That’s has to have been the most in-depth reviews of common sense I’ve seen in quite some time. Great build!!!
-Pidge
yes its in depth common sense because he.s NOT,an ausie, brainwashed by tjm/arb,bullshit,.you have to have all the bling thats available.like moths to a flame...how many people you know that bought those dampers with the spring, return to centre..what absolute crap.IF,you had a brain, you would know, its a coil, you are fighting against it,both ways.advertising brainwashed idiots..you can buy a 4" lift kit,but you wont get the brake lines with it.even 2" is limit.im amazed most people on here dont watch u.s. vids for info.been doing it about 50 yrs longer.plus, any one you know put a 6.5td gm in there toyota/nissan,,BIG MISTAKE,& about 38k down the shitter,or there bank account, not yours.cant beat a 6 cyl diesel.period..there is a thing called google or wiki.or y tooob.
That was a great video and interview. You just asked the question and let the guest tell the story without interrupting. Well done and Loved it. Safe travels all 👍
What a great video! Fantastic vehicle build, and a truly epic trip with a level of planning that would make most people soil themselves. Ronnie as enthusiastic and welcoming as ever and a lovely 'twist' at the end. Worth of a re-post or something to get this older video back into the feeds of viewers that have been blinded by thinking they need a $25k canopy Ute setup to do 'big trips'
Such a personable bloke, great attitude. Great watch Ronny.
I like the fact this guy has good quality items where it counts and "lesser" quality in areas that work. Very refreshing to see that people don't have to have top of the line products and spending big bucks to go out and have fun and make memories.
Same for me 95% of the inspiration and everything learned about offroad driving/camping comes from your channel, and had a great time in WA, Thanks very much! Also another great vid mate cheers from the netherlands
This was super awesome! and not even for the patrol build!! more the fact how much you’ve (Ronny) had an impact on so many people like myself who wheel, and the 4wd networks and businesses, I especially liked this video as I would really love to 4wd “overland” as much of the world as possible. I always look forward to your videos and gain great insight and wisdom from yours and others knowledge, THANK YOU! Don’t ever stop creating content.
Hi ronny another GREAT episode. love all you work and my fav was EP 52 with shaun (cos I also have an FJ) but fabian is at another level. what a great guy, knowledgable and so down to earth. makes me envious. a great role model. love the way he is not shy to say he improvised on non essentials to save money. no big name brands in his build. just built what he needed and went for it. thanks again
For the owner: Thank you for showing us the rig and adventure.
On my 2006 gu4 i also have the swaybar disconnect on a button.
Factory dual battery setup since i live in Norway, and it is a 12v system.
Upgraded to OME heavy duty suspension, and it leans a bit in corners on stock dimension wheels(275/70/16 +10offset). But is nice and stable on 315/75/16 with a -52 offset.
For Ronny: Thank you for another episode. And can recommend Iceland, so put it high on your bucket list.
Cheers/Skål from Norway.
Hey Mag nus
I drive 315/75-16 and 10j16" -44 offset steelrims on my GR.
It look's good and drives well.
The only problem is, i can find only 2 wheels in this dimension.
Cheap Chinese Mud Race and Cooper Tires Discoverer STT.
If you now others, tell me.
Best regard from Germany
But the two are MT's that's ok.
@@janfreudenberg4248 I have Stt's for winter, siped in the center lugs, and studded on the side lugs.
And Stt pro's for summer.
Next set of tires will be from summit racing in the US. They have a good selection of 315/75/16 and some 35x12.5/16.
Great video Ronnie. Really enjoyed the detailed explanation of their gear and planning. What a lot of planning and hard work to get it all sorted for so many places, but what a payoff with all that time cruising about. Alos reinforces how much these videos (yours and others) help people to sort out their ideas about gear, places and attitude. Great stuff. Thanks for long version. I could have watched for way longer. Cheers PP
This is the best modified episode! Awesome done video, fantastic guest and a great car which is well thought through.
Awesome vehicle & great to see a true global overland build done by a normal person to a budget. Was awesome to hear the weight mentioned as Patrols are paticularly useless when it comes to payload when you start bolting steel bits to them.
Have an awesome journey guys!! I'll be building a vehicle next year to overland full time starting with driving from Oz to the UK so am inspired by guys like yourself 👍
They're all pretty useles tbh, if you do steel front & back, throw on a couple of long range tanks, roofrack & drawers you'll be almost over GVM on most 4wd passenger vehicles before even putting a driver in. I currently own a Patrol & know how hard it is to go on a big trip under GVM to the point I wouldn't use it as a global overland vehicle. With the GVM upgrade talked about in the video it's a bit easier & is a good point to highlight
Excellent episode Ronny, thanks to you and Fabian. And interesting point about EGR.
Got to be up there with one of the best modifided so far. Jealous of these two, hope they have awesome adventure
The nice thing about your CZcams Channel is that you always have nice people to visit. I think that's because you're a nice guy yourself. Many other CZcams in the offroad and Overland area always consider themselves "the King of Offroad" and are very arogant. It's not you, so stay the way you are.
Very refreshing video. Definitely on the bucket list to do a world expedition in the old girl.
Hi Ronny , Thanks mate for introducing Fabian and Carolin people with such a great spirit ,and for sharing very useful ideas with traveling ,vehicle setup & the best if dreamed about doing it do it . CHEERS
My parents gave me a similar gas cooker, the thing is ancient but still works a treat
As a belgian it's cool to see another european build on the channel, great stuff!
Best clip yet Ronny. What a nice guy, all the best for your future travels mate.
We love that guy and his truck ,thanks.
Great video Ronny!👍
Very in depth of things!
Keep up the good work you're doing!
great adventure, great interview, good luck with your travels.
Gransfors Bruks axe and Coleman dual fuel stove. Two cool bits of gear, among all the other awesome mods. Great video, and best of luck on your World expedition, guys.!
Great video. Great bloke thanks for sharing your build!
The best modified video so far imo. Well done Ronny!
Having a similar dream of driving around the world (and being a fellow German), I got some great ideas from this!
... glad Fabian and Carolin popped into see us in Kathmandu. Great truck and great people 🙌🏽#DriveTheHimalayas
Your not the only one that "in darkness we find camp" ahahahaha
Great build! My swedish 1999 2.8 also got the sway bar disconnect as standard. I have the same coleman stove and it's fantastic!
What an awesome world adventurer set up, well thought out. 👍🏻
Fantastic walk around and I wish them a safe journey to Germany, it's good to hear about the visas and requirements too!
This is so awesome, so much respect for you guys!
What an absolute legend!
Sehr cool. Euch eine gute Reise durch Asien und immer eine Hand breit Luft unterm diff.
Awesome modified, Fabian is a real adventurer. Good on you mate.
Great video, guy comes across as cool as, no wank factor. One of your better ones Ronny.
Great episode Ronny!
Great video and amazing to see. Thanks Ronny
4 months and he pretty much looks Aussie
Accents changeing with some words he says can hear it even on the chooks hhaha
What a legend and a very well set up GU well done 👍
Great episode. Cook top grill powered by unleaded a highlight. Extremely well thought out build.
Same here, this youtube channel "The Daily GQ" is heavily inspired by you sir. As well as my passion in overlanding and camping! Hope to travel there and see you in person asweel! All the love all the from the Philippines! More power to you sir!
Really enjoyed this, what an adventure! Could only imagine how much research they had to do for this trip for visas, local rules, what path to take, etc. Best of luck Fabian. Following on insta.
The sway disconnect part is a standard feature depending on the level. I have a 3.0 from 2008 as well and it has that.
ZD30 Power! I can't believe it's capable for world trip
Love Patrols!❤️
Great video, one of the best yet
Sway bar disconnect is a common factory extra but Australia only got the cheap models. I had a couple of 1990 Y60(GQ)'s with this. They were ex japan and 24v, tail lights that actually worked!
Yeah my dad's old gq had it, think it was an 89 or a 90
Awesome and inspiring!.
Hi Ronny in Portugal Y61 Rear sway bar electrical disconection comes standard. Also rear diff lock. Great videos!
Chears! Bruno
So happy to see FyrLyt on there.. Definitely one of the best lights on the market, and cheaper than most other lights.
Have a set on mine, awesome.
very interesting modified Ronny ,very well set up GU
Epic Video! Keep um coming Ronny!
love the channel mate keep up the good work
Great man, Car and adventure...
awesome vid, nice touch at the end.
Nice video, thanks for sharing 👍
Awesome video, as always.
heeey! Love that rear bar! Made in my home land :-D
Awesome video! I know the feeling he was stating. Learned so much after watching your channel on camping and off roading!
wow... this bloke could have a HUGE you-tube channel with that kind of adventure... Is he making a video of all of his journey? i would love to see it from beginning to end. Most people may not realize but that is a huge undertaking!!
Ab brilliant fantastic great vid good luck on your world travel very inspirational and a amazing set up well thought out as the Germans do
I have 2 Nissan patrol GU/y61.
And both of them have the switchable rear swaybar link.
Both of them are rusted stuck though.
When it works, it should give u around 5 cm of freeplay in the swaybar link, shown in the video.
Also, one of my patrols are equipped with a "Cold" button.
And when pressed it raises the RPM.
so awesome!!!
2 years old but still holds up. Good Video. Human Interest Story. We can all still relate. you should make more adventurer based content. but with C-19 .. i know Aussie Government is a bit.... how do i say without being offensive..... you get the point... Adventure Based ... Adventure Always...
Hey ronny, great video, I dont know why, but I really enjoyed this build. I like the diy attitude this guy has. I've been collecting parts for my future trip, but still debating on a p25w delica or a first gen montero.
Coolness
My 88 gq has a factory sway bar disconnect. I'm pretty sure some GUs came with then too.
My 89 GQ has the same thing. it works like and is located exactly where the hilux handbrake is. you pull it out to disengage then twist and release the handle to connect again.
Works well with a 2 innch lift but might to modify it for a 3
The disconnect for the anti roll bar is org Nissan and it is mounted I all the SE models in Europe along with the vacum rear diff luck.
If im not wrong, the rear bumper is made I Poland and can also hold a hi-lift behind the spare tyre.
Zum Wohl aus dem Badnerland 🥂
It was actually just a 150w converter, because they use it on the cigarette outlet. Still sufficient. Your phone only needs 10-25w.
GREAT NISSAN.
There's an idea for ya Ronny; an Iceland trip haha. It's bloody brilliant up there hey
My uncle slid off a gravel road in his at the time brand new patrol. Rolled like twelve times after it went off the edge. He said it honestly felt like a failure in the ABS....
That’s the most Aussie German I’ve ever seen,
THANK YOU SPECIAL DETAIL VIDEO AS GREAT WATCHING AS JOY SPECIAL VIDEO THIS TIME.
WISH BEST TRAVEL YOUNG PAIR WITH DREAM TRAVEL ROUND WORLD IN 4X4.
Solid
Wow 😱
At least the flies weren't to bad.
Good on him for travelling before Covid hit!!
Hi, just for correction. Rear bumper and spare wheel carrier are 100% polish made. One and only producer is FABRYKA 4X4. Link for this item: www.fabryka4x4.pl/produkt?id=58/ZDERZAK%20TY%C5%81%20NISSAN%20PATROL%20GU4 . Best Regards! PS. Excellent car - great job!
Nissan Patrol is an amazing off road, I used to have one but unfortunately here in States we don’t have
These things are so awesome! I wish we got these here in the US
Way way better with the td42 turbo diesel 6 cylinder like mine
I believe they wouldn't meet US California smog rules for emissions, were not so strict here in Australia, 50% of modified Aussie rigs run straight they 3" exhausts with no cats or mufflers if it's turbo diesel
@@adelaidetechtrader Sounds about right, California tries to make things less fun...
There is a petrol version of the Patrol, 4.8 i think.
@@adelaidetechtrader typical 4.2 owner xD 3L are just as good if not better #busmotor
My grandpappy used to say "you buy a Patrol when you can't afford a Land Cruiser".
I think that the sawybar disconect system was stock in all y61 as the rear locker.
The original Cayenne also had front anti-roll disconnect if optioned from the factory.
Rear anti roll bar disconnect and rear diff lock was standard on all European patrols after the 2.8 was phased out I believe
yes,we get the crap in this country.
The stabilator disconnects come factory in Europe with the newer gr2’s (gu4)
BLOODY FLIES !!!!!😁😁😁
We have the switchable sway bar/anti roll bar in the UK
Crikey ... 2 passports., and We complain about not being able to get through border closures in Aus , lol
Granfors looks very similar to Hultafors but the level of finishing it way above. They come with a hair shaving sharp edge and mirrored. I haven't really noticed any significant difference in chopping etc. Plenty of videos on youtube comparing and nothing that different.
Its basically just a hultafors with more attention to detail and finishing.
The GQ patrols had the sway bar release.
Great video as always. Would have been nice to see how the third seat was put in.
@Simon Cush, 3rd seat is factory, rear seats in these are split 60/40, so they've removed the middle seat and drivers side rear, and left the passenger side rear in buddy
@@adelaidetechtrader Cheer for that. I'm always thinking of removing my rear seat (15kg of unused weight and taking up valuable space), but would like to keep a single in just in case.
Interesting that the sway bar disconnects in the back. I wouldn’t have thought to put it there.
Second
27 Hertz CB... ? I've only heard of 27 Mhz, you must have something very special
55:27 Best 4WD Tip ever!
What a great person, the German's or Dutch are always so inventive and confident in what they do...
Great interview Ronny, could have watched for hours
Would have been nice to hear from his partner and her thoughts on full time living out of the 4WD.
Epic mission they are on, good on them for making it happen.
In Europe where he's from and in China I believe they use 27mhz, can't use our stuff over there. Same with slot of factory Japanese stereos, their FM range is way different to ours 😎
🤪
European here, can confirm only 27mhz allowed. The alternative designation for a CB radio is 27mc radio ;)
I am very aware of 27Mhz CB, used it for years in AU
But he says 27 Hertz, a very very low freq... Maybe just a poor abbreviation
Most people just say 27 Meg (which is still used for Marine VHF)
@@mountainconstructions 27 hertz sounds subwoofer levels, agreed, maybe just poor abbreviation 👌
The moment when you are from Germany 🇩🇪
Das ist zehr gut
The moment when you are from Munich as well.
The moment when know one gives a fuck!
And the moment when he drives the car that you want in australia, too.
@@philippk.9275 these are common in Australia and we also get the 4.2 lt diesel. They are just as common as landcruisers
Might be interesting to see how they deal with leaks in monsoon areas.
I'm so jealous, wish we had small diesel here. About to buy an engine and swap my pathfinder to a diesel.
