I think many ex-pats chose to not eat or drink. Often, I am offered food and drink by my students and parents who are fasting. I always decline the offer.

Most of the people who live in big cities are merchants and owners of shops. On Eid al-Fitr and al-Adha, most of them travel to visit their families in villages and small towns. That is why you find most of the shops closed even after the Eid prayer.

It was really nice to experience the silence and to see the pigeons take over the market. I often go walking through the market in the very early morning (5am) it's a beautiful time of day.

The thing with dogs is multiple reasons causes people to be sensitive to them (dogs) , people sees dogs more aggressive than cats so they tend to keep distance , other reason is in islam dogs are not meant to be treated like a house animal but still they're just a beautiful creation of Allah and they need to be treated as kind as you treading cats and any other living thing but people kinda tooked just the not "house animal" part and lived with it , all these lead to the Moroccans / dogs relationship

The situation of animals in general should improve. The majority treat them well in the streets and fearing humans is not really a sign of abuse.
At least in the streets we can know what is happening to them, there are people who abuse them inside their house.
I guess the best way to protect animals is to put them in an animal sanctuary where we can make sure they're treated well.
Although, some animal shelters are not that protective. I think it's great that the government have decided to capture the dogs, ensure they are healthy and stop them reproducing.
Actually the relationship between dogs and humans here in Morocco it’s just crasy 😂 Because most of them are not pets, therefore they often suffer from rabies, bedbugs, or another disease. So fear (and not hate) is reciprocated from both sides actually😅(unfortunately). But as you said it’s changing now for all social classes, especially young people they’re coming very friendly with dogs which is good. And change is good as well but it TAKES TIME ! 😊 thanks for the video and be well !
You are right that there is a lot of fear between humans and dogs, which is a significant cause of the treatment on both sides. It's a shame because dogs really are our link to the animal world.

Amazing video and great closing thoughts. The remark about dogs and animal treatment in general in Morocco is on point. Unfortunately, people are vicious towards dogs indeed. I hope to see a major improvement one day in Morocco. Change is needed.
I think change is already happening. One thing I would love to see is dogs being allowed on public transport as they are in the Europe. I think that will be many years in the future.

Eid is an important ritual in the islamic faith is resembles the end of fasting month ramadan, the Eid day is detected a day before by seeing the whole moon gone meaning month has ended, the other Eid called the Big Eid celebrated 2 months after first Eid is also widely celebrated and you have to sacrifice an animal to God mostly Sheep & Cow , because unlike Christians who believe Jesus Christ is the ultimate sacrifise to God for all humanity , muslims still follow the pre-jesus jewish way of sacrifising animals to a deity , and this act resembles Abraham sacrifising his son ishmail as the story goes in the Quran & Bible

Enjoy the sound of silence 😄 as a Moroccan I don't like the way we treat animals in general in Morocco , not only dogs but cats , monkeys , donkeys etc ... . As to dogs it's a cultural problem ,we usually consider them as "impure" so we don't pet them or allow them inside our homes ,and there's too many of them on the streets as stray dogs ,their numbers should be checked and dealt with somehow , same for cats as you notice !
we don't allow dogs in our home for a reason as for the bad treatment of animals here in Morocco is totally unethical and and I totally agree w/ you.

Yes it's a cultural problem because even in Turkey where the population is almost all muslims and they don't pet them, they take really care of them, in the entrance of a lot of restaurants for example you find water and food for dogs and cats mashallah
