  • Replacing a faulty alternator with a new one on a 2015 Jeep Patriot equipped with a 2.4L engine. Replacement procedure is the relatively the same throughout 2007-2017 model Jeep Dodge Chrysler vehicles with the 2.0L and 2.4L Engines.

I feel like this would have been a great video if we could have seen anything. Really good descriptions of what you were doing, but it may as well have been a podcast. Gotta pick up some cheap shop lights from Harbor Freight.

This is probably the best out of 20 video's I watched.....appreciate it.

Bout to attempt my own alternator swap on my jeep tomorrow, gonna watch this video like 10 times before I start lol. Lighting was definitely lacking but your descriptions give me confidence lol

Watching this after I just finished doing this job… what a pain to get out of there one of the hardest alternator jobs I’ve done

  • @lancemontoya2096

Btw, i think your lighting was good enough cuz thats about all that anyone is ever going to see anyway while out in the sunshine working on their car. I think the people complaining have just never tried video recording the work being done on a car before WHILE ALSO BEING THE ONE WORKING ON THE CAR. Very difficult to do.

This video helped me out a lot. I've changed a few alternators on other makes but this was the most work I ever had to do just to change an alternator.

If you don't have that neat little pry tool for the plastic thingys that hold the sides of the bottom cover off, a router wrench will work just fine.

Just changed out my alt. on a 2014 patriot 2.0. Advance auto $150 for 115 amp. The hardest part was getting it back in until i removed the oil filter and brought it in that way. Dont try and fit it back in the way it came out. total fail until i decided to change my oil in the process and remove the oil filter. Alternator when in with no problem.

Aweseome video! 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿 You covered A to Z. If you can do it with one hand, I think I can get it done with two in about 9 hours! 😂 The difficulty is paying for the dog gone alternator. 😢 One thing, I would have tested the system before putting the cover and wheel back on.

Can't believe you have all the parts sitting on the trunk of that 65 Mustang 😮

Why don't you have some light on this so we can see what you're doing?

  • @misc5831

OEM is 120 amp. I only see 115 amp or 145 amp online. Will these cause an issue? Any sources for decent prices? $350 is tough right now..

Alternator comes out and goes in easy from behind the AC compressor when the the compressor is hanging like shown in the video.
