#CEDH #EDH - Hry
Hope you all enjoyed the videos from our guests stream with Play to Win! This will be the last video from that stream, but we will hopefully be able to get more guests on the stream and on the channel in the very near future! If you're interested in seeing them as they are played live be sure to check out the Twitch channel and give it a follow! www.twitch.tv/casuallycompetitivemtg
Hold up, so you are Joseph?! Very cool how you can refer to yourself consistently in the third person.
"People like making fun of me anyway, so let's give them more fuel for the fire" are excellent words to live by
Sure, it was a risky keep but, like you said, it wasn't too far-fetched to expect to get that one elusive land early on. I think we've all been in that sort of position where we keep a risky hand to see if we can make it work. It's part of the game.
That's a whole lot of artifacts doing nothing
Joseph on stream- "I only have 3 lands on turn 8" keeps 0 lander...
Awesome channel, glad you’re still going despite the quarantine! keep it up!
Hey,
The short videos are exceptional!, don't be embarrassed exposing these short videos, these two videos were excellent, exemplary episodes of the exquisite execution of established combos we can all be enlightened by
i personally love, when there are two or more games in a video :)
Great channel guys!
Thanks again for the amazing content!
Thank you, I love the amazing videos!
Any content is good content when it comes to cedh games. Short, medium, long. It's all good.
Man, that Turbo Akiri deck put in work
Third episode within a week, a luxury we need but dont deserve
Early game wins are part of cedh, glad you showcased it here
Loved gambling on hands like that. I once kept a no land hand in my Jodah deck, and almost won on turn 3 XD
good to hear justification for no-land hands :D, pretty wild to see people dig out of it
It would be cool to see you guys invite cEDH_tv's Mons.
That risky hand made me chuckle very hard.
love it!
That was a sexy Brallin game, I just made mine and I am happy I got to see how well it performs :)
I enjoy the short games being at the end of shorter videos
FYI, Brallin is a dude. Despite the long hair, the lack of a shirt is a pretty good tell.
@@unimaginative_artist and why is that funny?
@@unimaginative_artist it's for sure just a corporate interest, like every company wearing pride flags during pride month and being like "pls buy our products we are woke".
And you can see that they only care marginally because they retconned Chandra x Nissa just to be able to sell in countries that oppose LGBTQ+ rights.
However I do like that more diversity is being introduced in the game. MtG has had gender neutral oracle texts for years (using "they" to refer to third person), and LGBTQ+ characters have existed for quite some years too.
If this makes you uneasy or offends you I think it's your problem.
@@unimaginative_artist politics has been a part of art, and thus gaming, since always.
Just because you only now started realising that in general the politics in said games is different from your worldview, it's no one's fault but yours.
If you don't like games because they discuss topics such as LGBTQ+ and that offends you, that's your problem.
@@unimaginative_artist most older games have had straight white males as protagonists. Guess what, they had a race: Caucasian or Nordic. Guess what, they had a sexual orientation: straight. Guess what, they even had a gender: cis male.
You just did not notice because that's what is normal for you. Because you could relate to that.
All other kinds of people, of other races, sexual orientation, gender, could not really relate.
There are other games with loads of character customization, sure.
And now there are more and more games where the protagonist(s) differ from what you are. There might be female protagonists, gay protagonists, black protagonists, whatever. Other people can relate with these characters way more. You a bit less, I guess.
Why do you care? You can still play the games. Isn't the game itself that is so important to you?
Or are you now going to be political and say that you necessarily want the protagonist to be a white straight male?
@@unimaginative_artist if your view is that games should only feature straight white males, then yeah sure, your view is just plain wrong.
And nothing is being forced on you. Literally no one is forcing you to play games, you realize that? If you're so sensitive that seeing a gay character hurts you, maybe you should just play chess and stuff like that, don't you think?
Love the channel!
Glad you're enjoying the content!
I want to see all of your games, sub turn 4 included.
I learned this the hard way... a potentially explosive hand that does nothing if you fail to topdeck that land you need = NO.
Don't tempt fate.
That game2 hand! the greed is real!!
Is there somewhere I can see the stretch goal playmats a little better? I'm interested in the art on those, but the image on there is small/has a price tag covering part of it, so I can't make them out very well...
Whenever I try to look at the Brallin Curiosity it just gives an error page.
Lol Joseph no need to apologize, you gotta have fun sometimes, that video was no less entertaining for your choice. Keep up the greats vids, love you all.
Can y’all do a grumgully deck soon, I want to see how y’all build it.
He gives the shrooms
Game 2 pass from Turn 2 to 7 ( Bill's turn ), donno if it's easy to fix.
It's easy to fix if I didn't miss it while editing. Typos are literally the bane of my existence
Question, say one of the Bralin/Niv-Mizzet curiosity comvo's opponents has something like 200 life, would the bralin player draw themselves out and lose?
Curiosity is a may so they’d probably draw until they have the other 2 dead and then stop. Also that much lifegain isn’t common in cEDH bc decks either don’t kill their opponents to win or deal infinite damage so there’s almost no reason to be able to gain that much life.
I dont diss that opening hand. I once kept a 1 land hand and still cast an Ur-Dragon on t4
I dont mind shorter games added at the end, its basically a little bonus!
Do more of those please
I love Adam's playmat - any chance to get it anywhere?
The five color one? It's available on our playmat Kickstarter, link is in the description of the video
@@CasuallyCompetitiveMTG thank you!
Joseph is a man if science.
You gotta just run it sometimes. Especially since I'm known on stream to keep notoriously low land hands.. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity
@@CasuallyCompetitiveMTG Honestly, same. You don't have anything to lose but so much knowledge to gain.
Brallin is a guy, Joseph. 🤣🤣
Brallin with Curiosity survives a full rotation untouched... yup, game over.
yo, is that a Summer Magic Wheel of Fortune at 7:56? That's worth more than an Alpha one O.O
I love the content, if you were only putting out 1 short game then it would be a bit annoying/wasteful, but putting 2 games together like this is an ideal way to give your viewers real CEDH while not shortchanging them on content.
I bet if you polled your viewers, over 50% would have kept that mana rich hand.
For korvold combo, since he has no library anymore, does he lose that game since he cant draw cards anymore?
No because once he had the Impact Tremors on the field, he had no more use for Korvold and just kept casting and exiling Squee over and over again to ping everyone to death. Joseph even points out that Bill exiles Korvold before sacrificing the prospector so as to not draw.
Great game!!! And I love Korvold...But he's soooooooo degenerate :-D jund goodness all over the place
On Rolling Earthquake, don't you also take the damage from the card? Unless you have protection from the damage or everyone hopefully has a little less life than you, how do you win using it?
If infinite Mana has already been generated and the library has been drawn, the easiest option is casting Angels Grace before earthquake resolves
Casually Competitive MTG Ah, thank you for explaining!
Don't feel bad for that opening hand. I find myself saying "Let's see what happens" more often than not.
as someone who really enjoys niv mizzet (not to cedh level, but still controlling with curiosity), i'm somewhat sad (and somewhat happy, as it plays reasonably similar) how brallin+ skyshark basically are just straight up better, getting a better colour combo, cheaper combo, easier mana cost, but less value inbuilt.
greedy hands are what make me lose xD
where is mizzix of the izmagnus?
Mizzix will show up one day. She's a little bit on the weaker side in terms of consistency so I'm waiting until there's a fitting pod to sleeve it up
I don't get how brallin doesn't deck out is there an eldrazi in the list? Nvm silly me he says each opponent
Joseph should play Urza.
Er... I might be missing something here but in game 1 Dylan only had like 83 cards left in his deck when the Curiosity went off, and the other three players had over a hundred life between them. Ergo he must have left on of them alive. Anyone care to explain this?
Brallin does damage to each opponent on each discard
@@CasuallyCompetitiveMTG Haha silly me, always a good idea to actually read the card... :/
why did turn 2 change to turn 7 on game 2 😂😂😂
food chain wins games, always
Honestly I have no issues keeping that hand. I would have done it too. the thing with cEDH is that if that hand fail the game ends fast. Regular edh that would have been pure misery sitting there stuck on mana.
I mean, who of us would NEVER try to keep such a "brown" hand? XD
you know I love these videos, but how is it that the average number of players who start with or first draw a mana crypt is 2.5?
For each mulligan, each player has just over an 8% chance to see a Mana Crypt (counting the first draw), so if you assume a few mulligans it's not terrible unlikely. Overall our average is definitely lower than 2.5, but with Mana Crypt being such a good card and with people sometimes keeping a hand due to a Crypt, it's seen fairly often
Does dylan have enough cards in his library to deal all the damage?
Brallin deals 1 damage to each opponent on each discard so he only needed 38 cards in his library, which he had
Easily. I counted 87 cards in his library when he cast the wheel. 87 - 7 - 9 would leave him 71. I may be off a few cards, but I don’t think I missed by 30.
@@CasuallyCompetitiveMTG That's right. I hadn't read the card well, I thought it was similar to niv mizzet's ability.
Issues with the Braelin deck list
What was up with Baral playing like a Timmy?
As a Baral player not at least bluffing Counterspells hurt to see
How is Dylan able to ping his opponents drawing cards if the deck has only 99 cards and each opponent has more than 33 life? Kind new in the competitive scene here
Thanks a lot, great video!
Brallin pingd each opponent so he only needs 41 cards in library.
yisan forever
The total life point was 103 for the 3 players, how did Dylan won yhe first game?
There's no way for him to discard 103 cards...
I feel like that was a reasonable keep, not great, but alright
The goal of my deck is to win☺
In game 1, Dylan could not have actually won on that turn because brallin requires you to discard 1 card to deal one damage. He would essentially have to discard 33+32+38=103 cards to bring everyone to 0 life points. That is obviously impossible because deck size is 100 and he clearly doesn’t even have 100 left. And the argument could be made that he could have a shuffled such as an eldrazi but there are no shufflers in the decklist. So was this an oversight because based on what I see here he couldn’t have won on this turn.
It deals one damage to each opponent for each discarded card, not a single opponent.
He repeats the clean up step after every discard after drawing from Curiosity, so yes, he actually could win that way. The main Brallin win con is to discard with a Curiosity on the field.
Literally me whenever I play MTGArena. If I have two lands in my opening hand, I never keep it because I know I won't draw another land in the next 5 turns
first, also thanks guys
Third, also you're welcome!
don't worry, having a 0 land hand but plenty of mana sources is still good, but that's coming from a guy with an Emry deck
My man Adam really needs to activate Windows.
How could he have won did he have a shuffle effect there's 103 life left he didnt have enough cards left to win
Damn, even with 2 games, this was sadly a pretty ho hum video. Dull wincons, but that speaks more of the state of cEDH, not the channel, you guys are awesome
What kind of baral gets tapped playing competitive without a free counterspell in hand? 💔
Man it's a sad state were living in where you felt the need to explain your opening hand because of people jumping up all over you for any mistake. It's cool that you guys do it but I wouldn't want to post my games.
Cedh decks are too greedy/don't run enough lands. That second game shows it fully
Keeping a zero land hand is dumb as it is. But, trying to justify it further is just plain stupid.
FYI Brallin is a dude....you always say "her" XD
The first game is the reason I have no desire to play cedh. Just dumb, this is the reason people stopped playing competitive Mtg in general. It’s not fun, it’s mostly luck and meta
I much prefer cEDH to casual because you can get multiple games in in a shorter amount of time, the games are often very interactive, and there’s very little pissing and moaning about taboo strategies and the social contract.
Why don't you guys play at each other's houses?
Just wash your hands and put on a mask.
