- Part of the Ulysses 31 Restoration Project; "Calypso" (Episode 25 of 26). Although I have spent hours restoring this classic 80's cartoon please note that I own nothing and will be happy to remove content if asked.
This is probably my favourite ever cartoon of the 80s. It truly is a cartoon masterpiece. None of the crap kids watch today can compare.
I like that Ulyesses cries in this one since, being close to the end, it shows the trial taking their toll on him.
Great Ep. Every couple of Years I get round to re-watching etc. Willy Fogg and Cities of Gold and Dogtanian too :-)
Has to be the saddest episode of this series. Had me in bits ever since the 90s
7:06 "You cannot leave the ship. In Ulysses absence, Telemachus, you are responsible for the Odyssey". I can't believe it worked. It has never stopped him before.
Thanks for your work on these, I’ve just worked my way through all of them. I haven’t seen this since the run on BBC1 around 1985. It really holds up, the stories are excellent, in fact many are better than some of the live action sci-fi shows. I’m surprised that the people who own this show haven’t already put out a remastered blu-ray version, for such a high calibre show it seems overlooked. Thanks again for some sterling work :)
You never saw the crew of Star Trek running down a corridor. Ulysses is truly a man of action.
The sets of Star Trek were smaller than you think. Run and you'll faceplant into a wall XD
what a beautiful episode
The end scene when calipso turns to sand, i remembered it from when i was i kid ❤ has to be at least 30 yrs since i last seen that lol 😢😢😢
this is one of the saddest episodes. The gods are pure evil.
Muy buen episodio 🤩🤗😎!!!!
excellent work!! a real classic series :)
Thank you for your hard work. Happy new year to you. :)
one more left....happy new year for you and your family
Wow. Mood hair.
Apparently, Ulysses would have had two extra-marital affairs while they were wandering the Olympian universe-- with Circe and Calypso.
Another poignant 'deep' episode of this classic series.
Calypso's hair gives me nightmares I have that phobia where you are scared of gross patterns
In this episode Ulysses rightly abandons his son and companions to continue his life with Calypso, someone who finally has as awesome hair as his own.
He good some good hair unlike Calipso. 80s hair does not do it for me
It should have ended the series with this episode, and they happily fornicated forever!
@@reverendbluejeans1748 men's 80's hair was the best! You Lying! 😭
Infidelity is not a joke! I only hope it’s not yours… He says!
Poor Penelope!
Happy NY peeps, the Way back to Earth is coming back to us, Yeppers ™ ;)
Time for the stone sleepers to awaken guys & gals.
Always liked the way Nestor shakes his head in the intro & Ulysses using his shield against many foes. A true Hero.
Ps No-no /Nono killed the giant Cyclops ...
Yes, that is a very good point that only hardcore fans will likely remember. it WAS Nono who slew the cyclops. The intro tells a pack of LIES! :)
This might be the first time we see Zeussian lightning instead of Triderntery
in the original myth, Ulysses stayed with Calypso for 7 years but in the end just couldn't bare to be away from his wife Penelope any longer. Ulysses left his immortal girl friend along with the immortality she offered and infinite pleasures because he loved Penelope just too much. It wasn't about his duty as a husband or shame of cheating on Penelope, but just pure love and need for her. Now that's a wife.
There's a big lesson in that, too much of anything - even happiness or pleasure only causes sorrow.
There is no such thing as eternal happiness and sorrow, all things are finite and impermanent.
Odysseues understood this, it was in his nature to carry out his purpose as a mortal man, live his life and move on.....
Ulysses abandoned the Gods… Everything after that fact is moot!
Is it my audio setup or is it only the last minute of each episode in full stereo?
Thank that God of war came did clean up the Olympus later
is it me or is the tone of the sound higher by about 20% over the original?
Great episode, I can't help thinking that Calypso was supposed to a black woman and her hair was meant to be an afro maybe
What I got out of it was that Calypso and her sisters along with the whole planet were silicon based life.
Thumbs up!
Jose garica : oh look brother oh poor man he's only wish you need a girlfriend for her for anything brother she can do this all alone already
Ose dark Garcia : I think you're my brother poor guy bother there might be some way you can remember who this picture or we need a deviantart With google so we can wish we could see all these characters
be cool
We’ll delete your comments, Lara!
What about his wife? wtf?
That's not the way of talking .. You never know when someone else comes into your life so dont act like you know better ...
Penelope lacked the crystal hair…what was he supposed to do? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Why didn't they just make Calypso a black woman? That was clearly meant to be an afro on her head
Hello! It was the '80's!
There's na pretty neat take of Ulysses 'landing' on the island of Calypso with Armand Assande
(Italian coproduction) there's he has an abundance of women, who tend to his every wish...
Still Calypso, has a huge crush with him, and he breaks her, allowing him to escape back into the vast occan with her own help....
Well at least the women part ,was right in this episode, it would have turned into a PG-13, if all of them wanted to make him their Love slave, now wouldn't it?
😐
