The Philippines is also a Spanish colony and United States. If it wasn't for Spain Filipinos won't be celebrating Cinco de Mayo!

im Mexican and we dont celebrate 5 de Mayo, usa start that and its a little bit awkard to us , but i love to see people in other contries making party about mexico.

Lol.. ya. May in the Philippines is supposed to be Flores de Mayo (the Flowers of May) where the Virgin Mary is honored with flowers. There is no Cinco de Mayo either, this is commercialization.

It's not SELAMAT, it's SALAMAT (from the 1st caption 1:04)! Although we got the word SALAMAT from the Bahasa-Malay language we have our own version.

The Filipinos scattered all over tiny islands like Palau, Micronesia etc... the US who owns those islands are letting the Filipinos migrate to the Chamorros are Filipinos too. Filipinos and Mexicans look at the built, height and accents. Celebrating Cinco de Mayo will make sense if the Philippines has a large Latino population .

Better to celebrate Sept 15-16 it's independence day for not only Mexico but many latin American countries, costa rica, el salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua. Cinco de mayo is more like mexico day/chicano day in the U.S., it excludes other Hispanic countries and clumps them all under "Mexican".
Nonetheless I didn't know it was celebrated in the Philippines

am confused ? latinos or hispanic or Mexicans? latinos are people from Brazil/potugues, hispanics referring to groups. but it is Mexican origin
They are ALL LATINOS in Latin America… Filipinos are not Latinos or Hispanic it is only a nickname… but technically speaking they do have similar genetic makeup. Hope you enjoy the episode & more on the way!

and 5 the mayo was a battle in Puebla againts de french military we won but the next year france came again and won and start the imperialism in the capital, they only left because usa and Prussia threat frnace if they dont retrait from Mexico thye atack and Napoleon lll retreat.
