    Nobody has asked why it has taken so long to start the work. It is though Eurostar moving out caught them by surprise. They say that Waterloo is busy but they thought the top priority would be turn the platforms into a theatre for 'The Railway Children'.
    Whoever was responsible for this should have been sacked. The builders should have been on the job the day after Eurostar moved out. It will be eleven years when it finally opens!

      I believe the plans weren't actually set in stone for many years - after the international station closed, any ideas to redevelop it were just proposals. in fact the main proposal at the time was to allow southern services into the platforms.

    ASHFORD Eurostar, the upstairs room, once you clear security, is so nice with lots of space. The lift up to security, with Euro Disney design inside. Aladdin and Jasmine, on Aladdin's carpet

      That's one reason, as the tracks the Eurostar used to run on were very busy and it caused delays, but the main reason was that it was a really slow line, you'd be chugging around south London and Kent for over an hour

    Well made video I enjoyed this. Waterloo was where I first went from to Brussels It was great for people coming into the country for the first time seeing all the buildings but St Pancras is so much better. You are at the Chunnel in far less time now.

      I don't really see why they would, it's a slower and less reliable line (because it's very congested) and the St Pancras Eurostar is just better

      Because it takes too long to go through all those stations to get to Waterloo

    • @grassytramtracks
      @grassytramtracks Před 2 lety +1

      Because the line to Waterloo is slow and congested, the line to St Pancras is a high speed line which isn't as busy. Before HS1, the Eurostar spent an age chugging around, snaking its way through south London and Kent. I understand nostalgia, but the St Pancras Eurostar is just objectively better in every way

  • @billybobbillygatespersonma2571

    Don’t tell me Eurostar’s use 3rd rail

    • @DavidWood2
      @DavidWood2 Před 6 lety +5

      They used to, in order to serve Waterloo International. Once High Speed 1 was opened all the way to St Pancras, the shoes were removed and the 750V DC power equipment was isolated. The new Velaro sets do not have 750V DC power capability.

    • @cyberknue1598
