The color and appearance aren't realistic enough. If i recall correctly, last year i used corn syrup, red/blue colorings (i think i used a kind that was safe on clothes), and chocolate syrup. Maybe a little water to dilute it slightly. That gave me much more realistic blood that still didn't stain clothes

That’s what we used in forensics, corn syrup and I think corn starch w food coloring. It dries sticky and raised up it’s pretty cool.
