for some reason I can't research the last upgrade for geothermal...only shows up 3/4 for the geothermal and 36/37 for the energy generation, when i try to research the last one it failed more than 15 times...anyone got this problem?
seriously how you build such large towns with lots of visual aspects, and still reach tech 4 for the factions is above me. It seems I have to cram a city full just to be able to reach the required pop-cap to unlock stuff.
just a quick heads up before you run off and buy it, the lighthouse and other decorative features are DLC that was added to the game 6 months after its release. the lighthouse itself appeared in "The Nordamark Line Package" DLC. in all fairness buying the DLC is a great way of supporting the Dev team for making a mentally stimulating game, its worth getting.
I really enjoy these, nothing like coming home from work, grabbing some food and a cold one, and seeing how this all works out. Consider doing more videos if you can, I recommend them all over and I hope others do as well. You talk clearly, and have good insights into the games you review. Building on your great idea of different monument models/skins, I reckon it would be even better if we could choose the design for each stage? It would be a bit of work for them, but say you have just 2 choices for the base, the middle and the top, there would be 8 possible variants on the monument. Up the choices to 3 per stage, there would be 27 combinations!
i can't comment on using a non steam DO key on a Steam install as i have retail discs for both. DO contains cosmetics for the Tech faction only, its getting close to xmas so you could always get them in the steam sale, im pretty sure they'll be going cheap but tbh they're pretty cheap as is.
No, you can build techies just like Ecos and Tycoons in the basic games. Going underwater gets possible as soon as you reach a certain level with your techies as they make the submarines aviable to you, needed to colonise the shelves.
Landwolf Just use the tree tool in the decor menu, then click and drag. :) Tycoons have Autumn trees and Ecos have the green ones. It's a good idea to leave gaps in your city for that purpose, actually.

Deep Ocean is awesome. It has one flaw though.... ...who thought it'd be a good idea to replace the main menu Earth with Tron Earth. Seeing the Earth in the background made the game feel just more... human.

Do you know if the ecos Shield Generators work well against tsunamis? Becuse its works well aginst against fire, bombs, a nuke and tornados.
