    Just an additional comment -- as SD cards are getting cheaper and cheaper -- the SD card needs to be formatted FAT32 for the Wyze cam to be able to use the .bin file. This may save some folks some time in flashing either custom RTSP or going back to stock firmware.

Also appreciate that you make these videos simple for those of us that have full time jobs and only do this part time and are not Home Assistant guru's (yet). Your video is much better than the one I just watched from someone else. Keep making these . :-) They are super helpful. btw, if you have any easy videos on how to add the Nest Thermostat to HA, that would be SUPER appreciated. The bad thing about RTSP is the you cannot block internet access for more privacy because the cameras become very unstable...connecting/reconnecting every few minutes because even though they are on RTSP firmware, Wyze requires them to have internet connection...why?... that's a very good question. Why internet connection when motion detection and all the bells and whistles are useless on RTSP anyway.

    HI. Great information. Thanks so much for sharing this. One question. You mention at 9:15 that the static IP can be set "in the camera setting itself". Can you elaborate on that. I have been through all the settings on my V3 and I can find the MAC and the assigned IP but no where to set a static IP. Would prefer this method if possible to assigning to the MAC on my router. My camera firmware is version 4.36.6.17.

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  Před 2 lety

      I could have sworn you could set the IP address but I guess you can't. My mistake. So you'd have to give it a DHCP reservation in your router or firewall.

    Thanks for the great RTSP video. I was able to complete setting up RTSP for my two V3s after watching this video. However, there was one problem that frustrated me: the micro SD card must be formatted to FAT32. The default is exFAT which is not compatible with RTSP for some reason. You can format the micro SD card in the Wyze app but it seems that the card is still not FAT32. My two V3s are installed outside where wifi connection is still fairly good (140 mbps/downloading, 20 mpbs/uploading), but I had to set the image quality to be 360p to have more stability. SD and HD tend to be interrupted or disconnected.

    • @MKultrapdx
      @MKultrapdx Před 2 lety +1

      Wyze cameras are getting worse and worse. They now won't save video without cam plus... You could be right next to the router and still have issues. Not to mention they force kill SD cards with updates as to prevent you from having free recordings.

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  Před 2 lety

      I'm a little worried about the new required cam plus lite as well. But on board recording is not changed whether or not you subscribe. I haven't had to change any of my SD cards on any of my cameras.

    • @MKultrapdx
      @MKultrapdx Před 2 lety +1

      @@ThisSmartHouse on board recording has a long history of issues that even the company knows about and has forum and thread posts in the thousands on the issue.
      I have used every major brand SD card and they will push updates they know will disable all ability to record. You have to force a old firmware to SD then load them one by one. That does not always fix the issue and the company is aware of that. Yet they do nothing during update development to prevent it.

    Now that they have pulled the links to the firmware, don't expect any support from Wyze. It could break your cam. (Thanks to blinqblinq.com/wyze-v3-get-rtsp/ for the link).
    *If you can't get your camera to flash or don't want to mess with that, check out the Wyze Docker Bridge: **czcams.com/video/YZVJ1yvdobE/video.html*
    *It looks like Wyze decided to pull all RTSP firmware, so this video will not help you unless you can acquire the firmware from someone who already has it. I have asked for a reason from Wyze, but so far nothing.*
