    I am from Canada. We just took 3 Jetson Bolt Pro bikes camping in the Canadian Rockies. We rode them on pavement and on trails. They are a bit tricky and can go out from under you if you hit a rut or loose gravel but overall they performed impressively considering the size and the price.

    I bought this bike for my nephew. We did about a 16 mile trip. He pedals maybe 25% of the time and he still had 3 bars of battery. Of course weighing 60lbs and the flat terrain, I'm sure had a huge effect.

    I live in NE Florida. I've had a big cargo ebike for almost a year now, and love it. I recently came across Jetson Bolt Pro when watching other ebike mod videos. Can't believe this thing is only $340 at Costco (which also has a great return policy so minimal risk). The temptation was too much -- had to get it! So far I love it. You can't really directly compare this bike to bigger ebikes, but even just kinda comparing the two the Jetson Bolt Pro does really well for what it is. I'm also 6'3", but 245lbs and this little booger pushes this big fat guy pretty well here in relatively flat Florida. I took it on its first real ride to run some local errands, and it did really well. I mostly pedal to get it started or to go up slight inclines, but after I'm going I only use the throttle. I went ~10 miles and still had 1/2 the charge left on the battery when I got home, so it would probably do the 17 miles per charge the way I ride it. I'm already putting a taller (450mm) seat post on it as the stock one is a little low for me, replacing the mechanical brake calipers with better hydraulic calipers (not full hydraulic brakes), and I'm going to do the 19mph speed hack. Eventually I'll probably get a higher amp hour battery for it (you can get 36v/10ahr battery that is the same dimensions as the stock 36v/6ahr battery) depending on how much the range suffers from the 19mph speed hack. The fun factor of this tiny ebike is through the roof!

      You may have started something using the Jetson Bolt as a pit bike. I drag race occasionally at Wild Horse Pass dragstrip in Chandler / Phoenix Az (formerly "Firebird Raceway"). I see several during local race events as well as the bigger national events. Watching and reading comments because I am thinking of buying one myself, mainly for local errands, to visit friends most live 1-4 miles away. I am convinced that this reasonable priced e bike will fit my needs and do the job. Maybe my friends will follow suit.
      FYI - I hear that Wild Horse Pass will be closed permanently after the NHRA national event here in February of 2023. Sad to me, as I was there opening day at 16 yrs old in 1983. And been racing there since '84'.

    I live in California. The Jetson was basically my "gateway drug" into the ebike realm. I bought a refurbished Bolt Pro online, and I liked it at first. It topped out at 12 mph, but the range wasn't great. It only got around 6-8 miles per charge. I've since bought 2 more bikes, with a 3rd on the way in a month. A Totguard bike off Amazon that goes 21 mph, and a Freesky fat tire bike also from Amazon that goes 28-30 mph, both go about 20 miles per charge. I just recently bought an Ariel Rider Kepler bike that's about a month away and is supposed to go 32 mph with a much larger 52v 20ah battery (which will hopefully translate to even further range).

    • @leetjohnson
      @leetjohnson  Před 2 lety +4

      That's awesome!! Having a 52v battery with that much Ah is gonna be epic! I think if I have to choose between range and speed, above 30mph is solid, after that, range becomes the bigger issue. I love the new dual battery setups...can't wait for battery tech to keep improving and getting cheaper. Thanks for the comment and watching this video, I really appreciate it!

      Absolutely. Pedaling you'll get an instant response from the accelerator and it saves battery that way.juat keep in mind while pedaling it's sensitive so you don't really have to push it too hard, almost like you're pushing against a cloud, if that makes sense. Just try it you'll get what I mean. Let the engine do the work manageably and you'll enjoy long rides without fail.

      @@edwardcephas3843 thanks for the advice. I saw one of Shiva’s videos saying that the brakes are very sensitive, so to take time getting used to them. It sounds like this is the very responsive/supportive power type of bike I’d hoped for; but also that means I should take some time initially in some quieter areas to become familiar with the way it handles.

    • @edwardcephas3843
      @edwardcephas3843 Před 2 lety +1

      @@HelloYiddy Exactly. Where I live there are hills and flat areas everywhere and because I'm a delivery courier (with this bike) I've had to do a ton of research on ways to maximize the potential of the Bolt Pro, even with the OEM battery thats installed. It's an amazing machine but doesn't look like it if you just stare at it. (It's my kind of ride, unassuming but powerful under the hood) Even when making deliveries my customers are floored when they see me come in with their stuff, and many stated that i got here quicker than they were prepared for. I can take, or create many byways where a car can't and its paid off well for me and my customers.
      I love the bike, but one of the only things that can be a turn off is the throttle, it is installed with a tough adhesive but the inner part of the plastic can be weak in higher temps (i'm in sunny Florida) so its prone to breaking, and while industrial glue can fix that quickly for a time it'll need to be replaced. If you have Jetson's warranty they can send you a replacement throttle under coverage or you can replace the bike with credit back for the cost of the bike. I've used the warranty myself and got a brand new bolt pro this way, they were really helpful given my situation at the time.

    Michigander here, and I usually ride paved and dirt trails in state or local parks, but sometimes ride out of state on a lot of crushed rock trails. Mountain bike trails are fun as well. Depending on how far you pull the throttle you can actually see a 30 mile range even with the full auto and cruise control; there is a point where you can feel the engine doing its thing based on different levels of the throttle, the goal is for it not to vibrate too much because thats an indicator of the amount of power/acceleration the engine is giving, and how much its draining the battery. This bike and motor does not require you to pull the throttle all the way to achieve the max speeds. Riders keep this noted. :)

      I noticed that too! Just curious, what is your weight? I wonder if this is more noticeable for heavy riders vs lighter riders. I assume even less throttle is needed to get a lighter rider to full speed. Just like an electric or gas car, the acceleration is what kills the milage, not necessarily the speed (wind notwithstanding). Thanks for watching and the comment as well, I appreciate it!

      @@leetjohnson I'm between 140-160lbs and absolutely, factors like weight, wind resistance (I wear a wind breaker), and hills will make a difference in your average distance. I try to switch between when and where i use the battery, if I'm expecting a hill I turn it off altogether just to save even more, those little habits start becoming period where you don't have to charge for days. I convinced my next door neighbor who weighs around 200+ to pick up one and those habits helped his distance as well. he generally charges every few days and he's a daily rider like I am.

      Also the crank and chain ring on this bike is really small so you have to pedal gently to not overwork the motor (referring to my last post about that sweet spot/speed for battery) Jetson referred me to a nice 52T/42T chainring that makes pedaling even with dead battery a breeze.:

I must have mentioned that in a previous conversation because he told me today that it was on sale for just one more day and that I should take advantage of the savings while I could. Even after tax, it came to just under $300! Not too shabby for somebody who just wants to get from point A to point B in a little less time than it takes to take the bus or if I don't want to have to worry about the bus schedule. My only apprehension is securing the bike while I'm in the store, at a hair appointment, or whatever.

While I would like to have the biking peddle option, proper planning should keep me from ever needing it and walking the ebike will be just punishment for improper planning. For this video, I was only using the throttle/motor...no pedaling. If I did pedal, I would have easily got an additional mile or two of range, minimum.
