  • Tom's Key Company now open! Buy a keyless entry remote fob: tomskey.com/
My remotes may be a small amount more than Amazon, but please consider buying from my website if you find this video helpful (and seriously - I just saved you $100 or more from what a car dealership charges). Or send a tip my way via PayPal: paypal.me/TomahawkDIY
Rent a remote programmer - works for 2004-2018 vehicles! Keys/Remotes for Sale Too from Tom's Key Company.
Toyota Sienna, Sequoia, & Tacoma remote programming instructions. The dealership will charge a lot to program a keyless remote; you can do it easily and save big money. Buy a the keyless entry remote key:
    Amazon USA: amzn.to/2iyTu0z
    Amazon Canada: amzn.to/2jQLpFA
    Amazon UK: amzn.to/2iyXwFX
    (affiliate links)
This works for Toyota vehicles that use a keyless remote model: GQ43VT20T.
Please leave comments on the make/model and year of vehicle that you used it on so others know that it works. I"m told the following are compatible - if you find one that doesn't work, please comment so I can note in the list
    Toyota Sequoia: 2008 2009
    Toyota Sienna: 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009
    Toyota Tacoma: 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009
*** 2010+ model years require dealer programming (lock shops can probably do for less money). Also, I'm told that all Toyota Tundra & Highlanders require dealer programming for the keyless fob clicker remote. Tom's Key Company can help you out with a rental programmer!

Thank you Mike, I bought my 2007 Sienna with one remote not programmed, dealer asked for over $100. I kept the one for 10 years until I followed your video today. In 2 minutes I have programmed the keyless remote. Valuable video!

I rewrote the instructions for my advantage, got myself two remotes from the suggested site, and in less than five minutes had two more operational key fobs. I have a 2011 Tacoma TRD Off road with all of the bells and whistles.....It works! One happy camper thanks you! Keys are next, thank you for that video as well.

Worked perfectly for a Toyota 2007 4runner! For the key cutting I'd recommended going to a good locksmith and avoid big box stores like homedepot or ace who sometimes don't cut blanks that aren't their own. I got a blank first to test the fidelity of cutting first, then got my transponder key cut after programming it. Total cost was about $20 and a few hours of my time.

Great video, real time solution that worked for my 2009 Tacoma that has 109k miles. The fob quit working suddenly, I went to my local Florida dealer who told me the cost would be $99 For a diagnosis-which would NOT apply to any repair or parts-plus perhaps $200 for the actual repair or reprogramming! Or he would sell me a new key-also for $300! I nearly choked at such unmitigated avarice.
    THANK YOU, Tomahawk DIY!

I phone the dealer, Williams lake bc Canada and was told..$260 for the replacement, labor was $220 and reprogram was also $220...a $700 bill. Of course, I said I can live without it. This morning,I watched this video and tried what was said. It Worked!!! . I am going to call back that dealer and ..... well I will keep what I will tell them to myself. Thank you for making my day.

Hi Mike. I had to do a similar type thing, but a different sequence. when I got my Chevy truck a couple years ago that only came with one key. In my vehicle, all the fobs for the vehicle need to be programmed at the same time. The first time I only programmed the new fob and the old one quit working. Had to do it a second time, this time with both fobs for them to work.
Makes me wonder what other things can be controlled/programmed through hidden sequences like this. I had one vehicle in the past where you could get the ODM-II service codes out of it through a series of switching different switches on and off. I had a co-worker once who's Prius stopped working one snowy morning. Turns out the wheel slippage on the ice caused it to go into a fault mode and shutdown. It was able to be reactivated through a similar series of switch activations.
    Peace.

I purchase a 2009 Tacoma few days ago and I went through this process to program a new remote and it didn't work. I noticed there was a blue blinking light near the bottom left panel where hood release latch was. It occurred to me that the previous owner must've installed a after market car alarm. Having said this, would this interfere with programming the new remote? Thanks.

Thanks for the instructions. Do you know how many remotes can be programmed to the vehicle? Also, if one is already programmed to the vehicle, do you have to go through the programming steps with that one again, when programming the additional new one(s)?

+Philip Wolcott not sure on the maximum number of remotes. As I recall, I only needed to program my new remotes. Did not erase the old ones. Hope that helped!!
