Hey Ronnie, great interview....i know hes got some gear on his but just to keep things real, my series 4 has only 5k on the clock with an average fuel consumption of 15.3 L/100.. 5 days on straddie in the sand got it up to 16.8 average including towing bogged cars and jetskis out. (By the way kaymar rear tow points are definitely up to the task). Just towed my 19ft junco to north coast averaged 16 including rainbow beach run..without van. This is all with the standard 33s and a lead foot.

Jacob Bandman the reason they took the independent suspension was comfort really but also off-road. And the autos just suck in the sand dunes you can’t lower the gear or lower it fast enough and you feel like there no power with autos compared to the manual plus I remember seeing a Australian with a manual y62 once in CZcams he was filming near the beach dunes

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the intependant suspnsion off road. 95% of the off roading that is done can be done with one of these vehicles. Have a look underneath, they have a perfectly tucked drivetrain that sits level or above he chassis so they dont get hung up.

Tristen Wakeford , Not wanting to offend or be rude, but have you spent much time in a good Independent suspension modern 4wd? There are very few instances where that extra of travel is needed (unless you are after a great action shot on a 4wd photo shoot). The motor in these things is something to behold, the td4.2 is not in the same universe. I think that the biggest problem with them off road is their size.

That's a huge caravan, big tyres and lots of extra weight. Permanent four wheel drive... Lots of passengers, batteries, solar etc etc.
Compare maintenance and starting purchase price to a Landcruiser. The extra fuel cost won't even surpass it. Very underrated. If it worried you that much, get a custom tune, air intake with snorkel, custom headers to improve midrange torque, race catalytic converter (or remove it) and drive normally. Put standard diameter tyres on....

Keep your fuel filters clean, plugs fresh and vvl system working properly...

With the resale value and fuel economy I’d personally stick to an LC200. Not taking away anything from this great rig but that fuel economy figure was astonishing. I really think Nissan missed the mark with a petrol v8, if it were a turbo diesel like the land cruiser I would say that sales would be far greater.

I have a stock 2018 Y62 and get 12ltrs per 100 on long trips no van, around town 16-17 ltrs per 100, towing a 2.5t van around 20-25 sitting on 100km/h.

why are patrol owners so obsessed with landcruiser owners? they always have homoerotic stickers on their rear window dissing landcruiser and shit. I drive a landcruiser and I don't even think about patrols.

Master Ruseman because there is a large amount of arrogant fuckwit Toyota owners ruing the reputation for the rest of you good guys. Mate some of the biggest cocksuckers I’ve met on the road & tracks have been 35+yr old men with their 200s thinking they own the road.
And that’s coming from someone who likes all 4wd brands, minus Isuzu
