  • Wyze Cam RTSP 2019 - View It On Your Computer
    So when Wyze pushed their new update it was filled with a bunch of great things, but the most important update feature was the #RTSP ability. But its not as easy as we thought. So I'm going to show you exactly how to do it and how you can view it on your computer as well as on your Google Home Hub or any of the Google Assistant displays, including your Chromecast.
    VLC Player: www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html
    Step by Step Guide:
    How to install the RTSP Firmware: bit.ly/2EtCcjl
    Download the Wyze Cam v2 RTSP file, or the Wyze Cam Pan RTSP file
    Unzip the file, rename the contents to 'demo.bin', and transfer them to a microSD card's root directory
    Unplug your Wyze Cam and insert the prepared microSD card
    Hold the camera's Setup button while plugging in the USB cable and continue to hold the Setup button until the light turns solid blue
    Once the light is solid blue, release the Setup button and wait for 3-4 minutes. The camera will reboot and the status light will change during this time.
    Note: The "Solid Blue" in this case is not the same as the one normally seen on the camera. Instead, both the blue and yellow LEDs will be on at once, making it appear to be a lighter blue.
    Once this process is finished, you should see the Wyze Cam in your Home tab without going through the setup process as long as it was previously paired with your account.
    How to start using RTSP:
    Once your Wyze Cam is back online, you can access the RTSP function from the live stream (Wyze app version 2.3 or later) under Settings - Advanced Settings - RTSP
    The app will automatically check if the installed firmware version is RTSP compatible. If not, please repeat the installation process above.
    Next, turn on the RTSP toggle
    You'll be prompted to set up a username and password for this Wyze Cam. Both the username and password should be 4 - 10 characters without special characters (only a-z, and 0-9)
    PLEASE NOTE - This username and password is unique to just this camera. Please either use something that's easy to remember or take note of them somewhere, as these will be needed to access the camera's stream via RTSP
    Click “Generate URL”, and the RTSP URL will show on the next screen. Use this for streaming through any RTSP compatible player on the same local network as the Wyze Cam.

      @@GrossTechnology 16 Channel XVR DVR. Unfortunately the RTSP turns off in the camera after a few days, so it loses connection to the recorder. I suggest adding a reservation on your dhcp so stays with the same IP. I had to bring the old Firmware because the RTSP firmware is rarely updated. and it doesn't get the new features from the original firmware.

I have been waiting for a Windows OS program to be written and I am not good enough to write one myself so, since my current investments in my 'working'" home automation system is something I really am reluctant to abandon; I have been slow to even think about trying to incorporate any WYZE products. • @GrossTechnology
      @GrossTechnology  Před 4 lety +1

      Oh! Yeah, things have changed a bit. Still using the same Zoom recorder for audio, but now using a lavalier mic hooked up to it. As far as the video, I am actually now shooting on my iPhoneXR, hence why its now done in 4K. I just had too many issues with focus and setup with the DSLR. If I had it set and never moved it, might be better, or if I had a more updated and newer DSLR that I could use my phone to check focus I might have kept using it, but I went through too many recording sessions that when I imported it into Adobe, found it was fuzzy or way out of focus. SO I said enough with that.

      If you have am extra phone you can do it pretty easily. Just download the app on that device and log in. Then simply screen share live on CZcams . Just make the stream unlisted/private so only you can view. You can then access it from what ever device you wish. Just make sure the device you're streaming from is plugged into a power source.

      I've never added the cameras/ set them up with blue stacks. Have you tried to set them up using your phone, then once they are set up, use blue stacks? I only have used blue stacks for viewing what has already been set up. Could be an issue being on different networks, or just the fact that it is an emulator and not the real thing. But not really sure there.

    I've got RTSP flashed on the v3, and it's streaming on VLC, so that's done. What I'm trying to do is have the cam events go to, and be recorded by VLC, so that I don't have to continually remove/reinstall the mSD card. I'm looking to set the camera to record the events to the card, which should result in 1min increments for as long as there is motion detected, being sent to and recorded on the computer, and footage perpetually written over on the mSD card. Is there a way to set up VLC to do that? Or is there a simpler way to achieve?

    • @GrossTechnology
      @GrossTechnology  Před 2 lety

      Unfortunately, I don’t believe VLC will be able to do that at all. You’ll need to have a dvr type of software that you can record it all on.

    NEVER got the RTSP feature to appear / manifest on the app. My Wyze cam never gets to the "solid" light blue that is described in the installation process - goes straight to yellow & then blinking yellow, saying "ready to connect!" So stupid.

    • @GrossTechnology
      @GrossTechnology  Před 5 lety

      You have to put the RTSP firmware file on the sd card before you can install it. The firmware won’t just show up in the app as an update on its own.

      @GrossTechnology  Před 4 lety +1

      You could either have blue stacks installed on the laptop, and then view them through the app on there. Or install the RTSP firmware and view it that way. There is going to be a little lag issue after it’s been viewed for so long. Since these are WiFi and not just a physical hard wired connection your network is going to really slow down if you do this.

    Have you tested RTSP vs Bluestacks and the cloud app? Wondering about the pros/cons of each. I'm wondering if RTSP is better quality and works even when the internet goes down. So like if a burglar cuts your cable connection you could still record to a hidden drive and retrieve the data later.

    My wish is that I could use a computer and, for example, have three cameras connected and record each camera in full screen that chooses in a live recording. Would be perfect if you could run multi-camera systems with Wyze Pan Cam 2 live in one during a worship service or concert live. Is this possible?

      The Wyze cameras all connect through their app so no need for any centralized system. Just download the app and view them wherever you are. They can only be used through their app, so no you couldn’t use a computer. Just need a WiFi signal near them all and the app on your phone or tablet and you are good.

    I was getting ready to do this, and then read this (just above the download link):
    Will RTSP continue to be developed?
    We don't have the resources to keep developing two branches of firmware for Wyze Cam v2 and Wyze Cam Pan. This means that the RTSP branch will be upgraded infrequently. Using the RTSP firmware will prevent the camera from supporting any future functionality additions, such as A.I. for Human/Animal/Vehicle recognition, event video tagging, further stability improvements, and bug fixes.
    The currently available firmware is an updated beta version. This contains improvements over the prior version, but still has potential to include minor stability issues. Once we're in a position where we can confidently say that any present issues have been fixed, we'll push out a release version of the firmware.
