    You are the 1st coach I encounter doing exactly the same as I used to do: in a staccato manner, hammering down as much knowledge in the shortest time space possible, using the most concise, self-produced explanatory words available. This means you LOVE your students/public. But April, it is damn hard too after a while. I managed to do it 15 years (Excel and Access for advanced users). Then i burned up and moved myself in a corner, quietly developing apps and dashboards. So be carefull, people can be so demanding and esp. take everything for granted, sucking you empty, but for now, let the EDUCATIONAL FORCE be with you!

    Hi April, thank you for the amazing videos! I have a question on a sharepoint document library. I do have a calculated column that gets the 1st letter of a client name. When I pinned it to the filters pane is not sorted alphabetically. I've add the column sort to the view but nothing seems to work. If this is not possible. Is there a way to group the library using 3 columns. The grouping seems to be limited to two columns. Any ideas?

    • @AprilDunnam
      @AprilDunnam  Před 3 lety

      You're welcome! Unfortunately SharePoint doesn't support permissions on list views. You can do things like filtering a view based on data in a person field to change what users see in the view. However, that isn't scalable and isn't actually security. It's just security by obscurity, if they know how to change url's they can still get to the data.

    • @AprilDunnam
      @AprilDunnam  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey there - yes there is. There is an IfError() function in Power Apps that you can use to catch errors and you can output those to a data source of your choice. Same thing with Power Automate. You can add in actions in your flows that will output logging into another data source (SP list, etc) to have that history. Here's some more info on Power Apps error handling: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/functions/function-iferror

    • @AprilDunnam

      There are different kinds of development that you can do with SharePoint so it depends on what you're wanting to do. For example, we can use low code tools to develop on SharePoint with the Power Platform and List formatting. But if you want to do more complex things like custom web parts and page extensions then yes, you do need to know how to code (C#, JavaScript, etc)
