    Cro-Crop was one of the most successful fighters to transition from boxing to kickboxing to MMA......When he was a great kickboxer, he made the transition very well by having one of the best sprawls. He basically avoided the take down very well and kept the fight standing...Holly Holm seems to be doing even better!

      In MMA you can't punch to the back of the head, can't have your friends jump in, can't use a weapon etc. Neither boxing or MMA even comes close to actual fighting. And that's a GOOD thing. Real fights require zero athleticism. There's no sport in it. Look at the McGregor Mayweather fight. Conor was gassed and couldn't continue when ALL he had to do was use just hands. He stopped throwing back and stopped defending himself. Everyone, the commentators, the fans etc knew that Mayweather was letting Conor tire himself out and Conor didn't even realize it. He had no concept of the science of boxing. What southpaw doesn't concentrate on lead foot placement? Conor didn't. He was using no boxing skill. Mayweather could've just boxed and ended it in four rounds if wanted. THAT'S sports. Just like MMA boxing has a science behind it (thus the name "sweet science"). Boxing and MMA don't resemble real fighting because it takes the sport away.

  • @jillianslowaterbanks7234
    @jillianslowaterbanks7234 Před 10 lety +4

    Floyd Mayweather could make the transition. He has unbelievable athleticism and could fuck up any MMA fighter if given the time and the proper training. Also if it was a boxing match Mayweather could take Liddell and Lesnar on the same night.

    • @jillianslowaterbanks7234
      @jillianslowaterbanks7234 Před 10 lety +1

      Floyd Mayweather would dominate the MMA world he is more athletic and more intelligent then the trash in the UFC. With the right amount of time and training Floyd would be great at the stand up game and the ground game. Don't underestimate the power of Floyd "Money" Mayweather. By the way do you still take it up the ass by Dana and Joe?

    • @dansaenz1825
      @dansaenz1825 Před 10 lety +2

      Clueless...Lebron James is also athletic but guess what? Different type of athlete! Floyd is a boxing great. Awesome skillet overall. No question he's faster with his hands than any UFC fighter, impeccable timing and superior defense but for BOXING. You don't simply jump into another aspect of fighting and dominate when it takes YEARS of dedication to that craft. Same applies to MMA fighters to professional boxing. They'd be thrashed in a pure boxing match. Floyd is a boxing chess player, his style relies on speed and evasiveness. That would be eliminated from the equation fast in the mma. It's people like you who make others hate Floyd. Look.what happened to James Toney and his mouth vs an old man Couture. Now imagine a YOUNG champ...smh Take your fanboyism out of this and think about it logically.

    • @jillianslowaterbanks7234
      @jillianslowaterbanks7234 Před 10 lety +1

      To bring up James Toney is about the dumbest thing you could have done. He is a fat 45 year old punch drunk wash up. Floyd with time and training could demolish any welterweight MMA fighter.

    • @dansaenz1825
      @dansaenz1825 Před 10 lety

      And Randy Couture was what? In his prime? He was retired several times over and washed up and he made his point quick. Floyd would be annihilated in mma son. You don't just take a crash course and jump in expecting the same results. Floyd entering the mma would be as the goat, Michael Jordan entering baseball...oh wait, he did that didn't he? :)

    • @jillianslowaterbanks7234
      @jillianslowaterbanks7234 Před 10 lety +1

      First of all I'm not your son. Second Randy Couture was in much better shape and was not punch drunk like James Toney. He also made it quick by a takedown and submission, he did not even think about standing up with Toney. Floyd is a different breed of athlete MMA would be no challenge for him. I look at it this way who has a better chance at being dominate in each other sport, St-Pierre in boxing or Mayweather in MMA. Does Dana and Joe still put there meat inside of you? Kind Sir you have been roasted, by the way I don't even care much about Floyd, I just know he is a much better athlete then any MMA fighter. The transition would be a piece of cake, but he's in a much more classy and old school sport making the kind of dough anyone in the UFC organization couldn't even dream of making, wether it be a fighter or Dana White himself. Keep sucking MMA's big fat cock. Your either a hipster, a dickhead, a mainstream bitch, or a hillbilly.

  • @godgunsandgoldens
    @godgunsandgoldens Před 9 lety +5

    Stupid, he makes more money than all MMA fighters combined. It's harder to be great in boxing because of its long and competive life of over a hundred years. When a wrestler comes into MMA at an older age and becomes a champion in a few years it's obvious the competition is weak compared to Boxing. Floyd Mayweather has been honing his skills for 30 years against the best competition available. It's going to take decades for MMA to catch up.

      I'm not sure how true this is but Teddy Atlas says it takes two to hold each other. In other words two fighters purposely holding after initial contact are making an unstated agreement to rest. If a fighter really wants to keep fighting he can push off and keep throwing punches. I knew Pacquiao was going to lose when he stepped back after getting Mayweather against ropes fearing a counter-punch.

    Conditioned is a relative term. The conditioning required for an MMA fighter is a lot different than that of a boxer. When it comes to pure cardio, of course a boxer is. However MMA fighters have other things to condition. The ability to take blows all over your body. I guarantee an MMA fighters legs are a lot more conditioned than a boxer's. Also, joint and bone strength conditioning is hugely important due to grappling. Boxer's dont even have to worry about that stuff.

  • @TheGjjfan

    Thats pretty much what was said about James Tony before he fought Randy Couture. That didn't go so well. It would take a while before a fighter who is only trained in one style to become proficient enough in another to be truly successful as a mixed martial artist. All a grappler has to do is not get knocked out before getting hold of the striker. Which isn't that difficult. But at the same time, If the striker can learn to stop takedowns and keep the distance, they might have a chance.

    @ScholarlyGentleman81 Not to mention punches. There are ways to distract strikers into putting up their guards and then using that as a way to close the distance. You don't use everything in MMA? How don't you? You strike with your hands, elbows, legs, knees, you fight on the ground, and can use submissions. Very few martial arts train in biting, gouging, groin shots, and hitting behind the head. There are some arts that train groin shots and hitting behind the head, but on pressure points.

When they fight MMA, the rules are ofcourse geared so people won't die, (no breaking necks, no soccer kicks, no 12 to 6 elbows, no kicking downed men, and ofcourse, let go when he taps out.) a boxer, is out of his eliment because unless he strikes first he'll always be ->

Singular fighting styles may reveal cracks in other styles, but whenever you mix them all into one, you get to see its various uses under ever-changing circumstances. The problem comes when people are so used to being in the spotlight and suddenly get replaced.

If and when it happens, many of boxing's supporters will be looking for their opportunity to pounce if he happens to win. From a career mindset, it will be smarter for him to be matched against a striker rather than a grappler. A grappler will keep him on the mat until he gets submitted or pounded out. Put him against Penn or Anderson Silva and he won't make it out of the first round.

Other than that you can't kick anyone with a knee or a hand down in the face or the same thing with the nut shot could happen. If you are both standing anything else is legal in MMA as far as kicking goes. You can still kick downed opponents, just not in the head after a few shots if it becomes a stalemate the ref restarts the bout.

    floyds defense is godly... with those little pad gloves his straight right hand leads and leaping left hook would do damage. his shoulder roll could still work with kicks and he is thee best counter puncher bar none. i just dont see him kicking and rolling around on the ground and thats a part of mma so yeaa, i think that 0 wouldnt last too long.

    I would say exactly the opposite. Fighting against someone in a ground fight is far less risky if you know what you're doing AND if it is only 1 on 1. What I mean is, nearly everyone can throw a half way decent punch, but you rearly see total beginners coming up with a kimura or a triangle choke. Just doesn't happen.

    Ray Mercer said MMA makes boxing look easy. MMA is infinite, other combat sports are finite. That's why he said they are worlds apart. Many people that you call "okay at a lot of things" are also masters/world champions & Olympians in their previous crafts. It all comes back to what Bruce Lee said
    "The best fighter is not a Boxer, Karate or Judo man. The best fighter is someone who can adapt to any style, to be formless, to adopt an individual's own style and not following the system of styles."

    Top boxers are such good punchers they would undoubtedly win some fights. Tony lost to randy but u cant judge on one fight. Valasquez got owned in 30 seconds by dos santos- it happens. But boxing is like a sparring match compared to MMA a lot of the time

    He's a boxer with the rare skill of being able to prevent takedowns from NCAA wrestlers and BJJ practitioners. 99.9% of boxers just don't need to develop that skill and therefore don't have that skill and would subsequently get choked, armbarred or spend an evening getting their back grated against the octagon fence by some aggressive wrestler.

    @tylerblogger that's true, but there is a thing call defense that not very easy to learn. if you seen maywether fight, tell me how many time has he been knockout? cut? bleed?bruised?or a black eye? you think its easy to learn boxing defense?? im sure any mma fighter could just focus more on striking and become a great boxers

    Many MMA fighters have boxing backgrounds & many statistically do better in boxing than MMA because it's harder to remain undefeated in full body combat.

    As much as I sometimes disagree with Mayweather, I think if he LEARNED MMA he would be great. He would have to contend with, having a smaller purse, and being able to handle a loss. His style would most likely mirror Cung Le. Cung Le CAN grapple but he doesnt like to, and his style revolves around avoiding takedowns, staying on his feet and throwing kicks. Mayweather would be similar. Learn grappling but dont prefer it, check kicks, style revolved around avoiding those things and using hands.

    I enjoy these dabates because I get bored sometimes, but lets be honest, both sports have great athletes and fighters who deserve respect from the fans and eachother. I prefer boxing but I wouldn't discredit an MMA fighter. Likewise I liked MMA before being a big boxing fan but I never in my life took boxers for being unskilled. The sports are different in so many ways, why cant they coexist?

  • @Immortalsyn83

    @hustleboy62 Who said Lesnar had an iron chin, to my knowledge it hasn't really been tested short of the two poundings he took in his last two fights. MMA is the sport of fighting, it is a full body combat sport knockdowns score more than takedowns. Cain punch's as hard as most heavyweight boxers, most MMA fighters (especially the old pride fighters) didn't start fighting in MMA for money or fame. They did it for pride & spirit of competition, something most boxers forgot about like Mayweather.

    i think pacquia would be better in MMA than mayweather... it would be impossible for mayweather to win by decision, eventually he would be taken down. manny is quick and explosive enough to maybe finish early with ko's... if you dont have a ground game then you better be a smart brawler with hands of stone.

    I suppose.. but if you watch Badr Hari (who just went to boxing) or Allistair Overeem, guys that kno how to strike with all 8 striking points, as opposed to just two.. The boxer will always have a punchers chance.. but the striker will have an advantage by being able to set up strikes by kickin their legs/ribs/etc.. but also like u say, boxers could be beaten by grappling.. which is the central base for all MMA, so naturally MMA fighters will take down boxers fairly easily..

  • @SnareBuff
    @SnareBuff Před 14 lety

    @saponumberone And that doesn't degrade boxing. In boxing, you're only punching and moving around (to put it bluntly, I realize it's more than just 'moving around'). You don't have to be flexible for kicks or grappling (you really have to be flexible for rubber guard and gogoplatas), you don't have to squeeze and struggle on the ground, and you don't have to know the things that mixed martial artists know. It's irrelevant really for a boxer to know jiu jitsu, since it can't be used in boxing.
