    Superb video. I’ve used Sharepoint for years but focus on document storage. This has been a great help. Thanks George U.K.

    what if there is no sharepoint/sharepoint is missing from the options?

      If you do not have the SharePoint link in your "waffle", you can try to find it under All Apps. If you still can't find it, you might not be licensed to use SharePoint.

    This may seem like a stupid question.. would anyone use this as a customer facing website?
    Thank you!

    • @BulbDigital
      @BulbDigital  Před rokem +5

      SharePoint is not suitable for a customer-facing web site as it doesn't allow anonymous access. This means that anyone who would access a SharePoint site must be authenticated. It can't just be a "random" user.

    With MS Loop, MS Teams, already being used for information storage and sharing, how should Sharepoint be used without being redundant?

    • @BulbDigital
      @BulbDigital  Před rokem +2

      Each of these tools have different "sweet spots". It is a matter of figuring out what works for you and getting your whole team on board 🙌
      This is how we currently think about these tools:
      - We only use SharePoint by itself for communication. If we have any sort of collaboration requirement, we do not use SharePoint alone.
      - We use some combination of Teams and Loop for any collaboration we need. We pretty much always use Teams, but will often create a Loop workspace to make quick "enhanced" collaboration easier.
      If you store any files within Teams you are actually storing them in a SharePoint site that is associated with the Team.

    Thanks for uploading this. However, this is not a complete guide for beginners. You don't explain what SharePoint is, what is does, who uses it, etc. You assume we know all of that and dive right in.
    For example, what ARE 'sites'? What ARE 'pages' and 'news' etc? You say that SharePoint has content from across SharePoint within an organization that we have access to. What does this mean? Does this mean that any document/info that has ever been shared with you from other org users gets collected in SharePoint automatically? Or do other users in the organization log into SharePoint and manage access to docs/data from there?
    Is SharePoint essentially the main application Microsoft offers for managing information within an organization? So it is used for knowledge management? Then why does it have lists? So is it a tool for project management? Why is there a separate 'lists' application when SharePoint also has lists?

      Thanks for the feedback - I just updated the title to hopefully better describe the video.
      These are all great questions, we'll add them to our list for another video. And in the meantime we'll try to answer a few here shortly.

      From Matt: These are great questions and you are right that this video isn't intended to explain what SharePoint is or how it might fit into your life.
      Unfortunately, I can't answer all of these questions in a CZcams comment and it might be a while before I can revisit in a blog or video. So I posted a LinkedIn post that might help.

    I thought you said "beginners." Don't you think you might have led with "here's what sharepoint is for, and here's what sharepoint does"...?

      Valid point! Perhaps we should have called this something like "how to use Sharepoint as an end user". Thanks for the comment.

      Yes, for a start I came here to find out the purpose of Sharepoint. That would be a good introduction.

      @Woodscraps1798 I think our companies use the same training techniques.
      1 - Announce we're moving to Sharepoint
      2 - Launch Sharepoint
      3 - Communicate nothing else about Sharepoint

    • @BulbDigital
      @BulbDigital  Před rokem

      We did end up adjusting the title to this per the feedback - we always hate to see SharePoint projects die after launch, and we do our best to set clients up for success when we're directly involved. Some other resources of ours that may be helpful:
