager's opinion that matters and the way the media portrays him is just fucking atrocious and i cant imagine the pressure the lad's been under honestly

Football is festooned with examples of talented players who could not cut it in front of a crowd of supporters, it;'s the ultimate test between amateur and pro. If you've made the cut, it seems kind of unlikely that "I was drinking because the supporters were being mean to me." I'm not buying it at all.

This wasn’t helped by his massive social media presence and fame. In an ideal world he would’ve been moved on in his mid twenties to a mid table club and flourished (as he did at West Ham)
