Nelson and Laporte were both great fighters. I’ve seem some comments if Nelson had fought Sanchez again, the outcome might have been different. Laporte (10th round) caught Salvador with an uppercut and left hook that would have ended most fighters. Sanchez was immediately counterpunching. Salvador fought every great fighter of his time and won them all. We won’t know what might have been but I don’t think anyone could have beaten the great Salvador Sanchez then.

La porte, wilfredo vasquez were not at the level of salvador sanchez or jesse james leija, genaro hernandez, jeff fench, or pernell whitaker... those two puelto ricans couldnt defear the professor.. the professor was simply better and at a higher class of professionalism and expertise.
