@johniwuh9316: Unfortunately, as soon as the British Invasion came along, the Everlys were considered yesterday’s news. They were pigeonholed as a 50s nostalgia act which was unfortunate. Anyone who has ever listened to some of their albums from the mid-60s and beyond and the 3 albums they released in the 80s, knows that they were definitely not a 50s nostalgia act. They didn’t have a good manager either and in later years no manager at all so there was no one pushing for them. They had an amazing song in 1984 that Paul McCartney wrote for them (“On The Wings Of A Nightingale”) and the song went nowhere. At least they got some peer recognition in the 1980s with their induction into the RRHoF and their Star on Hollywood Boulevard.

Seriously? They were great but not on the same level as the Beatles. The Beatles hit it just right with their timing. The Everly’s were a little late. Could they have been as big as the Beatles… maybe. Their creativity was not at the same level as the Beatles. Don’t get me wrong, I loved their music.

I have to say, in 2023, this is still hilarious. There are several recordings and remakes out there where this great song is given justice, but this little gem is fun and I'm glad we have both versions to enjoy.

What a riot! Ha! I’ve seen them sing this song elsewhere and always think about this particular comedy routine...brilliantly pulled off. Phil’s laugh just makes it perfect! I understand he & Terance were best of friends. Great memories made that night I would imagine. 🌼

Seems most of us enjoyed ourselves watching these two extremely handsome brothers…loved listening to their incredibly gorgeous voices and exquisite harmonies…and had a good laugh at some great dry humour from Don. Those who didn’t just prove you can’t please everyone all the time. For me, this cabaret shows Don’s versatility in particular. Loved this video, and the whole cabaret elsewhere on CZcams.

Everyone adores this song, but obviously Don and Phil enjoyed goofing around with it too. After performing for years, they likely got bored doing every song straight up, so they decided to have fun with it. They did a fair amount of “schtick” in their shows during this period which eventually landed them their TV show. They were stellar musicians and all around performers.
