We have flown with TUI several times, brilliant airline and the crew always are friendly and provide great service! I like to buy the model aircraft of the aircraft I have been on! Thank you for another great video, I really enjoy watching your trip reports! I love the look of the Dreamliner and the fact the cabin altitude is much lower than non-composite aircraft (6000ft on the Dreamliner compared to 8000ft on conventional design aircraft) so there is more oxygen and less jetlag! (I am a big aviation fan in case you couldn't guess!)

      @mjt8199 Před 5 lety +1

It is very good value for a seat upgrade and I can probably see why they'd offer it on short-haul flights. It's an area of the 787 that would otherwise sit empty on an all-economy flight. Offer an upgrade and some will bit and pay leaving more economy seats to be filled (as we know airlines overbook flights). This little sweetener helps fill the plane right up.

I have flown with Thomson but it was a horrendous experience, we were on a sunwing plane to Tenerife, operated by thomson, a few years ago due to a technical fault on the plane we couldn't take off so we waited around 3-4 hours on the plane only to be told we couldn't fly.
We stayed in the airport terminal for several more hours until we were finally told the plane wouldn't be taking off that day, so we had to come back the next day. The next day was much of the same thing as they couldn't find a plane, eventually 24 hours later they found a plane to take us to Tenerife.
Despite the huge delay Thomson completely refused to give out compensation as it was a mechanical fault that was not on their plane, which meant, for sone reason, they were not obliged to give us compensation. After many months of refusal to give out compensation they eventually gave in and refunded us the full amount of the flight.
The customer service was absolutely terrible throughout and we now only fly easyJet or Jet2 on these type of flights.

We frequently book with TUI, and I'm always pleased if we get the Dreamliner. We always go for premium for that extra bit of comfort. The 787 is a great aircraft, and the only one I've been able to get any sleep on! On two separate flights to Greece, TUI had outsourced the flights to airlines I'd never heard of, on much smaller planes (usually A320's) But, we've been lucky and got the Dreamliner to Italy, Cape Verde and our third trip to Greece. Happy days! As for TUI, as a tour operator, I have no complaints. They are easy to book with and always very helpful, especially the reps at the hotels.

I've flown TUI several times as I've been on plenty of their package holidays (mostly when it was known as Thomson). I've flown Tui on many occasions: out to Austria; down to Cape Verde; and to Mexico and the Caribbean. They're not quite up to BA's standard but, on the longer flights, Tui Premium is a far better option than BA Economy. Tui's reps in-resort always seem to have some upgrades for sale the day before departure. When having to decide between Tui, Virgin and BA packages, the cost of the transfer (airport to resort) needs to be considered. With Tui, the transfer is, I think, always included.

£10 upgrade is fantastic value and i guess a good trick is too get one of the double seats as, as you said, the bulk of the passengers will be on a package holiday and as such will be travelling as a couple or a family. So very few single people so chance of one wanting to upgrade is quite worked slim. Not that you really need an empty seat next to you in premium economy.

    nice review as usual Paul!
Sad they don't offer free drinks and meals on such a long European flight anymore... Sadly the same is true for many airlines - surprisingly including Condor based in Germany (on European flights)...

Well, I don't need their microwave meals necessarily, but at least free water would be nice on such longer flights, and would cost them almost nothing.

I’ve flown with TUI several times on both medium haul and transatlantic long haul and have always been impressed. My last flights with them were LGW-HRG-LGW, which was rather pleasant even in the all-economy 737-800.
I’m flying to Naples in July on a school residential and I’m really hoping that we fly with TUI instead of Ryanair or easyJet.

They don't sell the model aircraft on short haul which is a shame.

6:15 I agree. The American TV programme, The Big Bang Theory was fine in its infancy, but is now a highly over-rated, laugh-track dependent waste of time. Your flight on the other hand looked like a treat. Cheers, and happy future travels!

My first ever flight was with TUIfly out of Munich to Fuerteventura and back to visit my sister. Their coffee was decent, the Sky Interior in the almost brand new 737-800 created a beautiful atmosphere in the cabin, very friendly cabin staff - I was very happy with the flight, both flights left the gate very punctual, the cabin was clean, the pilots cheerful and provided info of our whereabouts and the weather (which was neat because there was no map on the monitors in the aisle ....) - and I found the seats very comfortable (Economy), although I am not the smallest person and the flight was 4 hours. I can definitely recommend them - well, at least the German branch.

Just for info, not all the TUI 787's have a premium area. Some of them have All Economy with a small area at the front with extra legroom. But they are still in a 3-3-3 config.
They use them for main destinations, like Palma, Malaga, Alicante etc. I flew on a TUI 787 in Sept from Manchester and it was a 3-3-3 config to Mahon, Menorca. Still had TV and seats were really comfy.
Took them 30 Mins at Mahon to get the stairs aligned with the door, as all the jet bridges were in use, so parked on a remote stand. The crew were in fits of laughter watching them and the first officer offered to do it himself, lol The Engines are Huge!

Clown with TUI 2x in Premium to Mexico, once I was downgrade on the way up. Who downgrade their customers and then just pays back the difference in fare, but I received a 3 row for myself. Back to the Premium, I did only pay about 90€ (80£) one way for it. At this price its worth it for a 10hr flight. You get 2 meals, drinks (also alcoholic), snacks and amenity kit are complimentary. After a couple of hours the seat start to hurts and the recline isn't the best, but you arrive fresh on destination. This upgrade also comes (with TUI NL) with lounges acces, separate check-in and fast lane at security on Schiphol. Like said for the price its realy worth it! BUT on all good stories comes an end, the changes the prices recent to almost fix 300€ extra one way, so that was the last time I flex Premium on TUI :)

Subscribed after watching your Norwegian flight from the USA to Edinburgh, did you book with Norwegian. Loved how you took the (worst) seats in Economy , unlike Dan or Sam whose channels seem iffy traveling first class or Business on miles and cards - Pleeeassee stop the card miles lies !! Flew last week (USA domestic) on a 3,5 hrs 737-700 , toilet too small even in first (paid upgrade return) ! Flew as you, outbound in Economy with the facia pillar in a window seat and minimum legroom. Horrible encroachment on my shoulder and no legroom aircraft and I am 5'10". Appreciate your posts and reviews. Ive done 3,000,000 miles in my life on all aircraft and I feel you are the only straight channel encountered so far. Went to Tenerife in the 80s and 90s , hope you have an Elevenerife experience

I like the fact that you had a lot more room, but I have to comment on the IFE remote control in your video. It looked really dirty round the edges. Maybe that's a trick of the light, but it didn't look at all clean. The steward at the end didn't look like he was acknowledging anyone as they left the aircraft either. Liked and subscribed. Liked and subscribed to your channel, that is, not the miserable looking steward!

I thought that it was overpriced but that’s what you get for an airline. As I have only flew with TUI and Norwegian, I think that they are both good airlines for short haul flights. A recommended airline from me and I’m sure, Paul
