great info, learning about mounting now for an upcoming project and the distinctions between mounting styles was what i needed to begin understanding how the forward/back positioning affects performance, thanks for making this video!

I prefer a centered short mount - plate about half the size of a traditional mount, centered in the middle instead of the short forward. It does take a while to get used to and certainly not recommended for beginners, either, but I love it! I feel more in control with it than any of my traditionally mounted skates, but it did take me a while to get to that point.

You missed what is commonly referred to as the Aussie Mount.
Pretty much a traditional size plate, but moved forward so the front axle is inline with or forward of the Ball of Foot/Big Toe junction.
This therefore places the rear axle inline with, or slightly forward of the centre of the inside ankle bone.
It also requires the plate to be an NTS Plate.

This was very helpful! I really appreciate the definition and images, including the Derby riedell boot with the heel.

Please help me with this! Growing up, I saw a lot of jam skaters with vanilla boots and they had their plates flipped backwards and moved the wheels closer to the front of the boot. Why was this? Do you recommend that?

so for the avenger plate we should size up 2 sizes to get a standard mount?

So a sport mount would be good if i want good response on things like edging and curving right? Just want to confirm before i purchase
