- A great keto pizza crust remains largely the stuff of myth. There are some really good recipes out there, such as Black Tie Kitchen's "Pizza Crust 2.0" - but what if you don't want to make your own from scratch?
The products in this review were provided for free on the condition that the manufacturer agrees that I will do a fair and honest review.
I this video, I try out the pizza crust mix from Keto Bakes. I render my verdict on it and get the opinion of a couple of non-keto folks, my son Connor and my grandson Colton.

I'll never understand the people who say the crust on pizza doesn't matter... its at least 50% of the reason to eat pizza lol
to me the crust is the best for me if it is good the whole pizza is good
The crust was and has been my favorite part of a pizza and has definitely been my make or break factor when returning to certain pizza joints.
Yep, add a couple layers of these "crust doesn't matter" pizzas and that gives you lasagna. IF that were the case. Eggplant bake. Etc etc
I sincerely, seriously miss a white spinach pizza. Imma gonna try this! Thanks for doing the heavy lifting!
We all know who the star of the show is! I have figured out a cauliflower crust thatâs acceptable to me but I definitely miss a crispy, yeasty crust. I donât understand people that donât eat pizza crust, that was always the part I couldnât wait to get to!
We use this product regularly and we like it a lot. Surprised at how good this was. It has little impact on my glucose.
The maker of Sooo Ketolicious pizza crust is from Ottawa, Ontario Canada where I am from. I agree with you, they are one of the BEST crusts and she also makes dessert crusts.
"Good enough for government work."--something my dad always said and I quote it, too. Love it!
đ€Łđ
I appreciate you doing these tests so much Steve!
Thank you for this review Steve. I have been missing pizza. Hopefully I can try it soon.
I love that you have your family in your videos and your grandson always steals the show.
Order placed and just got the email it is shipped and on the way...maybe Pizza for the weekend!!!! Thanks for looking into all this stuff for us Steve. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the review! This is something I really miss on Keto but my kitchen is tiny and I'm not really into the fuss of making one from scratch. I can handle a bowl and a mixer! Just placed my order and can't wait to try!
I'm not expecting to get an exact replacement for flour crust while trying to attain the fewest carbs possible. But it looked as if your thin version was pretty good. I wonder if using the tortilla press might be an easier way to make several small pizza crusts. Our previous favorite was the chicken crust and we're looking forward to trying this out. They seem to have a few products and would be nice to see reviews on them as well if you get the chance. Thank you Steve. Great review.
That is a great idea with the tortilla press. That would give you a very thin (and likely crispy) crust. I'll have to try that with my next batch, as I think the lack of gluten in the dough lends itself to pressing that way.
I was thinking the same thing with the press!
@@SeriousKeto We bought 3 bags of the pizza crust maker (3 of the buns as well) using your coupon Steve (thank you). Keto Bakes kept us updated on fulfilling and shipping. Seems like a company focused on the customer.
We made the dough following the directions on the package and the video. Using a food processor made it a breeze. It smelled yeasty which gives it more the illusion of bread. After the resting period I cut the dough ball almost in half.
Used the tortilla press to make the thin crust. Took about 5 or 6 presses as I would trim the squeeze-out and place it on thinner sections and squeeze again. Came out great. One was about 1/8", the other a little thicker since it wasn't evenly in half.
We probably overcooked about 5 minutes but we still enjoyed this crust. Especially the thinner one. It tended to crumble in your mouth much like a cookie and it had very little taste. We might add some Italian seasoning to the next batch to experiment.
Overall we were very happy with this product. Can't wait to try the buns!
I placed an order! Canât wait to try it! Thank you Steve!
Thanks looking forward to trying this love seeing Colton and Conner their looking good
âItâs tasty!â Iâll buy anything that both Steve and Colton like đ
DUDE SPOILERS đ
đ€Łđ
Great review. The dough is wayyyyy more than a vessel for the toppings for sure.đ
Bad crust does not a good pizza make.
Steve another good review video. Thank you.
Thank you for the review. I think I'll give them a try đ
Thanks for the video! I ordered it to try it for myself. I really miss pizza and if this can get close I will be so happy! I'll let you know đ
*Thank you for this great review* đ
You talked me into it, sure miss pizza. Thanks for the discount code and all your hard work.
âThe crust can make or break the pizzaâ, I canât agree more!
Thanks for the review Steve, we just placed an order with your discount. Looking forward to trying this.
Hope you enjoy it!
It was nice to see Connor and Colton giving their opinion on the pizza. Colton is such a little cutie. He looks just like his daddy.
Thank you for reviewing this pizza dough. I canât wait to try it!
Thanks for the great review.
All I needed to know is "It's tasty". Gave me a chuckle, he's such sweetie.
Thanks Steve for this pizza dough review â€ïž
Omg I want pizza now lol. Thanks for the video, beautiful family you have too!!
That looks so good! Now I need pizza. Thanks Steve!!
That cast iron pan is gorgeous! And the pan pizza is as pretty as a picture. Thanks for the glass hack too!
Thank you for the review. It's good to see options for when the family wants pizza night.
I don't eat it often, but was pleasantly surprised by how canned chicken pizza crust worked out. This is from someone who wouldn't touch canned chicken with a 10ft pole. Even with the step of drying it out in the oven, it seems to be less work than most of the other recipes that I've seen, and it's very neutral.
I totally agree that the dough makes or breaks a pizza, this coming from a former sourdough pizza crust lover.( I used to make it regularly, but nowadays only once every 2 months. Thank you for another great video.
Looks good, Steve. Thanks for testing it for us. Scott
Thanks for the video. I have some of their product on order. We are a gluten-free home and I am looking forward to trying out their product (which I would not have done without your review).
Canât wait to try. Ordered!
Thanks Steve, I'm going to try it!
Great review. Being super strict right now but good info for the future. Colton is adorable.
I love to see your family members join in!
Great video ! Beautiful family !
I tried this a year or so ago - back in the day when I could still eat cheese. I did think it was good. So if doc ever gives me there green light to try cheese again (which he says could happen) I will order some more.
it was nice seen Colton and Connor together :) And they both liked it!
Great video, thank you for the 20% off, I purchased for myself and as Valentines gifts for keto friends and family. đ
The crust is a must! It's the vehicle to everything else. Thank you Steve. Colton and Conner were the best to review! đ
Love your channel. The grandson, too cute!
I agree with you, Steve! Pizza is all about the crust! And if Colton likes it, it must be good!
I've been using their products for a few years now and I love them! The buttery biscuits are one of my favs, as well as their cupcake and frosting mixes. Have a package of the pizza crust but have not tried it yet.
Great review as alwaysâŠ
I probably enjoy the crust more than the toppings. I could eat just the chewy dough of pizza all day long. But I've been on Keto for 6yrs so probably more bread obsessed than most.
Just ordered this can't wait to try it, it's not that pricing I bought the package of 3 for the same price as a large "patrolman special pizza" here in my hometown. Once again thank you, Steve! Your little grandson sold me on this kids don't đ€„ when it comes to food
Canât wait to try this!
I will love to see the biscuits. Thanks for the vidoe.
Love the way your pizza came out. I have tried a frozen cauliflower pizza and was surprised that it was crispy crust. Only had veggies on it. Every time I make it I forget to pre cook Italian sausage which will make it better. Right now I canât remember the name but the store is Kroger owned.
This dough seems really promising especially with the boys approval! I've been using Thin Slim's pre made pizza crusts which have been my favorite so far in terms of keto friendly net carb value, texture and flavor. They're technically dirty keto but haven't caused me issues with dropping out of ketosis. I'm looking forward to giving this a go!
Youâre right. Itâs the crust that makes the pizza. Iâll have to order some of this.
And that Colton is just so stinking cute.
Just an aside, but youâre the only other person Iâve heard who says âgood enough for government work!â outside of a few of us from Philly.
Good pizza crust is absolutely the foundation of a great pizza! My current favorite âpre-madeâ mix is Scottyâs Everyday for pizza, bread, biscuits and cupcakes! Their breads have that âfresh from the oven yeasty smell and tasteâ that Iâve missed!đ
I wish it didn't have erythritol. I know it's not a problem for most people but it does not play nicely with IBS. I treasure (and patronize!) those keto producers who avoid sugar alcohols.
I ordered it! Canât wait to check it out. Iâll let you know if I think itâs worth the price.
Iâve bought there sandwich bun mix, and really liked that. Iâll have to try there pizza mix now. Thanks for the review!
I have some of that but haven't tried it yet. Review coming soon...
@@SeriousKeto I canât wait to see what you think.
I ordered the 3 pack of pizza crust. Hope it's good. Your recommendations usually are. Thanks for the discount code. :-)
Adorable! If that lil guy likes it and takes a second bite, itâs a winner recipe. đđ»đđ»
Great review Steve and I was so excited to try the pizza crust and delighted to see you have a 20% discount code. There was only one thing that stopped me from ordering. As I live in Canada a $79.00 order had a duty and tax charge of over $42.00. Wow đź Maybe one day there wonât be such a huge discrepancy in prices between Canada and the USA. In the meantime I will continue to watch your videos and enjoy all of the great recipes and the reviews you work so hard on for all of your subscribers. PS I got the lupin flour and will be baking with it this weekend. Take care Steve you are amazing.
Shipping to Canada is rough. No argument from me.
Maybe try ordering from Amazon/ Canada so it doesn't have to cross the USA border, worth a try. God luck
@@doramather4729 I just looked it up in Amazon Canada and it does not seem to be available yet. Maybe in the future?
That looks pretty darned good! I might have to give this a try sometime but I want to try Black Tie Kitchen's 2.0 crust first. Pizza is probably the thing I still miss most since I started eating low carb. I would probably try the thicker pizza with this mix because that yeasty doughy flavor is what I miss.
If I had the patience, I would have let it set for a full 2 hours to let the yeast flavor develop.
Black Tie's takes way too long for me.
Thank you just placed a nice order with them. And thanks for the discount coupon save myself some dough lol.
I see what you did there.
Steve, watching this 5 months after you posted this. Made store bought pizza dough pizza last night. It felt so heavy. Hubs needs to lose some weight. Definitely going to give this a try. Thank you for all your hard work both time and wear on your body.
One of these day (or weeks), I plan to experiment with this mix some more. I'd really like to see what happens if vital wheat gluten is added. I'll definitely post my results when the time comes.
I completely agree Steve. A good pizza for me all comes down to the crust. Not a super fan of thin crust pizza but I deep dish one really gets me going!
Iâve always been a fan of pan pizza, but not a fan of doughiness. Maybe Iâll try it in a slightly larger skillet. Thin-pan pizza? IMO the edges of a pan pizza crust are worth any extra effort. I like thin crust too so I might try dividing the dough like you did and making both.
If Colton says itâs tasty, thatâs good enough for me! Placing an order today đ
He is ADORABLE!! Sweet baby boy! đâ€ïž
It looks good and your demo was perfect. I'm not doing yeast in any of the keto "bread" products. So if you find a great replacement without yeast, I'm in. Still doing homemade. And what about that sauce? That looked great!
Your grandson is getting so big but ohhh so cute!! Knows where the camera is too!!
About 3 or 4 years ago I was very serious on keto and lost 45 lbs. I started adding the carbs back to my life and slowly the weight came back. I am thinking about restarting back on keto again and your channel has given me some inspiration. Thank you.
I consider keto an anti-inflammatory diet.. the older I get the more my body enjoys keto.. my knees are much happier...not waking me up at night.. I'm kinda thinking I just have to be keto.. the fact that I'm not hungry really helps me stay on keto.. I remember being on the blood type diet and being ravenous.. good luck
@@deereverywhere Thank you!
Have you been watching El Presidente and his one bite challenge lol? Good review Steve, crust looked solid for sure
Love your taste testers... đ
Blessings
Placed my order... I've tried so many ways to make pizza crust, and none have really worked. I'm hoping this will be the way!
Steve, completely agree. Crust makes or breaks a pizza. No cardboard, no crackers, no bready thick crusts please. And oh, goodness, the video ending is priceless! It's tasty!!!!
I'm excited to give this a try. I have not found a keto pizza crust that I like, either from mix, pre-made, or home-made. To me, the crust is the key to great pizza.
At the risk of offending the ingredient police, I feel like this mix with a little vital wheat gluten, could be truly great.
@@SeriousKeto That was my thought! Iâm 90% clean but use VWG fairly often. I have found that a little whey isolate helps the texture of doughs as well.
Thanks Steve. I have all those ingredients and am going to take a crack at that dough from scratch. Enjoy making cauliflower crust from scratch and wonder how this will match up. I'll order some on line and make a " crust off".
I also deduct sugar alcohols which makes it 1 net carb for me. Thanks Steve!đ
Looks good and really easy to make.
Great review! I put yeast in my fathead dough.... it does add a bit of yeasty smell and taste.... though next time I will get the instant yeast (I'm not a baker and was clueless when I bought what I have... lol).
Colton is growing up so fast! Enjoy him while you can!!
I'm glad you did this because I have 4 packages in my pantry.
I'm jealous. I only have one package in my pantry. đ
Dennis is a miracle with doughs.
Good afternoon Steve. I just purchased an air fryer and was wondering if you could do a video of some good keto recipes. Unsure of recipes I can trust and so of course I thought of you. Thank you for all you do.đ
I don't have any air fryer recipes. Certainly, if I come up with one, I'll do a video.
Sounds and looks delicious
Kid approved!? Definitely ordering. Thanks for this review. I wonder what the difference would be from letting it rise an additional hour.
I plan to find out the next time I make it. đ
Yummy. I want to try that.
Nice to see you found a use for a Rocks glass besides whisky.
I totally agree the crust on the pizza is very important
Hey Steve, I just ordered their 30 day kit. $255 value, introductory price $199.95. I applied your code and got 20% off the kit. I am excited to try these products.
I have 4 of their other baking products that I'm looking forward to trying out. I went with the pizza crust first, because I felt that was the one most likely to disappoint me.
Sounds like a winner. I have been using meat crust pizzas and enjoying them laterly
The crust can make or break a pizzaâŠthanks for giving us another option for a crust to help make pizza awesome! Because, well PIZZA!!!
Ooh! This looks great! Will definitely try.
For a pre-made keto-friendly pizza crust, I highly recommend the crust from RealFoods. Terrific!
Maybe you will convince me to go pizza again instead of pizza casserole. Once in awhile hand held food is nice. Colton is so cute! And you know you're going to get an honest reaction there. Thanks, Steve.
First off, thanks for the things you do to provide us with information ... very appreciated.
Secondly, I'm not a member of the keto police. I figure just about *anything* is keto in small enough quantities. Just for some things, the quantities are going to be really, really, absurdly small. Toying with ideas you mention, of VWG or yeast to provide more springiness and flavor in a pizza crust, what kind of amounts do you think would work, and how much 'harm' would they probably do? Because I also agree the pizza crust has a lot to do with how good a pizza is.
And while I might usually be willing to do the 'just dump some mozzarella in the bottom of the pan, crisp it up a bit and call it a crust,' it would be nice to get a full, chewy, cripy crust now and then.
Vital wheat gluten is essentially all protein. As such, it should have little to no impact on blood glucose or ketones. Some people have inflammation and/or gut issues with it. I'm not one of those people, thankfully. The next batch I make of this (and it will be at least a couple of weeks out), I'll experiment with adding some VWG to the mix. It think that could lend a really nice chew to this dough.
It is totally about the crust. My mom is Sicilian and made homemade pizza and bread and itâs so hard to get a crust that is edible enough to forget about homemade. I donât care what you top it with if the crust isnât good the pizza isnât good.
This sounds like it might be worth the try.
Steve! What a coincidence. Tonight i was going to try and make a pizza with fat head dough in my cast iron griddle. I think i got a few tips to make it edible. Pizza on Steve! đđ ........................ đđđ
sounds like a good option. I may need to try to it.
$26 for THREE on Amazon!!??? Yikes!
I make this mix all the time! Love it! I make a big sheet pan pizza and it feeds the whole family with leftovers. One time I accidentally put a half of a cup of water instead of 1/4 cup and I liked it better so been making it that way ever since đ
Good tip. I'll have to try that.
That's a great idea for a family...do a sheet sized pizza, probably easier too!
Almond flour crusts can be weird, right? I found that for me, they are best as leftovers and reheated in a med-hot cast iron pan with a spray of olive oil, to sort of fry it in there a bit. Beyond pretty good at that point! Great review - I will buy some.
Perfect timing!
Hi Steve. Thanks for the review.. I will prob try Dennis' recipe first.. have you tried preheating the cast iron before adding the dough? It's always worked well for my pies (on the oven or grill).. maybe that would cook it up better.. nice to see the boys, too.. đ
Iâll need to get some more to experiment with. My first time through, I wanted to follow the instructions on the packet (with the exception of the hand mixer).
