Here are 7 Pumpkin Carving Mistakes and how to correct them.First - not washing the outside of the pumpkin with a solution of vinegar and water. This will kill any mold that is beginning to grow on the outside which will help your pumpkin last longer. Second - this one is all over the internet but in case you missed it, instead of using spoons and your hands to get the guts out, try using a handheld mixer, it cuts the time in half! Third - not cutting a hole big enough in the top of your pumpkin for the mixer to fit inside. Grab a bowl, that you know your mixer fits in and use it to trace your cut. Which brings me to number 4, not using a dry erase marker to draft your design. Dry erase is much more forgiving with mistakes than sharpies and pens. With a little cloth and water, you can erase any lines you don’t want. Number 5 - not making a V shaped notch in the lid of your pumpkin so you know exactly how the top fits without having to spin it a bunch of times. Six - not using olive oil around your cuts to prevent drying out. And finally number seven - instead of using a candle, which makes your pumpkin go bad quicker, try using an LED light. For the scooping part, I personally don’t agree, because for me that’s part of the pumpkin carving experience, and I feel like makeing it a hack takes away some of the fun

I don't agree with the time-saving ones, because it's more about the experience. I'm in high school, and have so many Halloween traditions with my family left. I want to savor every second. :)
my boyfriend and i have been graduated out of high school for 2 years, we love carving pumpkins and have been since we were little. even my mom loves carving. you're never too old to carve pumpkins :)

Great advice for when you wanna keep your nice design looking good, but I love going for spooky faces, that age well as in the rot makes them look cooler, I just put some clingfilm underneath for easy removal 😆

i hate people who use mixers to take the gunk out in a pumpkin, in my opinion the whole point of carving a pumpkin is to have fun and make a mess, struggle, and feel the gunk😭

Try drafting a design on paper instead of using markers on the pumpkin, and to transfer it tape the paper to the pumpkin and poke holes along the design, the holes will make it easier to cut into the pumpkin.
8 cut the hole at the bottom instead of the top it makes it look better. If you have trouble doing this put the pumpkin in a bowl to keep it steady

My friend doesn't celebrate Halloween-
This just shows how much america has commercialised Halloween aka what it used to be called in ireland where it originated from called samhin
Also, DO use spoons if you cook the seeds, a hand helf blender could break the seens. And 100% keep to spoons if you have kids, a blender would completely ruin the fun.
Here’s a hack- have fun instead? Just do it however you want and just enjoy it rather than trying to make it quicker or prettier 🤷♀️
Some people wanna have fun carving pumpkins with the kids and some people don’t have millions of dollars to spend on random stuff
I don’t think it costs that much to get reusable lights and make them look nicer, these are just suggestions for a decoration, some kids don’t like getting messy and would prefer an easier set up

I think there’s no mistakes to something like carving a pumpkin or anything, some people don’t have an electric mixer or they prefer to do it by hand and using a dry erase marker is hard to work around while holding it comfortably
I like to cut into the bottom of my pumpkin! If you put a candle or light in it , it can just go right over too

nice but i prob wouldn’t cut my pumpkin lid that big even if it’s for a mixer to fit, my sister cut the top of her pumpkin two times smaller than that and the mixer fit

One thing, the whole point of using either hand, are you a spoon to get out all the gunk inside of a pumpkin is the whole fun of it using a mixer defeats the point of making a pumpkin

One thing is that her tips are good, they will make the fun experience more bland. One of the best parts is getting ur hands dirty, but the rest are good, especially the notch on the lid
@@zosbourne10 no i hate the dirty part. some people like mess, others don't. but tbh the rest of Halloween is amazing, even the messy part if digging in the dirt to bury a fake skeleton that i spent hours covering in fake blood.

If you dont use a mixer, you dont need to worry about the hole.

Cleaning out the inside of a pumpkin is no fun for me. Vaseline on the cut edges is good, also putting plastic wrap over the cut design and loosely cover the hole with plastic wrap and put the top on it. Then place the JOL in the refrigerator until you’re going to use it again extends the life, especially where October can still be hot (like in Florida).
Yeah but carving the pumpkins and doing it with your hands is just the fun of it and that’s what makes it fun personally I don’t think that would be as fun

Sharpies work really well! I just used one this year and I made a LOT of mistakes, but I just used an alcohol wipe and it came right off (If my memory serves me right, water and a paper towel/rag also work)

These are more decorations that will last longer and look better than normal pumpkins, they aren’t forcing anything on you it’s just tips
This method is just as fun, and besides I hate the icky part.. Pumpkins actually make me throw up tbh
Should add 1 more to it. Don’t cut the top of the pumpkin, cut from the bottom because it helps prevent the sides from caving in later.

You can also rub Vaseline on the places you carved it to keep it from rotting

Another tip is to cut it on the bottom so it looks nice and you don’t have to see that big open cut line

We use and led tea light candle and I always made the mistake of carving it straight not at an angle 😂
Well, some people like doing it to diy. They like carving the pumpkin and getting in there and making wiggly lines to personalize your pumpkin. Not saying these are bad, just everyone does pumpkins didlfferent.
Did u know u can use sharpies then use nail polish remover to get it off and just don’t buy a moldy pumpkin🤯
What if you don't have a hand held mixer
Three words I don’t care just because all the stuff help The pumpkin I’m gonna do it my own way
If you do use a normal sharpie, hairspray removes the marks too!
Another hack: rub vaseline on where you cut the pumpkin so it will last longer.
