- A demonstration of the first Landmaster level made for Star Fox Event Horizon, as well as both methods of taking out its boss. The level is entirely functional courtesy of scripting work by Baezon, but do keep in mind this is still extremely experimental and pushing the engine to do many things it was never designed to do. It's rough around the edges (keep your eyes out for a pair of tanks that zoom into a wall and explode!) and will probably take a lot more time to polish.

i like how the cornerian army fight with you. makes it feel like its really a war and not a one man kill fest
Great Fox's strafing run, the armada warping in, the Cornerian tanks acting as backup, Slippy and Peppy both in a tank, Falco and Bill providing air cover, it feels like you're in the middle of a war. THIS is how Star Fox should have been made. Thank you for bringing the hopes and dreams of the fandom to reality. You, and your entire team. Thank you.

Has there ever been a time before where there was more than one Landmaster? There’s always been just _’the_ Landmaster’, right?

Take this with a grain a salt as there's several conflicting articles about it, but the official sources say that there's only one prototype of the landmaster tank in Starfox's arsenal during the events of 64. However that being said given this is a complete revamping of the series we can assume that the team has access to more than one landmaster tank. And given that Event Horizon has access to better technology than the 64 version had, which means more vehicles on screen, we can assume the team has access to more vehicles. But again, take it with a grain of salt.
Though I will note SF Assault did spawn in more landmaster tanks during the course of the Katina Fichina and Sauria missions if the tank was destroyed, so at least by that time the team did have a few in reserve.
i'm honestly surprised you managed to get the Landmaster sections to work.. not only that it feels like you are ACTUALLY hurrying and trying to destroy the bridge to quickly eliminate the train, and if you don't succeed the next phase goes on. I like that :) also Macbeth looks stunning btw :0

Land section in a Freespace 2 mod? impressive, really impressive.
If you can get pre-mission cutscenes to work, perhaps you could show and airborne squadron getting shredded by AA battery, which would lead to the Landmaster(s)and Cornerian Tanks being deployed. Just to show to the player *why* the tanks.
Btw, the music fits soo well and implies the immense task ahead: to cut off Venom's supply of weaponry and put a dent in Andross' plans for domination. The music in past videos never ceases to amaze me. 😉 Makes things way more cinematic, while retaining that Star Fox feel.
And as I said in the previous Landmaster video, the Landmaster *really* needs some means to mitigate damage. This isn't as much a problem in space Since you can move in every direction, but since you’re confined to two dimensions, It’s much harder to avoid damage as the Landmaster. Perhaps implementing the side-boosters or the Roll might help the tank be a bit more evasive? If that’s even possible?
This is so well done! can't wait for you to tackle the ruined paridise of Zoness.
I'll probably do the Zoness level next, since a lot of the tank script could be used for boat enemies too.

Man, am I soo hyped for this! Its been hard as a Star Fox fan these past few years, but this gives me hope. Macbeth was such a fun stage in SF64 when you were tasked to derail a weaponized train in order to cripple Venom's war efforts. Love where this mod is going! Keep up the good work!

Lol. Anyway, I love this level, but my only gripe is how exactly does destroying the support structures and derailing the train destroy the whole base?
If I may offer one critique, destroying the bridge and derailing the train doesn't quite have the same energy as switching the track and having the train barrel right into the supply depot, thus taking the whole thing out. If anything, it looks like having them get to the bridge is what gets them close enough to the depot that taking them out takes out the depot as well.
More of the Landmaster work, along with the recent new one, this one is also well made, also i like how you put that funny moment, where you make the Enemy Crash and destroy the entire base at once. Classic, continue doing a wonderful job.

Macbeth was always my favorite level in SF64. I'm surprised you managed to make an all-range mode version of it, but this actually looks really well-done and fun to play---not to mention pretty faithful to the spirit of the original! I mean, using guns to collapse a bridge makes a little more sense than using guns to throw switches!
You keep impressing me. I really admire your dedication on this it looks great.
Must have been a pain to make this work, I suppose the entire gameplay system is not made at all for this.

...Funny how "Mechwarrior Online" is listed for StarFox Event Horizons.
I mean, Battletech does use trains, Prototype super weapons, Vtols, spacefighters and Tanks as well as mechs... Frankly, Starfox is mainly missing the pilotable mechs.

One thing that always bothered me about the newer "Star Fox" Games is that it was never satisfying shooting an enemy. "Star Fox 64" managed to do that by using a very satisfying sound when hitting an enemy. And you used that exact Sound here. Thank you for doing that.
Also really cool to use the Explosion Sound from "SF64" at the end too. Sound is an important part.
The only thing i don´t like are the Com Portraits. I know you can´t do that, but it would be so nice to see the old "SF64" Portraits with just the mouth moving.

You are doing stuff with the Freespace engine that I hadn't dreamt possible. Seriously impressive stuff. Have you considered hosting the game on Knossos, the FSOpen community platform? I'm sure they'd welcome it with open arms and it'd let you roll out incremental updates, test builds, easier.
Neph participates in the HLP discord server and forums, where Knossos was made. I'm sure he'll upload the game to Knossos when he feels it's ready.

i always felt kinda bad for the train conductor, hes not out to hurt you like the other bosses in this game. He just has a job to do and needs to get to the supply depot to drop off his cargo. He has this attitude like "please just leave me alone and let me drop this off so I can go home". Hes just a train conductor having a particularly bad day at work, and you end up killing him just cuz he has cargo related to the war. Poor guy.
Of all the levels, this is the one that makes me most hopeful there will be a co-op option for the game.
Holy shit I thought this game was cancelled because of Nintendo. Is this still being worked on? :D I already absolutely loved what I was seeing in other dev videos of this game, and this is seriously impressive in its own right.
It would have been nice if you've added the hovering ability on the Landmaster.
I definitely like this remake of the MacBeth level. There’s now more context to the mission thanks to the mission objectives like requiring players to destroy the train’s AA guns, for example. If there’s anything I think could be improved about this level, I would like to see more ground enemy varieties like Venomian Imperial equivalents to AT-ATs, AT-STs, and HAVw A6 Juggernauts to make Star Fox’s mission much harder.
I also back the idea of having a pre-mission cutscene to explain why it’s so important to destroy the supply train and to why Star Fox and others couldn’t use their Arwings to do the job (AA guns).
I think I'll have a lot more ground based vehicles, I do have the Garuda's but decided not to put them in this level. All the missions do have a mission briefing screen beforehand that explains the situation, the text is probably too small for youtube though so I've not bothered recording them.

Do landmasters not have a rotating turret or is that just a game design for easier handling?
It doesn't. Canonically, first Landmaster is an ATV with blaster cannon taped on top of it.

There will probably be so many turrets at the far end of the level that they'd wipe out the player. The Great Fox drops a bunch of bombs when the air raid starts that clears out a bunch of them.
