You obviously don’t get off road much then. Also just because they are used for school runs doesn’t mean they don’t have a 3.5T van hanging off them on weekends or holidays. Mine is my every day drive as well, but gets used for towing and off road

A few of the Mums at our local school drive these. They will go up and down gutters and over roundabouts time and time again, without anything letting go. The acceleration and speed of these things is without par... at 8.55 am. The same at 3.15 pm. Fuel use isn't a consideration when you have a company credit card and you work in accounts part time.
The ride quality is comfortable enough to ensure that you won't spill the Gin & Tonic that you have in your "water bottle". Visibility is somewhat of a problem with these machines, with many mums being unable to visually detect anything outside of the cabin other than other mums in Range Rovers, a.k.a. "Bitches", however the three generously proportioned rear view mirrors are ideal for applying lipstick and mascara and touching up one's hair.
There are some electrical gremlins. Many mums find the infotainment system difficult to negotiate and a forced to drive around with their 'phone stuck to one ear. This isn't an issue as they can multitask, but it might be worth considering if your male and purchasing one of these.
There's also a particular electrical fault that you should be aware of. Indicators suffer from frequent malfunctions. They often don't work in urban environments, but at highway speeds they never seem to work at all. This is why you often see these vehicles stuck in the right lane, doing 105kmh, as they are unable to safely return to the left lane.
There have been a lot of reports of whining in the rear seats but this is an easy fix. Just have another swig of water. The cargo bay is quite large, but not as large as something like a Kia Carnival. Coles deliver and the kids can get a ride to sports with their friends or stay home. The Patrol comes equipped with plenty of hiding spots for prescription medications if you're the sort of person that doesn't want to be left short should one of the kids be in detention, again. Hope this helps if anyone is considering one of these.

      They’re hardly even a popular ‘mum’s taxi’.
This would have been more appropriate for an Audi Q or BMW X car, or the Range Rover you mentioned.
I don’t think even Nissan would expect the customer for Patrol to be a woman. This is a blokes car. Just like a Land Cruiser.

A couple of incorrect things, the Ti series 5 21 upwards has all the same safety gear as the Til, cross traffic alert etc. the radar cruise control is also standard in the 21 upwards. The viscous fan is covered under warranty if it plays up while under warranty (5 years) Under 12 litres per 100 is 100% achievable on a stock standard patrol on the freeway cycle. Cv problems is generally on some thing running 35’s and copping a hard time. I haven’t heard of any troubles with the central locking or windows, but yes the rear tail gate soft close can play up but it fixed in 2 minutes by resetting it by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes. The standard Ti stereo works fine and the sound isn’t too bad, the Bose in the Til has now been discontinued in the upgraded head unit, so has the 360 cameras in both the Ti and til, stupid move by Nissan. They have now put the centre fridge in the Ti range which is a bonus and work extremely well. They are actually easy to park due to the good visibility from the drivers seat. Value for money they are still great compared to a gx 300 series with rubber flooring for over 100k. You can pick up a Ti 24 spec for still low to mid 80’s.

I’ve owned both, the patrol is a better car to live with over all. It’s bigger in every way yet drives smaller with much lighter steering it’s easier to drive and park. You don’t have to use “premium” fuel this is just recommended for best performance. It will drive all day every day on 91ron. They may be “popular” now but they weren’t always and you could pick them up much cheaper than they are going for now, if you got one pre Covid you can probably sell it still for about what you paid for it.

While working at a Nissan dealership on the gold coast 2 years ago, I was tasked to drive this car around the corner to get it washed, I had no clue about a thing about these patrols. Don't like Nissan's, and thought this was just another diesel 4 or 6 cylinder ugly piece of shit, right up until I pressed the start button and was greeted with the sound of a V8 supercar. The level of suprise, dare I say, euphoria I experienced hearing the motor for the first time is something I still Gish over till this day, clearly. The way it leans back when you plant the throttle is hilarious too đŸ€Ł. Don't like the interior, not a fan of the early exteriors, but I would totally spend the money for one if I needed a big fourbie for the engine alone đŸ€Ł.

VK56 has been around in one way or another for 20 yrs. Extremely durable. Many sold and covered mega mileages in the US in Nissan Titans and Armadas. Never heard of the timing chain issues, you should put numbers on it. have their been 10 cases, 100 or a 1000? Sounds like there are far more problems with the 200 series listening to your review. Why are they so expensive? Makes no sense.

@@Stevegrande1 and that’s the point a lot of people miss. The massive price differences pay for a lot of fuel. The shrinking engine size on the LC is weakening it in the heavy tow market and the price rise starts to put it near big US monster utes that don’t need GVM upgrades.

@Stevegrande1 the twin turbo V6 has 50hp over the outgoing V8, but it's pulling a (potentially) heavier vehicle, so I don't think the power increase will be significantly noticeable over the V8.
