  • FightHype.com recently caught up with three-time world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley to get his take on Hopkins' win over Winky Wright, his future plans and much more. "If he's a man about it, he'll come and see me" stated Mosley as he made it clear that his first choice for his next opponent is Floyd Mayweather Jr. If that fight can't happen, Mosley names several other potential opponents, including jr. welterweight king Ricky Hatton, IBF welterweight champion Kermit Cintron or WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto, who he's already had discussions with. You don't want to miss what he had to say!

  • @youz1uglybish
    @youz1uglybish Před 17 lety

    a bigger flaw of mosleys that i found out just thru watching him fight through out the years is this..alot of fighters have a switch they no when to box when to brawl and they blend both styles in beautifully..mosleys switch seems to be broken..real shit once he starts brawling thats it..once you get him in that mode he stays in it the whole fight long!

  • @youz1uglybish
    @youz1uglybish Před 17 lety

    yea..good point..the thing is though he seems confident on the inside i beleive he lets ppl on the inside because he feels he can hold is own there as well..wich he is definitley capable of..i definitley woudnt recommend he do that against any one with a concentrated body attack like cotto..but williams has a decent chin and even on the inside i can see him carving up alot of good fighters..out of all the talent at welter weaight p.williams has the brightest future imo

  • @someperson111
    @someperson111 Před 17 lety

    No I said he won't stop until he is goat, which means he will keep fighting and winning until he is recognized as one of the, if not the greatest of all time. It's not his destiny but he does have the opponents and the skill to do so.

  • @someperson111

    That fight would make so much money probably be mainstream and get alot of attention that would help boxing in general.

  • @someperson111
    @someperson111 Před 17 lety

    Hagler had the three things that gave anyone a problem, unbelievable will to win, a chin not made of granite but made of titanium, and bombs in both his fists. Greates middleweight ever IMO.

  • @someperson111

    True that is what to many tall boxers fail to do, box tall. Use their height and reach to control distance. Although floyd doesn't pressure against larger opponents he does control the pace, I don't know how but he always does that. I don't remember ever seeing floyd outboxed so it would be a good matchup.

    Lennox's jab was the best, that's why people said he was boring. He knew the key to winning and ring generalship,for the most part, was he jab he says thay alot when he is announcing fights.

  • @someperson111
    @someperson111 Před 17 lety

    Difference with floyd and jones is that jones relied more on his reflexes than floyd does. Floyd has the best defence in the game and although he does use his relfexes his shoulder will carry him longer down the road than his reflexes.

  • @youz1uglybish
    @youz1uglybish Před 17 lety

    i dont know his ability to fight on the inside is a big part of what makes him unique as a fighter..it makes his fights exciting an fan friendly to watch..i beleive he could make every fight a borefest..jab his opponent to half way to death an run away all fight long but hes a crowd pleaser an the sport needs that desperatley right now!

  • @someperson111
    @someperson111 Před 17 lety

    True but Williams uses an "offense is the best defense" sort of style. He doesn't mind banging it out and his jab is more of a flicker than winky's. He just needs to work more on his entire body movement.

  • @mfeld418
    @mfeld418 Před 17 lety

    Going back to the Mayweather/ Gatti fight, when Ricky Hatton was in the audience watching you could tell he was nervous cause he looked trembly and was gulping down on that bottle of water, but Cotto who is there also was watching and he was focused like to was ready to jump in the ring, so you knew who really wanted to fight and who didn't just compare their expressions, but Hatton just get credit for manning up.

  • @someperson111

    its hard to have alot of pop on your punches without any leverage unless he plans on doing alot of body work on williams..the only glaring weakness i see in p.w to this point is his jab..he flicks it and for some one with that kinda of size advantage it really should be his best punch..that has to be corrected if he wants to be the best!

    yea... thats definitley a problem..if the fight is anything like i envision it to be mayweather could be fighting a beat up mosley..or a beat up cotto i think both will need max amount of time to recover from this fight..floyd shoudnt be 3-4 months down the road imo

  • @someperson111
    @someperson111 Před 17 lety

    It's not that they give him no credit,actually it is. I think hatton is a great fighter, I don't think even a shot castillo would get pounded out the way he did. It's just that floyd has never been seriously forced to pull out his a-game against anyone, hopefully hatton does this and shows his worth.

  • @FrYLocK41

    he would, Mosley has incredible handspeed can match Floyd's speed.

  • @someperson111
    @someperson111 Před 17 lety

    I see Cotto winning by UD.I always say this fight reminds me of DLH vs Whitaker because Oscar at the time was so marketable and would have gotten the decision no matter what, heck even he said it during an interview. Cotto is the same he is becoming very marketable and he will get the decision if it goes 12, I think he will have earned it though because this fight will be brutal, a body shot clinic. Cotto will probably hit the canvas but he will get up and fight on to a win.

  • @someperson111
    @someperson111 Před 17 lety

    Hatton is coming into the fight at 140, he will probably be the same weight as floyd come fight day, since floyd remains around the same weight and hatton will gain weight. That means hatton will keep his speed and power, and will still be outclassed.

  • @youz1uglybish
    @youz1uglybish Před 17 lety

    well mosley status as a great fighter is already written in stone an he still has time to build on that..a win over cotto an mayweather yea i think you can consider mosley as one of the greatest! he lost 4 fights 2 of them to vernon forrest who was on the road to greatness before the injuries de-railed his career!

  • @someperson111
    @someperson111 Před 17 lety

    I have to agree with Cotto by UD. I always say this fight reminds me off DLH vs Whitaker. DLH was on his way in and whitaker was on the decline and as marketabale as Oscar was at the time there was no way he would have lost a decision, heck he even said that himself. It will be brutal, a body shot clinic, and someone (I think cotto) will hit the canvas. However he will get up and fight on and gain the decision win, hopefully he will have deserved it.

  • @youz1uglybish
    @youz1uglybish Před 17 lety

    i agree...but it will be a tough fight both ways..but shane over the years has been so battle tested he has never been stopped in his career...shane imo is a very under rated body puncher in his how right..an it woudnt at all surprise me if chewed cotto up on the inside..only thing that might swing the fight in cottos favor is shanes age...a prime shane mosley would crush cotto no doubt

  • @youz1uglybish
    @youz1uglybish Před 17 lety

    wow..i strongly dis-agree on that..do you know how difficult it would be for a fighter like cotto to get on the inside an stay there consistently against a boxer like p.williams..cotto doesnt have a prayer if williams fights smart an keeps him on the outside..only problem with williams is that once you close the distance he tends to let you camp out on the inside an that negates his huge reach advantage!

  • @someperson111
    @someperson111 Před 17 lety

    People say floyd is suscepitble to the jab because oscar hit him with it. People don't realize oscar is actually left handed but fights orthodox. His left hand is his strong hand which makes his jab not only fast but strong. Not many have a jab as good as his. Floyd didn't even go past second gear in that fight, he took rounds off.

  • @someperson111
    @someperson111 Před 17 lety

    It's not really that hatton has a better chance it is that hatton has earned his chance to face floyd. He beat cas convincingly and had enough leverage to be awarded a fight like this. The media are already building excuses if floyd wins saying hatton wasn't a challenge anyway, it never ends.

  • @youz1uglybish
    @youz1uglybish Před 17 lety

    but regardless of how ppl feel this shoudnt be a popularity contest..if at the end of his career..he earns his stripes the way hes suppose to..steps up an conquers every challenge you dont ever have to like him..but you have to respekt what he has done in his sport..and as far as legacy goes thats all that really matters.. that shit should be all about respekt period!

  • @someperson111
    @someperson111 Před 16 lety

    The fighter with the best chance to beat Floyd Mayweather is someone with a long straight jab that can keep Floyd at a distanc and cause him to re-set. The fighter also has to have the type of reach where Floyd can't counter the jab with his best punch, the straight right hand. Paul Williams in a few years will have all the tools to defeat Mayweather, if he gets a chance to fight him is a whole nother story.
