  • Aoshima Lamborghini Huracán Performante in 1/24 scale by The Inner Nerd
Time lapse video of the full build, painting and weathering of the Aoshima Lamborghini Huracán Performante in 1/24 scale model kit as shown by The Inner Nerd
Tamiya Ducati 888 Superbike Racer 1/12 Scale
    • Tamiya Ducati 888 Supe...
The first part of this video shows the use of Photo Etched parts and scratch building techniques on the Aoshima Lamborghini Huracán Performante in 1/24 scale model kit to detail hydraulic pipes and electrical cables professionally and cheaply around both the cockpit and wheel bays. Locitite 406 CA superglue is used in this process combined with CA superglue accelerator/activator to join the two dissimilar materials. Also used are details from Eduard Brassin which are additional parts to the Aoshima Lamborghini Huracán Performante in 1/24 scale model kit box
The second part shows the Aoshima Lamborghini Huracán Performante in 1/24 scale model kit surface preparation techniques such as filling panel gaps and seams with Deluxe Materials Perfect Plastic Putty modelling filler/putty and sanding them smooth to get a seamless join between parts using a range of sand papers from 800, 1200, 2000, and 3000p dpi grit papers. Also Black Basing techniques are included in this section using Mr Hobby "Mr Surfacer 1000, 1200 & 1500 Finishing Surfacer" thinned with Mr Hobby Self Levelling Thinner 400 to prime the surface ready for painting, sprayed through an airbrush using Harder & Steenbeck Evolution Silverline Solo Needle/Nozzle: 0.15mm with Badger 1100 with Anti-Pulsation Tank Working Pressure 22psi (1.51bar).
The third part of the video demonstrates the Aoshima Lamborghini Huracán Performante in 1/24 scale model kit using the BLACK-BASING technique to achieve a pre-weathered look and surface texture replicating that of an aged and worn aircraft. Harder & Steenbeck Evolution Silverline is used with Badger 1100 with Anti-Pulsation Tank Working Pressure 22psi (1.51bar). Also included in this section on the Eduard Grumman Hellcat F6F-5 in 1/48 scale model kit is the Engine Exhaust painting using Alclad 2 Lacquers (Airframe Aluminium, Aluminium, Steel, Jet Exhaust, Copper & Pale Burnt Metal) and Tamiya clear paints to create a burnt metal effect. 3 layers of Mr Color GX100 Superclear III thinned with Mr Hobby Self Levelling Thinner 400 seal the decals in. This can be decanted and sprayed through an airbrush such as the Harder & Steenbeck Evolution Silverline Solo.
Decals for the Aoshima Lamborghini Huracán Performante in 1/24 scale model kit follow painting with the aid of Mr Hobby Mr Mark Setter & Softer products. These products allow the decal to form to the shapes of the Aoshima Lamborghini Huracán Performante in 1/24 scale model kit panel lines and surface which you can see in the video.
Next is the weathering of the Aoshima Lamborghini Huracán Performante in 1/24 scale model kit. This is started using Abteilung 502 & Winsor & Newton oil paints thinned with white spirit to a wash consistency. Then used as a panel line wash the oil is applied across the Aoshima Lamborghini Huracán Performante in 1/24 scale model kit to achieve a dirty, grimey & worn look. Further weathering including Unthinned Abteilung 502 Oil Paints to create streaking and water marks, along with AK Interactive weathering Pigments (Gun Metal, Russian Earth, Europe Earth, Medium Rust and Pigment Fixer, Worn Effects, Dark Streaking Grime Rainmark Effects) concludes weathering.

Hey everyone, hope you're keeping well and safe around the world. I also hope you enjoyed the video. As I said, this is my very first model car build which I thoroughly enjoyed. If you didn't then don't worry - I'll be back to the usual aircraft uploads in the next video! 🇸🇪 I was also having some fun with the video edit at the end too - no apologies for the music choice.... The only thing I will say is I rub off a new one before (the buffing wheel I mean 😂) applying the compound to get most of the fluff off it. Then when applying the polish, barely apply pressure and they should last for a few models before they are shot. Hope this helps and good luck!

Hi ... admired by your work! I'm Italian and some things escape me even with English subtitles. If I understand correctly, you pass the x22 over basecoat because it is not as aggressive as the gx and do you prefer the gx clear to the 2K because it is easier to sand and polish and because it is thinner and more realistic on a scale model? I would like to ask you what ratio you dilute x22 and gx clear and at what pressure you spray. Thank you!

Hello and thank you for watching. I use a 0.15mm needle and nozzle setup on my H&S Evo Silverline and it sprays just right. I use a very low air pressure (8psi) for the Zero paints to reduce the risk of orange peel as well as tip-dry before the paint lands on the model. In terms of layering, I just kept applying in very thin coats until the colour became fully opaque. This is quite hard to determine depending on the colour but once it seems that the colour does not change after applying more, that should be even enough.

Thank you and thanks for watching! It does day down at the bottom left of be screen. It's a Proxxon Micromot 50/e. You'll need the power adapter too if you're getting one since the power lead to the tool is a bathroom style plug 👍

Do you have a secret to Super Clear iii? I'm switching from 2K as it's not as readily available here. Tried SC3 with 3 light coats (10min interval) & 2 heavy coat (4hr interval), can't seem to lay it smooth enough as in your video, 1:4 ratio @ 19 psi through Infinity 0.4mm. Any tips would be awesome! Thanks!

Yes... but it’s a secret so I can’t tell 🤫 Just kidding 😂 so the key is to thin it LOADS with self levelling thinner (from Mr Color again). Straight from the bottle I suggest start with a 50/50 mix and see how you get on. I sprayed this thinned to around the 50/50 mark and laid down 2 mist coats to get it bedded in. 10 mins between cycles. Then after that 3 wet layers waited 45mind between cycles. To get it to sit flat you have to get the thinner to do the work or it will orange peel. My method still gets a little but is easily sanded smooth. I spray H&S Evo Silverline. Working pressure 8/9psi on a 0.15mm nozzle/needle setup. Hope this helps you out!

Constructive critisism: You could've thinned down the exhaust pipe with a drill, and personally I think they look better with a matt black inner coat. Other than this it's very nice, and love the color choice, but damn Aoshima is nowhere near the quality of tamiya :'(

Okay thanks for the tip! I agree this would have made it look better and something I hadn't thought of at the time of building it. For my first car I think I missed some easier and more accurate methods. Thank you and thanks for watching :)

  • @alejandrosilvestre5244

lots of errors, good try, I assume for your first car

    • @TheInnerNerd
      @TheInnerNerd  Před 4 lety +1

It’s my first yes. So what are the errors in your opinion and what can I do to improve them? I can’t improve on what I do if I don’t know what is an error, right?
