The character of Mr Khan first appeared in 'Bellamy's People' and as an occasional character he was quite good, unfortunately the jokes wear rather thin when given his own show.

His accent is more like a Punjabi one than a Pathan's. Khan's don't speak like this. I huge error in selecting a character who does not draw an inch close to any Pakistani Pathan's accent.
Don't think they were showing a Pathan on the show anyways. The shows name is a spin off of another old show Citizen Kane
