CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The Blues Brothers play the big show and bring the house down.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Expanding on their Saturday Night Live characters, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd star as Jake and Elwood Blues, two white boys with black soul. Sporting cool shades and look-alike suits, Jake and Elwood are dispatched on a "mission from God" by their former teacher, Sister Mary Stigmata (Kathleen Freeman). Said mission is to raise $5000 to save an orphanage. In the course of their zany adventures, the Blues Brothers run afoul of neo-Nazi Henry Gibson, perform the theme from Rawhide before the most unruly bar crowd in written history, and lay waste to hundreds of cars on the streets and freeways of Chicago. In case you aren't swept up in the infectuous nuttiness of the brothers Blue, you might have fun spotting film's legion of guest stars, including James Brown, Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, John Candy, Carrie Fisher, Steve Lawrence, Twiggy, Paul Reubens (aka Pee-Wee Herman), Frank Oz, and Steven Spielberg.

Who still thinks this as fresh as the day it was released?
No doubt
I won a GONG show, juggling to this!!

It’s perfect. There’s not one scene that isn’t fun
I don't care how old you are.this movie has to be watched

Carrington Ndhlovu I grew up watching it. I will always recommended it
Everybody Everybody !
40 years, and just the greatest band of misfits
Dan Akroy’d’s dancing kills me. Every. Single. Time.
He had true dancing skills as a youngster
Happy feet ... Chuckles of joy from me, too!
Remember when they used to make movies that didn’t suck? I miss those days.
This falls in the. Category of SNL movies that did work.
Literally could be said at any point in time since movies where invented. Hollow, pointless statement.
Maybe try enjoying something without putting something else down, for a change.
Yes. It was before Biden became a president.
yeah about that
You're just insecure and know he's right on some level, if you truly believed modern movies are good you wouldn't be bothered by baseless criticism @@VideoMeltdown
Dan aykroyd's dancing abilities are criminally underrated
true
100% Agree
i tried it a little bit, man its hard!
As are Belushi's singing capabilities
Yes indeed, just look at those spins. They are true art lol...
I love Aykroyd and Belushi performed in concert. Thank you, Blues Brothers.
I've tried to replicate Elwood's moves all my life failing miserably. He just got it right.
I tried to replicate jakes moves in the church scene (not the cartwheel) and lets just say i rolled my ankle.
@@the4thtomato138 did you see the light? I've heard it helps.
Si fóssim tots podria ser la vida aixi de guapa
We all wish we could.
Been there. Nope
Dan Aykroyd is 10% bad dancer, 90% sublime dancing athlete life changing force of nature.
Belushi and he had chemistry...but congrats to landis too
John candy was good too here

This movie is over 35 years old, but the music and the characters will always be timeless :-D
Very True!
I saw the movie when it came out, and it is STILL one of my Absolute Favorite Films!
Carrie Fisher with a rocket launcher XD
one of my all-time favorite movies.its got everthing- music, comedy, action, famous lines and dialogue. to Belushi and ackroyd for their roles of Jake and Elwood. this movie had it all!
RIP Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) 1956-2016, Us Blues Brothers and Star Wars series fans miss you so very much.
Christopher Howell what
Forty years later and this movie is still a masterpiece! My dad showed me this movie because he saw it as a teenager! I’m really glad he showed me! This is my favorite movie of all time!
This is one of our families favorite movies!
How about this my brother-in-law named the Pomeranian, Elwood & the short haired, dachshund, Jake. Now that's love.😍💖
Same
Your story is like mine but my mom showed me and she was my age. I rest don’t know how I never heard of it!
Very close to 40 years june 20th marks the 40th anniversary so be prepared for the special edition dvd/blu ray
@Hunter Smith also my dad's favourite (and mines). My dad is a DJ. He's been doing his Blues Brothers skit for 30 years now. He and his DJ partner always go out dressed as the Blues Brothers and always performed this song in the bars. They have the whole bar singing with them everytime. Everyone calls him the Karaoke King. They all love him.
I've now joined him in the fun. They love the father-son duo we've become.
Everybody needs somebody to love!
Hands down, one of the greatest comedy movies, as well characters ever!!! Sorely miss The Blues Brothers!!!!
We have BOTH kinds of music.... Country AND Western.
100% mate, the 👌
Stop missing them! Watch the movie again, mate 😁
Houston HAD a Tribute Duo, Blues Brothers act complete with Police Car. They were very talented.
///
THAT SAID, John Belushi & Dan Aykroyd had some great Blues projects ahead of them should John have not met his untimely end.
Would you believe it was released over 40 years ago? Still fresh & good even now.
Jake and Elwood ACTUALLY brought the blues back to life in the 80's...If Sly Stallone can get into the Boxing Hall of Fame, The Blues Brothers belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!!!
Stalone is in the Boxing hall of Fame? WTF...?
Right next to Elvis Presley
I'm not a boxing fan and I think that's an abomination.
I don't know if they should be in the Rock and Hall of Fame if they never had any original music.
indiglo1971 Should Frank Sinatra be in a Singer’s Hall Of Fame, even though he didn’t write *his* songs? The R&R HoF isn’t just singer/songwriters, after all.
Blues Brothers's 40th anniversary is here, baby!
Hell yeah!
Yeah!
Yeah the 1 movie we are celebrating
I'm 40 i love this song
And no one knows that but you.
This movie spoke the truth - the universal thing that binds all of us is that everybody needs someone to love , so I NEED YOU YOU YOU
And an old Dodge Cop Car to cruise around in ,whilst listening to the song 🎵.😎👍🏻
Elmwood with the black suit, white socks, and the dance moves of all time!!
Will never forgot Princess Leia blowing up their apartment with a bazooka 😁
And plotting Jake's demise in the Curl Up & Dye hair salon.
doughesson what a classic 😁
Yeah and the two of them just getting up dusting off and heading to blues mobile without saying a feeking word, just class 😎🇺🇸🇬🇧
Jake trying to seduce her with his dancing eyebrows was gold.
It's nine aclock we're going to be late for work
They should honestly make this into a Broadway musical. I feel like it fits so well, and it would be a hit.
Worth it to see how the car crash pile up would be translated on stage.
Hey, if they can do the cart overturning on stage from Les mis, or the chandelier drop from phantom, I’m sure they can do that
They might have to cheapen out and play the stunts from the movie on a large screen while the actors react in sets of the vehicle interiors
I seem to recall London's West End did do a musical of The Blues Brothers back in 1992. It played at the Whitehall Theatre.
What a GREAT idea. This musical would be one for the ages.!
Dan Aykrooyd had huge talent and insane energy. Everything he does in this picture is an ode to coolness...
@voxydal...Agree so much He was 22 in this movie thin and good looking Dan+John perfect duo 💥🤗
Ça c'est du rythme ça c'est de la chanson c'est ce qui manque le plus pour l'instant mais c'est vrai que toutes les beautés sur Terre on est épuisé
@melanie.l6282 28 actually. Yeah and thin
What you mean Had? The mans still a powerhouse
This is my favorite film with Dan Aykroyd. my 2nd favorite is The Great Outdoors; him & John Candy were such a hilarious rivalry in that film 😂😂
this scene is the only thing that’s giving me serotonin right now
Wow. BTW, Marceline as your pic? Me likey.

Imagine the genius works that could have been
Oh well, that's life I reckon
John had a broken ankle in this scene.
@adriana... I think Dan was so hot then and in spite of the critics I think he was a good dancer The duo was perfect💥❤️
this is EPIC they were the greatest we miss you James you left us to soon
My brother and his fiancé had a wedding 4 years ago at the House of Blues in New Orleans. We held a parade in the street, a blues band followed behind us playing this exact song as we danced with random strangers through the streets of the French Quarter. It really did feel a scene from this a movie! Now every time I hear this song, I think of my brother's wedding. :)
Must be nice to have lot if money
An also his divorce.
Nothing say blues like three million in the bank. 😆.
Crazy lol. I love it!!!!
Cry more broke boy@@jonspear5411
This movie was like a connector between generations… A portal for blues music… The music itself was incredibly good especially to have grown out of an SNL skit! And the stars they featured …what a treat! A time capsule of some of the greats
Amen
Love this movie
Drake and Josh did a riff of this as well which definitely introduced many younger kids to this movie.
Well put, couldn’t of said it any better
It’s A great American Documentary!😎
One of the best films ever made, it's so over the top that it's exquisite

Absolutely!
It's too bad they don't make movies like anymore. It's kind of sad:(
very true, one of the best movies ever made, and thats what the 80's so great is these type of movies, and yes its a real shame that this type of dont get made anymore in this type of style, john landis back in 80's was a master film maker, its a real shame these type of movies ended in the 80's, quality film making with great story and script

Great entertainers. Who knew they could both dance so well? RIP John Belushi, John Candy, Cab Calloway.
Elwood's dancing brings me so much serotonin. You go Blues Boy
My soul's on fire.
This is one of my dad's favorite movies it and the second one him and I used sit and watch both of the blue's brother movies together for a long time
My grandfather loved this movie, so when he died in 2019, we played this song at his funeral, because it meant a lot to me. I always love to hear this song, it makes me think about all the great times with my grandfather
That's great! 💓
Sorry for your loss, it’s a brilliant song ❤️
Nice one , actually I’m really depressed right now, lost a coworker. very devastating , Needed someone to talk to

I'm very sorry for your loss but I just wanna say, my grandpa also loved this movie and we also played this song at his funeral! It was in 2018 but I think it's a funny coincidence.
One of the greatest scenes in movie history. I can't imagine how much fun this movie must have been to film. What a classic
Oh totes! After the sequel came out
... I went for Halloween as the Buster Blues
Must’ve been amazing
Yeah that must have been a blast to roll that camera😂. Excellent point!!
What a masterpiece. I love the film. I keep listening to the soundtrack of the film in spotify.
Classics never die. They just age like the finest wine. Da boys were on point in this flick. Brilliant. I NEVER tire of it. RIP John. And Cab's Minnie the moocher. I've got the original by him, but in the movie his rendition is sublime.
Dan Aykroyd was such an underrated dancer. He's great
🇺🇬 do u know da wae?
This Is one of the rare comments spelling his name right.

@Wade they are so innovated
Haha! That wasn't dancing, that was classy stomping!

One of the greatest movies of all time!! So many fabulous singers and dancers throughout the entire production! They could never make a movie like this today!!

R.I.P. John Belushi and so many others in this movie , all so talented. Still watching this movie.with all the Greats that have passed on. Golden❤️
without drugs would have been much better !
I don't think Dan Aykroyd got the credit he deserves for this crazy, wonderful movie. Thank you sir!
You're right. And as I recall, the movie was kind of sneered at in Hollywood.
HE was the quintissential "Straight man" that made it soooo damn funny. Hollywood sneers at productions that they can't control the content and all aspects of production.
Yeah, back to Lucas....he wanted to do it right! Use special effects that had never been done before. Made "Industrial Light & Magic" as his own company.
The rest is legend!
Agree with you!! I love this movie!!
@@rafaelpecinalopez9881 *I love it too.*
Dan aykroyd was a real artist. He was tje mind and the heart behind those movies and still he played apparently in the background, leaving the scene to belushi and Murray. Great artist, creative, inspired, genuine
I like how the police had them dead to rights, but Mr. Mercer (John Candy) wanted to hear them sing first.
Just imagine, had John Belushi not ODed then he and Dan Aykroyd were going to do a tour across the country as the Blues Brothers. R.I.P. to the SNL legend that is John Belushi (1949-1982).
Such a great film. One of those rare and non-pretentious films that will always be a celebration of music. We need more films like this
With what?, With reggeton music? or the BS they listen now?... I'm not the one who say that everything in the past was better but in music is just true.
I’m 28 and I love this movie!
My kids was obsessed with movie 😂😂 amazing movie ❤
Easily one of the best films of all time. Blues Brothers is an absolute master piece that you'll never get sick off. A gem 😀
Undoubtedly the best musical of all time.
captloki13 undoubtedly
Vatican approved, even.
Little Shop of Horrors
indubitably.
Technically it’s not a musical, a musical comedy would be a better way to describe it. It’s not really a musical unless they sing songs as part of the plot like The Sound Of Music or Mary Poppins. Apart from the song Think by Aretha Franklin, no song is sung as part of the plot, most songs are sung for performances.
A true classic true pair john belushi dan aykroyd 😊
Legends never die! This is beautiful
Belushi’s gymnastics are… well I always thought it was a stunt double. Amazing
Despite his weight, he's agile
One of the greatest movies of all time. A MISSION FROM GOD🙏
The MUSIC!! All the Smashed Cop Cars! Destroying a Shopping Mall. John Candy. John Belushi. And all the musicians!!! Absolutely FABULOUS
Probably the best SNL skit turned movie!!!
"Who wants an orange whip? Orange whip?? Orange whip?? 3 orange whips!!" Nice touch putting in John Candy
4 orange whips
Man, looking at this film now, I love how this whole scene is basically shot on tripods with absolutely no hand held camera shots. Yet it's still such high energy. Kind of a testament to the old style of filmmaking and the totally different feel it gave.
They did not have hand held cameras back then. There was no shaky camera crap then.
That was belushi stage presence. Re watch. Watch especially when he grabs mic like elvis... they go nuts
I’m 33 now and grew up watching this film almost every Sunday with my Dad. I would have given anything to have been in that audience. Never to be repeated.
0:50 I absolutely love that handclap they do
When I was a little girl watching this over and over again everytime this scene comes up I have to get up and dance. My forever childhood hype song. 😜👍🏾
The energy with this song and John Belushi singing/Dan Aykroyd dancing, I can't help but sing along and do the hand gestures for "I need you, you, you, I need you, you, you" every. single. time.
One of my favorite movies of all time.
Never get tired of this movie. Music is so excellent and Akroyd's "dancing" is so fun!
Yes!! No matter what kind of day it has been, when I hear this song and especially when I watch this video I just can't help but get a big grin on my face!! Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi had so much fun together, didn't they? And yes, as other people have noted this music and the movie are timeless and it's hard to believe all of the years that have gone by since it was made!
I don't Hollywood can make another movie this fun and good today
I'm from Chicago, born in 71, and this is like the ultimate Chicago time capsule from the early 80's.. And by far the greatest comedy of all time... I made my daughter watch this, and she didn't want to at first.. But by the time this scene was on she was up singing and dancing to it!
This movie does what all good music does, crosses all color lines!! PHUCKIN TIMELESS!! Classic movie!!
The music is the only part that makes the sequel worthwhile.
When John Belushi sings it almost reminded me of Randy Newman for some reason.
One of my faves. And I don't like musicals this opened my eyes.
@@GPH2474 I don't really consider it a musical, mabye it is idk

Thumbs up if you can't remember how many times you've seen this classic movie and still want to see it again. John Belushi and John Candy were two of the funniest comedic actors of all time. RIP both, the world misses the laughs you gave us.
My favorite movie ever since I was a kid. I was born in 1993, and I must have been like 6 when my mom got me the VHS, and I watched it over and over and over. Will always be my favorite film of all time. It has everything - sweet cars, comedy, action, great actors, real muscians, and its basically a musical in a way. God I live this film
Without doubt the best movie ever made with blazing saddles coming in a close second 🔥🔥
