Real talk Jay! I come from a violent lifestyle, pants saggin, bangin, slangin, stealin, Cocaine, Meth, Weed, alcoholism and seen it all & many lives destroyed, I was a puppet tap dancing for the devil. I pulled out a lil over a year ago through the power of JESUS CHRIST now im all about helping the youth and every body I can. We get conditioned to a life style of struggle, hate, envy, crime, addiction, lack of vision and broken lives. Alcohol,Violence and Fighting was the poison I chose I loved it and had no problem engaging in it. Today Im grateful to JESUS CHRIST for pulling me out of the dark life style I was in. Peepz we have to educate ourselves and break the CYCLE of thinking and acting like victims, like Jay said WAKE UP!!!. Take charge of your life, family and skool your kids before the streets do! or they will become another statistic of the streets. BREAK THE CYCLE! it starts at home not with Obama. Dont wait for the gov or anybody else to bail you out, you have to dig deep and never accept poverty or a wreckless life style as the norm or a permanent condition. Keep your head up and remember the words of Frederick Douglass, " With out struggle there is no progress" forget waiting for a leader YOU ARE ALREADY A LEADER your just holding back the gift that God gave you. Some of our so called black leaders are misleading our kids with this CRAP music degrading woman promoting drugs, violence and materialism is NOT COOL AT ALL. Some of our own stuff is poisoning our own communities and are lies from the pit, Dont letem foolya!. It dont take a village to raise a child, forget that noise, it takes a real man to MAN UP instead of being selfish and abandoning his child to raise his child right. Put Jesus Christ first never ever give up or back down and keep on smashin on it in JESUS MIGHTY NAME!

OH. MY. GOD. JAY. LOL this is the first time i'm hearing this lol I was used to the sweet talk black love, and this gave me a dose of the hard core black love. And I still love it! I am blown away by this! At the same time, SOO inspired! This has inspired me to put together my next presentation on a discourse of CULTURAL CAPITAL. This is what we need to deconstruct and rebuild, Jay-our cultural capital and therefore create a habitus for success in environments outside of the hood! We need to create cultural capital that will give us a habitus for success in society-higher educational systems, the work force and in the environments that you are currently in! Currently, us black and brown folk that come from the hood, have the type of cultural capital that helps us navigate the environment of the "hood" pretty well: the things is takes us to stay "cool" and stay alive and accepted and thought of highly in the hood: things like the latest Jordans, the latest Iphone, the hoover board, the coolest hair cuts, the coolest jeans, clothing, the coolest slang, talk, all the ladies...That type of cultural capital we have in the hood, having those things, that swag, that level of cool, are elements that dictate where we stand in terms of social order in the hood-yes, like you said, we'll be very cool, and many times will prevent us from being jumped, called names, attacked or harrassed for being corny if you dont have these elements. But being able to navigate successfully in the hood is not the only capital we need, the hood is not the only ennvironemnt we must learn to successfully navigate. Habitus is the embodiment of the culture capital that exists naturally within us. Like you Jay, you are naturally cool and you have the habitus to successfully navigate the hood when you go there (you can code switch) However, somewhere along the we, you developed relationships and social influences for a different type of social groups that allowed to obtain another type of culture capital. it was the type of capital you needed to put you on another level of social standing, outside of the hood, in corporate american. Not only are you at high standings and able to successfully navigate the hood, now with you new learned type of cultural capital and the habitus you now possess within you person, with elements such as the way you carry yourself, your speech, your eloquence, your tasteful and classy clothing, your demeanor, your respect, your self esteem, your confidence, your knowledge, your well-roundedness, your expertise, your friendliness, your love,-all of these elements you now naturally embody and portray has given you a new level of social standing among a different type of social group. AND THIS IS WHAT WE NEED TO TEACH OUR PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY OUR ADOLESCENTS IN THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT. there is more to life then the neighborhood they come from-sometimes that is all they can see-when they have no hope or trust in a system. So many of us, even when we make it to college, we dont know how to navigate that system and many of us drop out within the first year..
I believe the elements of the latter type of cultural capital is needed to be instilled in our youth so that they learn how to navigate different types of educational system, society, corporate american, and a dignified work force.
    Here are some stats:
30% of college and university students drop out after their first year. Half never graduate.
Hispanics & Blacks are underrepresented among those with bachelor’s degrees. In 2012, Blacks made up 14% of college-aged students (ages 18 to 24), yet just 9% of bachelor’s degrees earned by young adults. Same exact statistic for Hispanics, make up 9% of young adults with bachelor's degree.
In 2012, whites accounted for 58% of college-aged students, but 69% of young adults with bachelor’s degrees.
In 2012, Asians accounted for 7% of college-aged students but 11% of bachelor’s degrees earned.

    Great advice Jay !!
I am a young Jamaican businessman who is running two successful businesses up here in Canada.
I owned five Large rental apartments and a industrial equipment business.
I use one business capital to purchase real-estate.
Apartments are easier to buy because the revenue can cover the mortgage.
What I hate the most is when I hear African Americans or African wherever referring to themselves as black.
We must attach our self to a country or a positive entity or place.
Calling our self black, will always be considered negative because it was a label given to us by racist slave owners.
Our race, must come with a country , just like the,
Italians , Greeks , Polish, Indians, etc.
Why must we be labeled by the negative colour black ?
    Even a Dog has a name !
    We are called blacks !
Most of us are not even black in colour, we come in so many different shades of brown.
Blackonia just does not cut it !
    We need to belong somewhere.
Does anyone feel the same way I do ?
Please help me with this !

      Nas Hussein Hi Nas !!
Right now , Real-estate is the only sure way to make millions.
I started by buying small houses, lived in them while renovating, then selling.
Made $ 100K on my 3rd flip and made nothing on my first two.
On my fourth flip, I bought a nice cottage renovated the bathroom and kitchen then flipped that for a 70k profit.
My fourth purchase was a Family apartment of 6 units. We call them 6 plexes. Paid 420K, it is now worth a cool Million.
I am keeping this one for some Income because my other business is not doing that good right now.
Nas ! right now I have 5 large apartments containing 50 apartments total.
The 50 rental income is rely good, but a lot of work.
Please be specific on your questions because I have lots of information for you.
You can email me at { gtsc2000@aol.com } with your questions.
I will give you my top ten tips.
Stay positive my African brother !

Jay...Keep doing what you are doing bruh!! I believe in your movement but disagree with you in ONE aspect. I don't feel that the Black community needs another LEADER. Leaders are human and humans are prone to making mistakes. TRUE LEADERS in the Black community are usually killed, shamed or exiled if their movement is effective. People follow charismatic leaders like yourself and when something happens to that leader the movement usually falls flat on its face. It is part of asymmetrical warfare. Seek to be an example and build a coalition of other like minded people that move the culture forward. If one falls or is targeted the movement can still push forward and continue the work. Don't let EGO ruin your ability to affect change. "LEARN FROM YOUR HISTORY OR YOU WILL BE BOUND TO REPEAT IT" Much Respect ~Jo

Good stuff as usual Jay! I definitely rock with what you are saying and what you are trying to do... but lets keep it real! JayZ, Wayne, Ross, etc are not trying to help our people/youth to get it together. If they really cared they would have BEEN done it by now. However, I believe Jeezy would take action because he actually stands for something. Now -- Wayne stated on camera that it is the parents job to teach their kids about the very things you are talking about. You and I both know the labels aren't with helping our people ..simply because most hip hop music is created to hold the black community back and keep them distracted (for the ones who allow it to do so). Right?

Dreads or Locks are apart of our culture. Its how our hair grows. I know many individuals with locks in their hair as professionals in their own field of work. It doesn't and it shouldn't matter own how your hair looks when making money or sustaining a great career. White America has damaged many people's mind set on how WE should look like or appear and that is a slave mentality. Other than that, Jay Morrison is one of the greatest rode models Ive seen in a long time. I plan on becoming one of his proteges! I dont think you had to reupload this man. Get away from that street talk. Educated blacks are the ones you need to focus on. The poor will be lifted by their example.

I agree bro. most people out here are relate able. People want to see something different from someone they know or knew. It's real out here and we have to lead by example. From there you will put people on by inspiration. Peace

      Frustrated Black Man
Brother I definitely understand ur view. It's true....from ur perspective. I'll never discredit ur way of seeing ur point. Please allow me to advance this point: we DO NEED to select a better use of language (like the brother Bambi who Malcolm X met in prison). However when u get in the trenches to talk to the man in the trenches, u sometimes have to speak "Trench-ese". Their language. Example IS ABSOLUTELY the best teacher my brother nevertheless there's a gap btwn the brother in the hood and the brother who's in the suburbs as well as the black man who lives in the affluent neighborhood who makes close to 7 figures. There's still a gap btwn these 3 different groups of Black men. It's good for our brother who has made 7 figures to come back to the man struggling to get up from the bottom and bridge the gap. Sometimes we gotta get up close and run shoulders with our people who JUST DON'T KNOW (ignorant) and talk their talk as well as show the example. At the proper time, we show them how to elevate their use of language as well.
Thank u brother. Stay strong. U am ur brother and I too am a frustrated black man.

Let's not lead in profanity usage!!! Do you think that makes one cool??? Kings and Queens speak in a language that does not have to stoop to such vulgar language.. Otherwise, this could be a great video message...just an opinion..peace and love in Christ Jesus!

It's just passion, though it may influence other people to speak that way it's only a 50/50 chance imo. Strong minded people knpw what's up.
