    I’m salivating! Hmong food is very similar to Khmu food. This is the same dish my mom would make for us growing up which we call sun-gong. Thanks for sharing the recipe! I don’t cook asian food too much because I find it intimidating but your videos make it look so easy.

    Where Texas meets Hmong. 😊 I don't even have to make a trip to Asian market because we Texans regularly eat Mustard greens, turnup greens, and collard greens. 😊 The rice and dipping sauce is all that changes this into a Hmong recipe....cool. 😁 We would have this soup with cornbread....just pork and greens boiled with maybe some salt and black pepper....or most commonly greens boiled in chicken broth with some bacon or ham and tbl or so of bacon grease and salt if bacon not salty enough. Also black pepper. 😁

    Boiled pork with greens is the ultimate Hmong dish. I didn't know how much I've craved it until I was serving in the U.S. Marine Corps from 92-96. Still good til' this day. Fresh pork is the best for this dish. Store bought is not fresh, if you know what I mean. Thanks for sharing.

    If I don't have pork bone will it be ok too? I know may not taste the same, but just wondering. Oh and do you leave the ginger in when serving or you take it out?

    • @CHerCreations
      @CHerCreations  Před 2 lety

      Pork bones gives more flavor. But it works with boneless pork as well. Ginger can be eaten but it's usually just used as a flavor enhancer. You can take it out if you want.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you follow the traditional rules, at the end of the video she dipped her spoon with rice into the broth and ate it. I was told you're not suppose to do that cause they only do that when they're offering food to their ancestors. I remember getting yelled at as a kid for doing that.

    • @CHerCreations
      @CHerCreations  Před 5 lety +1

      Da Boss Hmm, maybe your parents were stricter when it came to it. My grandparents never had that issue with us. Maybe only during the time of those celebrations such as 30 and when your offering food for your ancestors during certain occasions, but when it came everyday eating, it wasn’t a problem.

    The only down fault to this meal is that if the pig is not freshly butcher the broth is not as tasty nor the meat. Therefore anyone who gets their pork at the store will not taste as good. Some may even not ever eat it again. Hmong dishes are mainly fresh killed.

    • @ganyrehs
      @ganyrehs Před 2 lety

      Any purchased meat from the supermarket that is USDA inspected should be good enough for this dish. The main ingredients are pork meat with bones to give it the best flavor. The longer you simmer the broth, the tastier as well!
