    Wow, That's definitely a killer kit. Guess I will be putting one on the stack..
    Lol, if I pull ALL parts off the tree at the same time I'd be crawling around the floor hunting what I knocked off the desk.. I'm getting way too old.🤣 BTW sux about the brown I really loved it but that red is looking great..

  • @animalyze7120
    @animalyze7120 Před 2 lety +2

    Nice build up! The engine should be Chevy Orange with a small touch of Red in it. There was no color code for this back in the 60's it was kinda mixed on the fly and eventually the slight redness would fade away regardless. Interesting note the 64 Novas had a special chrome dealie with the 230ci 6cylinder models, so if you had 1 of those laying around from an older kit you could make this a REALLY stock version ;) I like that End result with the Red brown very unique without looking totally out of place, it looks like it could have been a real stock paint offering back then (Looks like the Ember Red but brighter than the Palomar Red). Great video as always!
    P.S To all the nitwits complaining about painting the engine with the exhaust manifolds in place, they came that way from the Factory!!!!! Look at original pics from vintage cars and you WILL see the over spray from the engine paint on the exhaust manifolds!!! Sorry Matt had to help ya out there with these "Armchair think I know sumthin" hobbyists lol

    • @Eero_V
      @Eero_V Před 2 lety +1

      That is true, there was overspray on the manifolds, but that would burn away when the engine was started leaving the cast iron exposed. And I think the six-banger was a 194, not a 230 🙂

    I've used that MCW Medium Brown Metallic on a Revell 68 Dodge Charger kit. It is a very nice color, but it wasn't as Brown as I hoped. It had more of a copper-bronze look to it, but it turned out great.

    Not really sure what you were talking about that damaged the first paint color, but things happen.
    This kit looks really good, although I am disappointed the box shows white-wall tires but there are none in the kit.
    MCW paint website is showing they have supply issues with paint cans, last time I checked there a few days ago, so looks like everyone will need to plan around that for a while.

    Well done sir!! looks great!!! Chevy "Engine Orange" is the color, the 283 was new for 64 in the Chevy II/Nova in 2 or 4 barrel, and was mated to a 3 or 4 speed manual or Power Glide. Well done once again and the camera work was good......

    Hey...don't apologize for ur videos...there're great! I'm currently building this kit and u r correct....it is a great kit. I was going to build it box stock.....until I found the traction bars, intake/carb, exhaust, etc....so now the model is being built as a loose replica of a 1 to 1 that was built & ran around my hometown back in the mid-70's. I'm painting mine a deep red w/ a tan interior and for tires/wheels, I'm using the rally sport wheel/tire combo from the '69 Nova kit. Other than the red body paint color {the real one was a teal color}, it will be very close to the real one!

    No worries with the camera brother it's all good and if the very tiny shaking every so often is the reason for someone to unsubscribe then your better off without those subscribers because they are never going to be happy with anything. It makes me absolutely mental that people love to tell you how wrong you are doing things but yet fail to realize how helpful, entertaining, and successful your videos are.

    What a nice kit, a must have! As a tip, if you did not put the interior together yet, the armrest bases are chrome, with a soft vinyl pad on top of it, so paint them silver or use some BMF for some more realism

    not sure how far along you are with the kit but be aware of cutting off the door handles from the tree,they break real easy.What I did was take my exacto knife and heat the blade over a candle and cut the handles off as close as you can get with out having to trim any access plastic after they are removed,that is how I broke mine when trying to remove the access plastic after I cut them off the tree.Now I'm going to have to glue them in the door as halves and hope where they broke in half doesn't show.The door handles are very brittle and the less you have to handle them the better.Model on and thanks for the channel always nice to see what other modellers are doing

    Your description of the painting process- especially the brown to red transition - had me laughing like a fool!
    Thanks for doing this kit. I've had my eye on it since it came out, first the gasser, now this one. Is there another Moebius Chevy II/Nova out there, somewhere? Those extra parts suggest that there might be - a convertible, maybe, or a wagon. The underhood components intrigue me because they suggest a 327 cu in engine, like the one in the 1965-1967 Corvette. As you know, the 327 was the 283's weight-lifting big brother.😉 Thanks again for this review and build.👍

    Looks like a great kit Your special paint color looks pretty close to GM code wa3071 Palomar Red. But I’m sure the factory gloss shine was no where near as nice that MCM paint. Going to order some of that. Tried a while back but he was out of Hardner and primer/surfacer so I didn’t complete my order. I’ve got a 1/8 scale 1967 Corvette Coupe 427 model that I want to use model nuts paint on because of your results.
    The motors where more of a orange color but as some one else commented depending on the assembly plant you could get a shade difference. The Tonawanda plant here in western Ny used the orange but an old friend of mine told me my 327s in a couple 60’s (three Chevelles and a 69 nova ) where painted wrong or rebuilt motors. He as from California soooooo……. They must have had a red tint to theirs.
    Anyway nice job and your videos are great.

    Matt, those extra parts for the MOE- bee- us Nova, you mentioned a bunch of engine and exhaust parts as well as a set of drag traction bars, these spare parts, the extr carb, intake and heads, chrome valve covers, etc . are probably gonna be a A/S " little eliminator" version such as AMTs version of the '66 Nova SS Grumpys Toy released afew years ago by Round 2, all MOE- bee- us needs to do is add a set of headers, a pair of NHRA legal slicks, maybe some. Wheels, etc. And a set of drag car specific decals and POW! another low cost ( to manufacture) version. Think about it, I already have the stock version you're building, I have the gasser version you built on an earlier video and I will for sure buy a super stock/ stock eliminator version as well. I've already bought 5 different Hudson Hornets, 4 1965 Plymouth Satellite versions,, three different Comets, get me? Note to Mobieus, keep the drag car versions coming !!
