  • It was 12 years ago this week, when the Duke Blue Devils came from 10 down to beat the Maryland Terrapins. This moment will be forever known as the Miracle Minute. We sit down with Jay Williams and Coach K as they reflect back on this amazing come from behind win.

    The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is a collegiate athletic league in the United States. Founded in 1953 in Greensboro, North Carolina, the ACC sanctions competition in twenty-five sports in Division I of the NCAA for its twelve member universities: Boston College Eagles, Clemson Tigers, Duke Blue Devils, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Maryland Terrapins, Miami Hurricanes, North Carolina Tar Heels, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Virginia Cavaliers, Virginia Tech Hokies, and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. In 2011, the conference announced it was adding Syracuse and Pittsburgh to expand to fourteen members beginning in the 2013 academic year. I never forget watching that game. That year and the year before were the best Duke vs Maryland games ever.

    Remember watching in disbelief when Duke started its fight-back. And I remember wildly cheering them on with each brilliant play. Totally unbelievable. So fortunate to be a witness to it.

    Ha! I love this.
    Let me tell you, Jason Williams is the best college basketball that I have ever seen. Man, I wish I could get every game tape from the Blue Devils. He was a wizard on the court.

      He was the only player my mom could recognize with her glasses off because he just slipped past everyone. He was going to be blurry with the glasses on or off I guess.

    I remember watching this game with some friends at home. I did not go to work the next day. That game...ugh. Damnit.
    By the way, those rosters were loaded with NBA talent.
    Maryland: Juan Dixon, Steve Blake, Chris Wilcox, Lonny Baxter.
    Duke: Jay Williams, Carlos Boozer, Chris Duhon, Mike Dunleavy Jr, Dahntay Jones, Shane Battier.
    This season and next, two teams dominated college basketball: Duke and Maryland.
    Both were in the Final Four in 2000-2001 and 2001-2002. Duke won the title in 2001. Maryland won the title in 2002.
    The coaching staffs were stacked also;
    Duke had Jonny Dawkins, Chris Collins, and Steve Wojciechowski.
    Dawkins left for Stanford then coached UCF. Chris Collins coaches Northwester. Wojo is at Marquette.
    Maryland had Billy Hahn, Dave Dickerson, and Jimmy Patsos.
    Hahn left for LaSalle. Dickerson left MD for Tulane. Patsos left MD for Loyola (MD), then Siena.

    I was 14 and my best friend at the time was a huge Duke fan and I was a Tarheel fan....in 2002 we went to watch Duke practice at the Bilo center in Greenville SC and it was a moment I will never ever forget....the NC vs Duke rivalry will always be special to me to many stories and players to mention but if you know you know.....Duke was great and as much as I hated watching Reddick, Williams, Boozer , ect ect ball I respect their game....I always feared when NC had to play in Camron , but there will never be anything like it again 2001-2006 were my favorite years of NCAA basketball #GoTarHeels

And now, tonight You had Louisville vs #1 Virginia...Virginia down 4 with POINT NINE left. And Louisville turns the ball over twice and Virginia hits a last second bank 3 at the buzzer...PUHAHAHA! CRAZY! It's March, baby!
