- Casey ( / putsch1 ) worked out a deal to buy a 1957 Chevrolet Corvette and did the best thing you possibly could with it - he took an epic road trip around America.

Epic reply
Casey, I hope one day I get to meet you and do a road trip with you because your energy is awesome. I've been wanting to do the Trans-America Trail in my Jeep, it's not the fastest way across the country but it sure looks fun. Another trip I want to do is go around the country to all of amazing geological wonders, ancient sites and things like Cadillac row, the largest frying pan or the largest rubber band ball, all the things around the country that gives America its uniqueness.
Love your videos man.
huge inspiration
You're right, there isn't much here in Midland but oil and gas. I grew up seeing those Chaparral race cars in that museum. That sounded like a hell of a roadtrip though.
@@Gonzo.S.Thompson I like how what makes America unique is its world's largest frying pans

Dos equis just found their new "most interesting man in the world". Your stories never disappoint. Thanks
Only dude I’ve seen that eclipses Ed I’m sorry telling.
I love this guy's view on life, it's so refreshing.
This is why the US is at the No.1 spot of my holiday/travel bucket list.
Kind regards from Amsterdam
Save your money and go somewhere that is interesting not here. The country that your thinking of is and has been long gone.
@@jasonterry5512 Then you obviously do not understand what I am talking about. And you obviously do not know what I am "thinking of". Because the "This" in my initial statement, is of course the beautiful scenery and natural landscapes of the United States, like you see in the video above. That is what you enjoy the most on a road trip like in the video, right, driving through beautiful landscapes? Anyhow, I was talking about United States' natural landscapes and national parks. Which seemed pretty obvious to me me, but hey, I am not a native speaker. Nonetheless, I do not think Yellowstone, Yosemite, Glacier, Grand Canyon, Grand Teton, Zion, Arches, Rocky Mountains, Bryce Canyon, Olympic National park, etcetera, etcetera, have "been long gone". Further I do not even know what to "think of" because I have never seen them. But common sense makes me think that the Grand Canyon still looks the same like fifty years ago, when I wasn't even born yet. Yeah yeah, my own Amsterdam was so much cooler twenty years ago too, I know. Now more Big Brother government regulations, less freedom, less coffeeshops, less prostitutes and ten times more retarded tourists who walk in the middle of the road as if they are in Disneyland instead of the capital's traffic. Plenty of friends of mine have stand on the Twin Towers and I unfortunately will never. Shit happens. Things change. I know the US looks like a Big Brother tyranny in some places and like a retarded religious and/or poor third world country with broken roads and bridges in others, if that is where you were hinting on. But that is inherent to a democracy and does not have any effect on me wanting to visit it, nor does it stop me from thinking that the United States is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Further, what is "interesting" is very, very subjective. Anyone with a bit of interest in the world or the world's history has got to be interested in the United States. Anyone with a bit of lust for natural sceneries and traveling has got to be interested in visiting the United States. And as a Dutch citizen who lives in Amsterdam, capital of the Netherlands, one of the most Anglo-Saxon minded countries of Europe, if not the most and one of the best non-native English speaking countries of Europe, if not the best, naturally I find the United States one of the most "interesting" places on the globe to be honest. The US shaped the 20th century. And if it wasn't for the US, maybe I would have speak German. Or otherwise, perhaps _New Amsterdam_ does ring a bell? To just name drop some "interesting" facts.
Kind (libertarian) regards from Amsterdam
PS beyonddemocracy.net
@@JDYTC Good point and well noted. And from your mentioning of New Amsterdam would indicate you are an educated man. The link you added to your reply is a good read and there are a lot of truths there. Now for my country yes there are some great majestic sights and breathtaking views but all of that is in one are in which he was driving.
I know that other people that I know that have visited us from Europe are always agape at the vast open spaces of the US. They don’t fully comprehend that you have to keep your vehicle full of gas at every stop in some parts of the country (the American West for sure) because you can drive in almost every direction and see nobody and run dry before you find more fuel. And outside of major cities, much of the western US isn’t far from life in the 1700’s.
@@jasonterry5512 give me a break. You know nothing about your own country. If you're even an American that is.
All the spaces worth seeing in this country aren't in one area. The National parks alone are worth visiting and they're all over and that's just the start
I’m watching this while pooping at work
Enjoy both sir. :)
Casey; you just pulled a spit-take in WI from OH. 😆
GoofyLeo3 YAAASSSS!!

I want to take this unique opportunity of being here so early to say, WE NEED A VINWIKI Podcast please! With a 1 and a half hour commute, I want to listen to these stories, but watching CZcams videos while driving doesn’t seem like a great idea. Please VINWIKI make it happen! At the very least just reupload just the sound to the iTunes Podcast app, and maybe down the road a traditional podcast format would be phenomenal!
Turn on autoplay?
I have my phone running through my vehicle stereo, and I listen to these as I drive to and from work. Don’t get to see pictures, but that gives me good reason to watch them again later.

Always make sure to enjoy the journey! Huge plus of being a trucker although I can't get into a lot of places so car rentals are a must. Also would like to commend the comment section on these VinWiki videos, the most positive comment section on CZcams!
Def differs from my first night in my first Corvette. Casey goes on a field trip I used mine as part of my “A” game to pick up chicks..... Great Story Casey!!!
Cheers man!
Rob Pitts, that sounds like a story we need to hear, lol!
@@richardmaggs3430 Yes definitely, Rob Pitts first night in a Corvette xD
My first night in a Corvette was at the bar of Pikes Peak. I had an RX-7 that the transmission broke. I was 19 and broke and the salvage yards were closed in Colorado Springs (7 pm). My half brother was working at the Hamburger Stand on Nevada Ave and somehow I convinced him to let me drive around in his Moms Corvette that he had driven to work. I drove it up and down the cruise strip all night and enjoyed my time thoroughly. Next day I fix the RX-7 and it’s now Saturday night, so we are trying to pick up girls. And we find these girls that won’t talk to us, and they are mad at us. But we don’t know them.
We ask why they are upset at us and they reply “We tried all night last night to get your attention, but you wouldn’t even look at us!”
Sorry ladies. I had a one night stand with a red Corvette. Didn’t have time for females last night.
Guess that makes me a car guy.
As a New Mexican I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
This guy was talking about a subject one day on one of these videos that I was interested in, so I tracked down his email and he actually took the time to write me back.
For a rich dude, he is just the nicest ever.
Great story. I’m glad you were carrying the Walther when you hiked to the hot springs. The observatory trip was amazing. I have been a long time amateur astronomer. My son and I visited Pikes Peak and the winds are incredible. Fantastic.

Awesome....I have great memories as a child, of my Dad taking me in his 57 Vette to do donuts in an iced over abandoned parking lot, driving a snowy road to bring home a Christmas tree that we cut ourselves in it, and riding on the transmission tunnel between him and my mother on trips. I still own, enjoy and love vintage corvettes and try to drive mine often.
Road tripping that corvette looks so freaking fun
Now that was worth the watch. I think people forget the meaning of vehicle, but it seems he hasn't.

john andrews cheers!
This is a good story! Stories like this are hardly ever told because people hardly ever get in their cars and just drive looking for whatever comes their way. This reminds me of when I was a kid and how my parents would take us exploring places we never knew existed and they would keep driving until It got dark. And then we would go home. I encourage anyone who sees a road that they’ve never been on before to drive down that road and see where it leads.
This is, by far, the best Corvette story I have ever heard. And it was driven by "the" Corvette. Well done.
Best gift to wake up to!
**Casey points** "... but I brought tools!" Almost made coffee come out my nose.
We may die, but I GOT this! :D
@@CaseyPutsch I did a summer trip with my son out west in 2007. 10,700 miles in 82 days. No plan, no map, just zig-zagging across the western U.S. to see whatever we wanted to see. Your story brought back a flood of memories. Of course we were in a brand new Suburban, not an antique Corvette, and it wasn't winter. :)

Wow a Corvette and a Walther PPK. You, Sir, are living the James Bond lifestyle
I took my first trip from Tulsa to Las Vegas in mid July and decided to come back taking I-70 through Utah, Colorado, and Kansas. I took it on a motorcycle, wearing a windbreaker and a pair of light gloves. It still got down in the 30's overnight in the Rockies in Colorado! Utah was beautiful, but Kansas? That can be summed up in three words: straight, flat, wheat. The trip to Vegas and the trip home were the best parts of the trip.
Most often the journey is more important than the destination.
Great story Casey and great advise, get out and go!
It wasn't until I was old enough to go myself that I discovered amazing historical and beautiful places to visit 30 mins, 1 hour, 3 hours away from where I had grown up, and yet no one in my family or friends have ever heard of or visited these places. Before you travel the world or travel the country have a look around you you might be supersize of what you find and it could save you a ton of money on your next vacation.
