I agree with you 100% as I have these same vendors gloves in large (3 stripes). I have a pair from 1944 militaria I purchased 11 years ago that are identical with the same odd thumb and extra bulk. Very difficult to function with in the field I found.
I had mine through the post two weeks ago. They're awesome! I ordered the small size gloves, for my tiny but manly hands they fit perfectly with no excess material. I do not own nor have I handled an original pair but the gloves match perfectly to an original pair in a photo in the book Deutsche Soldaten, even the thumb. I believe that the problem is due to larger size of glove.
I just tried on my original gloves. They don't have the looseness as these. Perhaps if you went downba size they wouldn't have as much room? But I've always heard good things about At the Fronts. Good video!
Thanks for the video! Gloves are very important, I have found as you that one simply does not use uncomfortale gloves. I think they are made in only 1 pattern. I think however the fix should be pretty easy (seeing that you are a very handy man from your other videos), if a bit risky. Remove the sewing where thumb meets palm (i guess they are knitted then sawn). Remove a halfmoon-shape of material in the palm and re-sew thumb. This might be easier if you fold the gloves inside-out first. Making the thumb smaller should be possible the same way, also easier on the reverse. If something breaks, you could mend it with wool-yarn to make a worn, mended glove. Best wishes!
I had a lot of trouble recently when trying to find a pair of gloves to use for reenacting. I ordered multiple pairs but they would either come out wrong color, size, pattern. I eventually found some that will work but it was a hassle.
@@GreetingsandSalutations4007 I ordered them from sportsman’s guide I believe. They were a bit too big on my fingers so I flipped them inside out and sewed them shut where my fingers ended and cut the excess off. After that they worked fine. They were just grey wool gloves.
Great to see this new vid from you . I agree that thumb seems to be a strange design - I have a n original pair you can compare them to if that is helpful 👍🏻
Review Feldmutze M43 please

Madcap247 Yes might be the large size.

Thanks :) And yes please!
have you found any of the repro socks that actually last more than 2 days before they get threadbare and holed on the soles?
No, and because of that I use traditional Icelandic wool socks, I showed them in one of my GJR video.
Always helpful
Good to hear :)
What vendor has the best, most accurate reproduction?
I have seen them on ATF and Hessen. But seem to be sold out. Once in a while you can find the on ebay.
WW2 Wiking - Review, History and Reenactment interesting thank you. But also very frustrating that they are always sold out. Why is that?
