i know they're just doing their job but tow truck drivers are a special breed of individual who has no effs to give when it comes to the hardship of others. i personally feel that if towing someone's vehicle for non payment or illegal parking is legal in the eyes of the law then a LE officer should be present during the tow. that would help prevent 99% of all hostile interactions with tow truck drivers.

The saddest thing is that when people become angry at tow truck operators, customer service agents, fast food workers, or other service-related folks... they're taking out their anger (or v10lence!!) on the wrong people. It's like blaming a delivery company for a product that has malfunctioned; they DELIVERED it, they didn't BUILD it. :/ Same goes for the tow truck driver; they're fulfilling a request from the city, not targeting any specific driver or vehicle owner.

There has been a big problem with cars being towed and somehow no one knows where they are. With that being the case when the city has a car towed they should have police in the area so that people know that it's legit.

i used to work overnights and would see this all the time at 2-3-4am as far as tow trucks out on the streets and blocks . People need to pay they bills, or get on a payment plan or something.

And that drug possession example does not help your case because these are 2 separate branches of laws you’re trying to intertwine to prove a point. A more relevant example is you’re driving a friend’s car alone, get pulled over, and the cops find your friend’s drugs in the car. Even if they really are your friend’s drugs and you didn’t know they were there, YOU are getting arrested because YOU are currently in possession of the vehicle with illegal drugs inside, not your friend but that doesn’t negate the fact that your friend owns the damn car. The bank would never be liable for illegal drugs in your car because they aren’t present in the car when the illegal drugs were found, but that has nothing to do with them owning the car.
All he had to do was ask him not to take it,if people would learn the the law,once you ask and they tow it anyway,it's breach of peace,sue the tow company and city,lender. May sound far fetched but it works,the arrogance of some of these tow drivers mixed with someone pissed about a car being towed is a recipe for disaster.

I'm glad I'm no longer a Chicago tow truck driver. I've even done tow calls into Cabrini Green ( back in the 90's ), but I'd always get a Chicago Police escort. ;) I've done many tow jobs, for several Police Depts., County Sheriff's Office, a certain Govt. Agency ( which will remain un-named ), and I even worked for a certain sub-urban Police Dept. at night ( carrying a police radio & I had a Police Call # assigned to me ) all the while working the streets of Chicago & a near by Suburb that was turning into the wild, wild west, from shootings, car- jackings, and criminal car fires. Just glad I survived the streets. Amen!

My car was illegally towed before, and it ruined me. It was my first car, 100 percent mine, fully legal. I had it for two months. I just moved into my first home and had my first job. I had no idea where my car was when I woke up. It was stolen by a predatory towing company. It was there for days before I found it, costing nearly two grand to get it out. Making pizza for a living, I couldn't afford to get it out. The lady at the tow yard was pure evil. So do I feel sorry for the tow truck driver? Nah. Find a different job.

Normally a tow truck driver will back off of the tow if the other person has a firearm and they will call the police for assistance, but this tow truck driver had a firearm himself, and he felt like he could handle the situation. I understand you have a job to do, but it’s not worth your life.

9.9 out of 10 of these cars have dark tints, rims and loud sound systems. They weave in and out of traffic, tailgate, run red lights and stop signs, stop in the middle of the street to talk to people/look at girls, park illegally, etc. They people driving these cars act like they own the world because they have guns in the car and the gun makes them bold. Eventually, they wind up in the morgue or seriously injured, paralyzed or some other way humbled.
