This is one of my favorite of his songs -- and that's no small compliment. The sensitivity and nuance he brings to everything he does is exceptional. It's as if he's walked in a million different shoes.
It sucks chris Stapleton came out in a time of “pop country”. I think his voice is amazing. I sing his songs at karaoke all the time. He’s one of my modern favs
I don't care when he debuted. In my opinion, he'd have blown away 99% of the performers that have ever gone on a stage. A true once in a lifetime talent.

By far one of the best songs I've ever heard. Not just by Chris, but anyone, ever.
2 of my favorite nuances of this song are 1. The way the vocals and guitar go back and forth so it seems he's having a conversation with it, since on death row you wouldn't have anyone else to talk to, and 2. The way the instrumental drags out at the end so you feel the passing of time like the ticking of a clock
I love the subtle guitar that he brings in. It doesn’t overwhelm but adds to the overall feel.

Yes his voice is amazing and so is he. He was down in Ky helping the flood victims. He got right into the dirty work with his hands. If we face the harsh side of reality we are all on death row. Have been from the day we were born.

I have been trying to get my 13 yr old to like Chris, and he has slowly been sucked in. He doesn’t want to admit that he likes him. But when I have him on in the car, I can see him tapping his foot and bobbing his head!!

Cannot listen to this without doing "the ugly face"... where he hits that nerve with all the pain he has to throw at you... easily my top three CS songs... and his leaving his beloved Morgaine out on this was critical... he needed to be alone in this cold, stark space... Insane writing and performance and criminally underappreciated. Now... for something fun... look up NPRs Tiny Desk and Chris... you will get to see him perform with his Love and watch their interaction. Even on the big stage... I believe she is watching for his cue but she is also a woman in love with a man who absolutely loves her. Not a react vid.. just a "you owe yourself this" vid. Peace!

I was in West Virginia for a crossing with my fraternity,the divine 9 kappa alpha psi. Wall stemming and waiting for the elevator I heard this song. Let me make myself perfectly clear. I am from Orlando Florida. I happen to play football in what you do.
And while wedding on the elevat a Cleaning personnel had the song playing on Her cart. I'm not a country music fanatic.
