So far my SPL120 and RP-1200SW are working fine. I can really notice the extra power of the RP-1200. When I watched Interstellar for the first time a few weeks ago I thought the thing was going to blow up! The woofer excursion was unlike anything I've experienced before.
It's and I hate to say this but there are alot of reports are coming in about these sub going south sorry to say please buy a better sub that doesn't have a cheap plate amplifier😮
@@TheNLHAZE I'm not just going to get rid of a sub I only bought a couple months ago and get a new one just because it MIGHT have a bad plate amp. I replaced a cheap working 10" Polk sub I've had for years (part of a 5.1 package) with the SPL-120 and then added the RP1200SW. Neither of my other Klipsch speakers (mains and heights) have gone bad either. I don't run my system that loud - always less than reference - and I have plenty of bass to spare in my 13x16 bedroom. Besides I'd rather spend any extra cash on other things.
When I did have a plate amp on the downfiring 10" sub I called klipsch & they sent a replacement one right away & it wasn't even under warranty. No joking. I like doing such like that anyway so didn't mind putting it on myself. But the original one lasted for quite a while & the replacement is still booming along, gave it to my daughter for her 2 channel system.

I've heard about this a lot. I'm still using both my R-112SW purchased in 2016. Used daily so I've got my moneys worth. But I expect at least 1 of them to tear up anytime now.
One of my RP-1600sw subs blew after about 6 hours of actual play time (2 months from purchase date) to my horror it was the woofer itself that had blown, the gain was set to max 7 on the subwoofer and -6db of the receiver for the hottest of listening but more commonly was set to 6 gain on sub and -7db on receiver, max -10db master volume on my receiver for hot listening and 80hz frequency..For certain genres of music the subs can go very low and move a lot I also noticed the heat sink can get very hot.. it was replaced from the dealer I purchased it from but since that I really pet them as my confidence levels has dropped significantly from all the klipsch ads of how improved, durable and invincible these subs are .. note: in my opinion I believe the amplifier is having a hard time moving the subs can possibly be a bit underpowered especially before these subs are broken out properly this can possibly be the reason for the amplifier heating up to this extent.. I guess I’ll never actually hear the advertised bass these subs are capable of producing definitely not going to risk it..
