- Part of the Ulysses 31 Restoration Project; "The Lost Planet" (Episode 5 of 26). Although I have spent hours restoring this classic 80's cartoon please note that I own nothing and will be happy to remove content if asked.
The lifeless bodies with the still running shadows is pure Ulyses 31 - creepy, sinister and just brilliant scf-fi all round. Some of the design concepts in the production are superb!
Such gorgeous animation... Look at those backgrounds! This is art, my friends. I had to press "pause" several times so I could enjoy every details. Early 80s sci-fi fantasy paintings, with mythological references.
I love these several episodes where Numinor comes back to life.
Crazy to think this was made 40 years ago.
I feel old.
Always loved how for an animated show this show relied on Sir Isaac Newton's "law of physics", i.e. when the Odyssey uses its thrusters to maneuver in space to achieve planetary obit or go in a different direction via navigation and set its course etc.
I love this cartoon brings back so many memories. I know it sounds silly but I still watch it even now
Alien worlds that were actually alien. Modern SF shows like Star Treks could take a goddamn lesson from this 40 year old gem.
It's all about money, of course. Everyone's continually pushed to do more for less. Imagination takes backseat.
@@tsm688: Today, the studios are extremely reluctant to take any financial risks on new ideas. They prefer to play it safe by endlessly recycling old IPs.
What deliciously complex stories. That frozen people, but running shadows was some Doctor Who ish.
Different times mate, I mean, the artistry in these old animations (Japanese, French and US alike) was fueled by a 70's till early 80's LSD remnant culture. The art style alone is in a league of it's own.
You've no idea how much I appreciate this. Thanks.
thank you for up loading this wonderful bit of nostalgia
BIG hugs and much love xx
Ulysses didn't kill the cyclops nono did
kids today missed out on this era of great cartoons, i feel bad for them and the ridiculous crap they have as entertainment now.
Wish I could get the ending song when Nyuminor goes back to sleep.
"Free! Free to be trapped lost in space on a slowly drifting moon that has no permanent light source so well all freeze to death"
16:09
"Well, seems like I'm going to fight. Time to activate my battle music."
This cartoon so got me so into space, solar system, stars etc, magnificent!
This was the 1st episode of this show I ever saw. The local channel ran this one 2nd, and the website list I found also had this listed as episode 2.
This one touches on the legends of Medusa (turning people to stone), Pegasus (the flying horse) and Hydra (the many-headed dragon).
I wonder what the people of Zatra did to "offend" the gods of Olympus? That holiday planet didn't just drift out of orbit on its own... and then wind up in the Universe of Olympus!
I don't remember the opening shots of the spaceship, or the final shot of Zeus hanging out in space. I'm guessing they were cut by the cable channel for commercial time. The last shot makes it clear Zeus was responsible for the planet getting pulled into the other universe.
22:30 this part still makes me emotional after all these years!
I'm really enjoying these!
i love how his eyes always seem to be pointing in slightly different directions
Ulysses 31 and Jayce And Wheeled Warriors defenetely deserve a remake, expecialy in size an purpose of theirs crews.
I realize the English dub was done in Montreal, Canada with Canadian actors. But Numinor definitely has a heavy Canadian accent: 7:08
Even I as a German can hear that
Amazing as usual from TheAdamAdamant .....thanks brother
Onto ep 5, fifth , sixth time 😅 ....still cant find ep3 though
I know its somewhere ....
Numanor made a guest appearance in this one, Phewmee was well chuffed!!!
They should stop separating..
I don't know what's worse, the fact that they had to explain why people had to evacuate a drifting planet to a grown woman, or how a clearly dangerous and mentally unstable adult was allowed to work with children in the first place.
she wasn't dangerous to children and having children around turned the planet into paradise.
So what you're saying is you'd hire a mentally unstable woman with destructive powers who only gets along with children.
the aliens obviously thought the benefits outweighed the risks
Considering how this episode played out, these aliens were stupid.
She wasn’t insane. She made the planet to be a place safe for children and their families to stay and visit and it brought her joy and purpose. Then when all the children were gone she thought the worst has happened to them and became hateful to adults.
Beautiful.
never see that coming
I hope they make a reboot of this animated series, with longer episodes and other mythical characters in greek mythology....
Careful what you wish for! Based on the truly dismal talent and craft shown in too many modern remakes, I fear it would be an insult to the source material. I'd love it if it were done right but not holding out hope. I kinda feel that it's best to leave this as is and let it be what it is..amazing!
@@elone3997 I know that if they might make a reboot of this series will not be as great as the original, but still they maybe stick to the original source materials or even ask permissions and rights to the original producers and animators of this series...
I think Telemecus is rather cruel towards cute little Nono at 10:20, "He's so slow and stupid". Rather out of character? But he needs his help by 11:05 though. Brat!
Nono can be a PITA sometimes, Tele is just putting him in his place.
I approve. This is a completely unfitting behavior for Telemaccus. Especially on an unknown, maybe even hostile world.
There were no robot rights back then. Boston dynamics helped a lot in this regard :D :D
Let’s say Telemachus is still a child! 😁
God those people are understanding, " we can never see our children again because of you, you old witch but HEY! we can more kids" Those crazy Zatrians :).
Nah, just LSD fuelled logic. Besides she is the only one that can make that hunk of rock bearable to live on, and they have little chance to reach home. So... erm... yeah she has them by the figurative balls :D.
they know their children are alive though and hey they can always have more.
If the holiday planet is safe now, couldn't they bring their children back from the other Zatrian planet?
Probably not - they're still in the Universe of Olympus, and Zatra is in normal Universe. And gods just don't let anyone to leave Olympus so easy.
Haha! I think it makes more sense when viewed as a mythological story about jumping to conclusions, mistakes and forgiveness
So let me get this straight... Numinor is Yumi's brother?
Yes. It was clearly mentioned in the first episode.
@@benpogi4ever I was being sarcastic. She says it every 6 seconds
U31 did not kill the Cyclops... that little robot did with the mirror
Correct, but it was on Ulysses orders, so he took the brunt of the punishment. I would also think that it is beyond the gods to punish non-mortals, hence why the robot was left unscathed. And either the kids were safe because they were in cryo (which would be supported by Athena) or they generally don't touch kids when they do their punishments.
When you give a machine an order to kill someone. Who's the killer then? The man or the machine?
Wait, No-No made all that fuss about wanting to swim 🏊♂️ and he can’t swim. #sillyrobot
A spaceship so big you need a sled.
How come "their bodies will remain of stone" yet they float as if weightless?
Their put in a comatose state of a coma where their neither living or dead.
Probably some zero-g shenanigans
@Billy B Absolutely, void of life but not exactly dead.
The intro in spanish is better !
It was explained by the Witch and Ulysses that that Zatrian children were evacuated because the "white holidy planet" drifted away. Why didn't Numinor and Yumi just stay withe their fellow Zatrians as they do have the sufficient technology to find their "mother planet"???
creepy witch
