    The best way to balance the advantages and disadvantages is to institute a system where petrol engines can be run either as a NA or a TC engine. While moving in clogged traffic it can run with Natural Aspiration and once Highways are hit, it can use Turbo Charge technology. Thus getting best of both the worlds.

    Turbo Petrol - the BMW + Peugeot Prince 1.6 litre Engine which is in the Mini Cooper S (R56) model, is a little gem. So is the Ford EcoBoost 1 litre engine. Cute. Strong. Powerful little things. I did love my VW/ Skoda 2 litre TDi Engine. It had tremendous lugging power. But the little baby turbo petrol engines are fun. However the snarly little Naturally Aspirated small displacement engines are great too. All they need is a bit of straight piping to make em growl more....

    CAFE regulations are less than a couple of years away. How exactly are these brilliant but tiny 3 pot 1 litre petrol mills going to meet the 30% increase in fuel efficiency norms by going turbo? It hence needs to be hybrids rather than turbos which has to be adopted. Even if not the full hybrids like Toyota's eCVT transaxle, it atleast needs to be suzuki's type of ISG mild hybrids to begin with.

    Ford is also going the NA way.

    • @GbMuthu
      @GbMuthu Před 3 lety

      Yes, this even as they had pioneered the direct injection, turbo charged petrol engine technoloy through their ecoboost series of powerplants. This engine featured electric motor driven turbo inorder to reduce lag. 3 cylinder engine imbalances were sorted by offset flywheel rather than balancers. This mill also pioneered the use of smart alternators.
      The engine to lookout for now is suzuki's 3 pot dualjet mill.

    Unlike Germans and Koreans Japanese cars are reliable... and they namely Honda Suzuki and Tayota are not making turbo petrol engines that means they are not sure of it's reliability on long run..
