- Another great gift from my mate who was clearing his farm . A huge amount of copper from this 69 years old motor . Over 15kgs melted in todays video of which 13kgs added to the shelf. And we're back again with the Melting Muppet for another exciting video, well that's what I tell myself anyway🤔. I lot of Copper pours in this video with over 15 kg poured. An awesome Motor donated by my friend, but I tell you what , it was bloody hard going trying to move it that's for sure weighing in around 300 to 350 kg. It was a bit of a pain and unfortunately I could only melt the Copper side of stuff as you will see in the video. I will never be able to forget that cardboard under a crucible stops a firebrick from sticking. That’s just a small part of my brain which is now occupied until my dying days. I don’t even know what a firebrick is, but if ever I need one to not stick to something - I’m golden.

Watching bigstackd weekly is really helping with my (me) metric conversations. Metric is so much easier than, "well is it 1/2 inch or 5/8?" Versus 10mm or 9. Surprised no drop beers when the sun goes down.
I'm planing on getting a furnace like that and I just know that at point, I'll forget the cardboard. And I'll be cussing myself, how many times was I told ....

It's a nice bench and I think a minor level of char can make wood more weather resistant, depending on the species?
I was so absorbed into the pouring ability thinking it was done to avoid burning the new bench that setting the crucible down really took me by surprise

Bloody raining all day and it’s wet and windy so looks like I won’t be doing any melting until tomorrow. I might as well go inside and spend some time with the boys I reckon👊🏻😁.
I like the really large full copper pours best. So full, so rounded in shape and glowing with heat with only the surface tension stopping it from overtopping the mold; very ASMR.
I really really like when you show us the surrounding area on your drives. It looks so nice there..

A tour of the Perth Mint would be fun. Got a fair bit of Aussie coinage from there. Funny how they do a mini monster box of 250oz of silver kangaroos. I need a second one to make it proper but not with the current price of silver.

copper is so special compared to other metals: its bubbling, its way of solidifying, the color of the flame when melting, and the colors once it cools... in short, thank you for sharing this
It's weird. I've an affinity for some metals. Silver and copper and I like each other. I always have a silver ring on, and copper is just a pleasant metal. Iron somehow feels rough and harsh, at least in my head.

@@flar4282 the one we have at work that we just got rewound is 50+ years old and has got to be close to 1 ton as our 2 ton engine crane had a hard time moving it. Definitely gotta keep your feet away from under it when its being moved. The output shaft is about 2.5-3 inches in diameter.

Wonderful copper melt! My favorite. Those bars and coins looked great, plus 2 more tags for your collection. Those are turning out better than i expected. Ingot had a burst of energy then a couple days later relized he depleted his reserves, he'll need at least a week to recover.

I love these videos. So relaxing and just perfected by such a master smelter. I love watching the stack getting bigger. My favorite part is the little quirky parts, example: the phone ringing in the beginning with the cartoon style, the classical music while driving, and all the other things that add up to make these videos.

Oh wow! Thanks again for the huge donation mate. I really appreciate it buddy it will definitely filter down to the dogs in the way of treats that’s for sure. I don’t know if I could handle those kind of temperatures you’re talking about the lowest it’ll get here on this property is -1°C, but it definitely won’t go under that.
It’s currently 16°C and I’m thinking of putting on a jacket or lighting the fire as it’s getting quite cold out here in the shed. It’s 3 pm and wet and windy so I might even just call it a day. Go spend some time with the boys And maybe get a game plan for tomorrow’s melt .
Actually, I might shoot into town to the hardware store. See if they have any cheap outdoor waterproof lights for the melting area as we’re coming into winter and it’s gonna be cold and wet for the next few months.

That fan cover is gorgeous. I'd hang it on the wall in my house. Honestly, some of that copper wire looked so lovely as it was that I'd consider finding a display use for it as well.

I was just thinking of you today actually I was gonna take the dogs into the shed and get a photo in front of the stack, but the little shits wouldn’t sit still as they were so excited to be out there so I’ll just take a photo of them when they’re up at the house and then copy paste them in front of the stack picture. I try to finish videos befor commenting, but to quote Ralph Wiggum - "It tastes like burning!" (I mean, you DID have Simpsons up, so it only makes sense....) In a more scientific answer, it'd taste like the copper wash that blood tastes like... in the nanosecond before your taste buds were seared off permanently. Probably not the least of your problems if you tried drinking molten copper.
On another note, when you zoomed in on the helicopter and commented about spy planes, I thought you were joking. Damn there's a LOT of planes flying overhead!

Yeah I’m pretty sure I’m in some type of flight path as on nice clear days it’s almost as if pilots or training pilots are getting their hours up as they’ll fly straight across the property or pass the property and 10 minutes later they fly back.
Either that or they are spy planes 🤔
