There should have never been any live amunition anywhere on that set.
Exactly- and that was her responsibility. I still can’t believe someone lost their life on a movie set in the 21st century because of such incredible irresponsibility.
Duh?
Absolutely correct. Why was this even a possibility on a set these days?
@@kathleenardrey5094 because a lot of the set was out shooting real guns for funs
I've been so mad about this and glad shes guilty. what a irresponsible person who was doing drug and bringing live ammos on set and killed hard working innocent crew!! Just because he daddy has been doing armer for couple of decades she got this gig and ended someone's precious one time life !!!! she should be in jail for life.
A year and a half in prison and a five thousand dollar fine seems like a small price to pay considering she was responsible for the death of someone, even if it was only through reckless endangerment
She was partly responsible. Let's wait and see if Baldwin gets convicted as well.
@@Alsayid He has money so he'll probably buy off the jury or judge. Anyways, it was his production company and what actually happened? Did he point and fire or did it ricochet off something?
@joejoewilson5130 just from what I remember, I believe the person who died was sitting behind a machine that films special shots, Alec was supposed to get a "cool" shot by firing directly at the camera. So he directly shot her through this machine, and I believe a ricochet hit another man working right next to her.
I didnt see much of the trial though, so anyone feel free to correct me.
she'll probably serve that in the county jail
You are a phucking idiot. You need to put in jail.
why was there even live ammo on the set. that's what gets me.
There are rumors that the crew were shooting the guns for fun after filming would wrap up for the day, and also there was talk of the union reps showing up to the set while the crew being used were strike breakers. These are rumors, though.
She had argued with him about on set gun safety just a few hours before the shooting. She set him up trying to prove a point and someone died.
It's a terrible breakdown in safe practices. Tragedies like this simply cannot happen unless several safeguards are disabled which come together in a perfect storm.
There should have been no live ammo anywhere on or around the set. There should have been nobody handling these guns at any time who didn't have a proper reason to do so directly related to the production.
They should never have left locked storage at any time but for use in a scene and any necessary maintenance. Prior to use in any scene, the weapon should have been checked at several points beginning with the armorer and ending with the actor using it. Anyone downrange of the gun, including the woman who died, should have been wearing armor.
@kenofken9458 she loaded the gun and declared it safe. It was handed to AB and told it had been made safe. AB as an actor on set is not qualified, trained or insured to make determinations about the firearms. That is why they have redundancies in place. She had argued with him earlier in tye day. She loaded it with live rounds and told them it was safe. That's why she was convicted.

special treatment is an understatement with this case.
Hollywood film folks gets special treatment....?
I know they say you're not supposed to assume things, but if I'm on a MOVE SET, and someone hands me a gun on a MOVIE SET, I should be able to assume this thing does not have real bullets in it.
How ANY live ammunition is on a film set beggars belief. Hope All who were involved are charged. Not just the weakest
The weakest? She was the ARMORER for the entire movie. She is the single-most responsible person for having live ammo on set.
It’s not a question of weak vs strong, but a question of who is most culpable.

@@BlueJazzBoyNZ What do you mean by “weakest”? She is an adult and a professional. She is responsible for her own negligence.
As far as whether other people should also be held accountable…you are probably right about that, including the man who pulled the trigger and was ultimately responsible for the weapon.

She sure wasn't pretty on the set and I do think she was very qualified, she just didn't give a crap
I used to work on film sets in the US and Ireland. The Armourer/Weapons Master was always fully responsible for firearms. Period.
I know a lot of gun and military people are saying Baldwin should have checked the weapon. I don't doubt that it's standard practice amongst gun owners...
But we never do. That's the Armorer's job. As Actor's we aren't trusted with weapons! The Armorer gives you a talk on weapon safety. He/she then explains the shot (scene) along with the Director. And only hands you the weapon just before the take. The Armorer watches you like a hawk during the take. And takes the weapon back into charge once the shot is finished.
The same when being squibbed (electric charges with fake blood pouches) when your character is shot. The special effects people were in charge of that and briefed us in detail before the shot. Everyone on the set has a specific role. At least that's how it should be!
I have to say even on low budget productions the Armorer's always knew their stuff. And weren't laid back Kids! I never saw one under thirty. Most were middle aged. They made you very aware that firearms weren't like regular props.
It looks like they hired this daughter of an Armorer on the cheap. I'm hoping her Dad is/was more professional. She doesn't even seem sure who had guns at a given time. Anyway I'm speculating.
But as much as people want to blame Baldwin (some because they don't like the Guy) he did nothing wrong on the day. I know if I opened the gun to check it I would expect to be reprimanded by the Armorer and/or Director. It just isn't our job.
They might be able to use the Producer angle to hold Baldwin responsible in some way. I don't know I'm not a Lawyer. But that depends if he was really involved in producing. Sometimes Stars get a Producer credit. But it's just an honorary title.
I kind feel a little sorry for the Armorer she doesn't come across as someone who should have been given so much responsibility. Running errands would have been a better start for her.
I agree that it was 100 percent the armourers responsibility to make sure the guns were not loaded with love rounds as well as any other issues with Gun safety. Baldwin was the producer but he hired an armorer for his set, my gosh the least she could do is make sure a gun given to an actor doesn't have real bullets in it. Now if Alwc hasn't even hired an armorer it would bear more responsibility for Alex but he did. And I'm sure he expected them to actually do their job correctly for the safety of all on set. This was such a tragic situation and could've been COMPLETELY avoided if only she had done her job correctly.
Actually, George Clooney has said that he always checks the guns before every shot just to be sure and that Baldwin should've done the same. I can see both sides and obviously when you get mega star status like Clooney you're given much more leeway. I've never acted in a Movie production before so I wouldn't know from personal experience.
There are multiple sources that indicate the armorer is not solely responsible for gun safety on the set, including Baldwin’s own union procedures. Hannah bears much, but this was a multiparty fiasco.
That's the thing tho, while partial blame lays on her shoulders, it is obvious that the tragedy occurred due to the larger systemic issue. This armorer has no experience, clearly does not understand or has ever operated on large sets. The fact they hired her for a westerner out of all things, where she has to oversee massive orchestration of weaponry amongst multiple actors every single day is crazy. I don't doubt they did it to save money. Just like they did with every other thing on this set, prioritizing money over basic safety protocols. No wonder all union crew members left this mess.
Regarding Baldwin, there is a video where he hurries her in one of the scenes to do another shot without doing a proper check-up. The fact the armorer pulled ammo out of a purse belt is insane. But what's also insane is the way Baldwin behaved in that video. He is a decades-old professional who seems to lack any care for gun safety despite his experience. And you can see that everyone around him didn't say anything, it seems he was this dominant figure that no one could say "no" to. Technically, it was the armorer's job to say "No" and maintain protocol of checking the gun. But because of Hannah's lack of experience and because of her very young age, I can't imagine her opposing this Big Figure in front of her even if she wanted to. Such a young person should never have been on that set. I truly empathize with the blame she carries for this horrendous case
@@insenkiv4619 I saw that clip. Grade A A-hole.
But she took the job and is to blame. Having said that the 1st AD or Director should have taken on Baldwin when she didn't.
But the responsibility is hers. She was 'supposed' to be in charge of firearms and firearm safety.
How could she have been found not guilty for the charge of tampering with evidence? She clearly thought the bag content was cocaine. Also, there were accounts she showed up for work hung over! There should be mandatory drug testing for anyone responsible for handling firearms!
She never seems take any responsibility she mostly looked annoyed by the facts that she was negligent.

I love how many in the comments are saying they feel bad for Hannah when she was the one in charge of the weapons on set, unprofessional enough allowed LIVE ammo on the set and get it mixed up with the dummy rounds. The environment doesn't matter because one of the most important duty's an armorer has to do to worry about the safety of the cast and crew around their weapons. She clearly failed that. The fact she was found to have cocaine in her system at the time also shows she didn't take that responsibility seriously. That manslaughter conviction rightfully should stand for all that alone
I feel bad for her because there is no proof that she loaded the gun with the live rounds. It's just assumed because for any other possibility to be true means that someone acted nefarious. Which is exactly what I believe happened. I have seen all the evidence of this trail. While I leave open the door for Occam's razor of Hanna's negligence. I still find the evidence already known about Alec's motive to be far more convincing.
@@adamappell1212 Are you implying that Alec deliberately loaded live rounds in the middle of a crowded room while no one was paying attention? That seems very unlikely.

Firearm safety does not stop and start with any one person. It is everyone's responsibility that comes into contact with the weapon.
@jamescaldwell2357 not on set. That's why people are hired to do certain things. An actor is not trained, insured or qualified to make such inspections, thus not allowed to determine if a weapon is safe. It's an insurance thing. It passed through 2 sets of hands before it was given to him. She loaded it. That makes her responsible. The person she handed it to allegedly inspected it and said it was safe. You obviously have never been taugh basic gun safety. First and foremost, clear the gun. You personally are obligated to verify if any gun that you hold in your hand is or is not loaded, period. Second lesson, don't point a gun at anything that you do not intend to destroy. Third, it's your finger on the trigger, it's you that are in control.
@@effenbob3297 the second lesson doesn't even make sense in this context. They aim the gun at people all the time when doing a film. this is a movie production. The actors are not told to shake every bullet once its given to them to check if its a dummy or live round. so what are you talking about.
Scapegoat.
Soft punishment for accidentally taking a person's life. I also agree with the defense attorney that there should be more charges brought up on other people that are responsible for this Woman's death. It doesn't seem like serious punishments are being given anyways sadly. A year and a half to the other people responsible is still a slap in the face but I guess any punishment for an accident that took a person's life is some type of Justice. Obviously it won't bring her back but some type of punishment has to be given otherwise this will continue to happen. Human beings are so careless. Now did Alec Baldwin point and fire this firearm at her or did it ricochet off something? I find it strange if he pointed and fired at someone.
The actors were handed a prop and it turned out to be loaded with real bullets. The gun was in the custody of a trained professional that was hired with safety expressly in mind. I don't hold the actors... the non-gun professionals... accountable for the sad events that happened on that set. The production company and those in charge are responsible in terms of civilly. But I believe that they are not criminally responsible. Whoever brought live rounds to the set and put them in the gun. Whoever was responsible for insuring that the weapon wasn't "live" and safe to use as a prop is criminally responsible. As much as some people dislike Baldwin, he had no intention of firing a live round and was handed what should have been a functional prop.
I do think, depending on his involvement as producer (there are many levels and types), he may be culpable in some way (not as the actor who fired the shot). If not criminally, then definitely in civil court. He ran a shoddy ship and this is what happens.
Well it's New Mexico, so don't be surprised if she's given an ankle monitor and a gift card to the local cannibis store...
Now do Alec Baldwin
And charge him with what?, he was handed a "prop" by the professional hired to make the firearms safe.
He didn't know the gun was loaded, it was given to him...
@@weehoo_bananasthat’s still manslaughter. He wasn’t smart enough or informed enough to check any weapon you handle before pulling the trigger.
She is the sole person responsible for what happened. Yes Alec could have checked each bullet and shake it to see if it had BBs in it but that isn't his job, it's hers.
There were a lot of safety issues on that set and someone decided to put live ammo in the gun, likely to prove a point and it resulted in death.
Baldwin is just as responsible as she is. He pointed the gun and pulled the trigger. He has been around guns if to know better
I'm heartbroken for her. The people above her in the production should bear some responsibility.
Halls gets off lightly and Baldwin will probably get probation and made to pay massive compensation.
Baldwin picks up a loaded gun, points it at a person not in the movie squeezes the trigger and she gets prison and a fine? What a joke.
The judge didn't read the verdict, the jury did. Did the news anchor bother even paying attention? A+ ABC News.
9:49 "She's a young kid" wth?? You can tell the reporter is a full time feminist, don't have a slight idea what accountability is 🤡
18 Months is pathetic, Ms. Hutchins' family will never be able to hug their daughter.
Only 18 months? New Mexico lets criminals off pretty easy .
did her mother just flip someone off as she left upset in the court room
Where's her daddy who trained the Armorer?? He hasn't even made a statement yet. Ass
Her father is an armorer doesn't make her one.
Wow so many psychics are commenting, I am impressed!
Take a look at her mum as she left the court!!! Wow, no wonder...crazy family.
That lady did not have any business dealing with firearms. Idiotic was the person that hired her for that position.
unbelievable
Hello what happened to this lady somebody knows please thank you
She got off easy.
She got railroaded
That's disappointing can I have this fellow citizens will sit on a jury and come up with this stuff you can clearly see that nobody respected her and listened to her she is an advocate of the law on the movie set is she trained the actors and they didn't listen Baldwin ass for the gun and decides he wants to start rehearsing and did not call for her I would be really disappointed if she goes into the jail she should get 18 months home arrest I for one would not have found her guilty with the information that I've seen Justin 12 hours of about a half a dozen videos I don't know what people are thinking
If she had plead guilty, would that have made any difference? None of this happened by intent. RIP Halyna Hutchins.
Not looking good for Mr Baldwin.
No one says it, so I have to do it. The last instance, fortress of reason, me. The most guilty in this case is Halyna Hutchins, DOP. She directed Alec's gun to herself, and she didn't use the other techniques, giving her the same visual effect in the safe way. Because she is dead, no one accuses her. For example, if she used a mirror, and Alec would direct the gun toward the mirror, not to the camera, and the camera would be directed to the image of the gun in the mirror, not to the gun directly, all crew members would be happy now, drinking champagne. Her lack of knowledge about useful techniques, giving full protection to the crew, made situation danger, especially to her. I would say that she risked her life, crew members life, and she forget about safety on the first place, because she decided what the crew should do technically. She created danger situation, and was victim of it.
Prosecutors want blood these days. They wanna charge everyone either something. There are no “accidents”, unless it’s a civil matter where someone could get a buck or two.
Good she is a mess. Did not handle her responsibility on the set.
What baffles me is why they didn't use special blank firing guns that could not fire bullets.
Bye Felicia
The judge wants to protect her privacy but there were cameras in the courtroom? 🤔
