- Sometimes your shower can seem like the temperature is just not right.
Maybe the shower seems like it gets too hot. In this video, we will adjust the max temperature control knob to make sure your shower is perfect.

The white knob at the front of the grey cartridge has small individual teeth - each tooth marks a two or six degree change in temperature. The Delta 1700 / 1800 series is changed by two degrees F and the Delta 1300 / 1400 is changed by 6 degrees per tooth.
The process of adjusting the max temp of your shower is a great safety mechanism as well as a way to fine tune your ideal temperature range.

Thanks for a great video. I have the Delta 13/14 trim kit. Was wondering if it is ok to install the backing plate before installing the cartridge & bonnet nut etc?

You can try. But I think things will get a little crowded / difficult as you try to complete it. Worse case, you can always take it back off when Indy add sling internals. Thx for watching!
I had a screw thru the main stem part. Are you supposed to remove that to do adjustments? Is that why i can't pull out and turn that piece?

Hmmm. The screw doesn’t sound familiar ( but make sure they aren’t “stops” like in this video - How to Install Shower Valve Stops | Delta Multichoice Valve with Stops

Also / if the valve is old, the valve can be v e r y difficult to get out due to scale build up. - just fyi.

Ours never gets hot enough. Can I get it to go higher? Our tub fills up really hot, but we can't get the shower to go up beyond kind of warm.

Yes. The dial on the cartridge can be rotated ( video ) to increase max temp. They come from factory with a lukewarm setting.
